Recently, adjustable CCT(Correlated Color Temperature) luminaire for the human circadian rhythm and room atmosphere has been developed. Accurate CCT control is needed in the luminaire for the human circadian rhythm. Therefore, appropriate CCT calculation method for each of fluorescent lamps and white LEDs was examined using three CCT calculation methods in this study. To make accurate CCT combination, CCT for two different CCT lamps was separately measured. And this study compared and analyzed proportionally calculated CCT value with measured value from the compounded luminaire with the two lamps.

The purpose of these studies was to determine if hepatic tumor promoters could activate the transcription factor NF-kB, the mechanism of this activation, and whether activation of NF-kB is important in the carcinogenic process. We first demonstrated that the administration of the peroxisome proliferator ciprofibrate increases the hepatic DNA binding activity of NF-kB in rats and mice.(omitted)

Two 12 m high tubular steel lighting columns have been instrumented to determine the wind-induced fatigue loading experienced by such columns. Each column supported a single luminaire mounted on a 0.5 m long bracket. One column was planted in soil, and the other bolted through a welded baseplate to a substantial concrete base. The columns were strain gauged just above the shoulder weld which connected the main shaft to the larger base tube. Forced vibration tests were undertaken to determine the natural frequencies and damping of the columns. Extensive recordings were made of response to winds with speeds from 4 m/s to 17 m/s. Selected records were analysed to obtain stress cycle counts and fatigue lives. Mean drag coefficients were also derived from the strain data to investigate experimentally the effect of Reynolds Number.

Earlier in 1935[12], M. S. Robertson introduced the class of quadrant preserving functions. More precisely, let Q be the class of all functions f(z) analytic in the unit disk $D = {z : $\mid$z$\mid$ < 1}$ such that f(0) = 0, f'(0) = 1, and the range f(z) is in the j-th quadrant whenever z is in the j-th quadrant of D, j = 1,2,3,4. This class Q contains the subclass of normalized, odd univalent functions which have real coefficients. On the other hand, this class Q is contained in the class T of odd typically real functions which was introduced by W. Rogosinski [13]. Clearly, if $f \in Q$, then f(z) is real when z is real and therefore the coefficients of f are all real. Recently, it was observed by Y. Abu-Muhanna and T. H. MacGregor [1] that any function $f \in Q$ is odd. Instead of functions "preserving quadrants", the authors [1] have introduced the notion of "preserving sectors".

Recently, probiotics is applied for aquaculture management as an alternative method of antibiotics. Probiotics is defined as a live microbial feed supplement which a good effect to the host animal by improving its microbial condition of gastrointestinal tract (Fuller, 1989). Generally, probiotics affect growth and survival of cultured fish, water quality, immune system and so on (Rengpipat et al, 2000, Robertson et al, 2000). (omitted)

134 Dutch cone (mechanical cone) and 9 piezocone (electronic cone) penetration tests have been performed in the southwestern part of Korea. In general, Dutch cone results may be different from that of piezocone due to the difference in structure of the cones. 6 Dutch cone and piezocone test data which were obtained at the same point respectively, were analyzed and plotted in soil classification chart proposed by Robertson et. al.(1986, 1990). Cone factors of Dutch cone and piezocone test empirically have been determined using laboratory and field vane test results. Using this cone factors, it was shown that there was good correlation between shear strength estimated using cone resistance and that of laboratory test and field vane tests. It was found that there was a good correlation between cone resistance from Dutch cone and that from piezocone. Relationship formula was also suggested. Dutch cone test provides a useful means for stratigraphic profiling in large project and has some advantage over piezocone in particular situations, such as very soft clay ground and dredged area.

This paper introduces an encoder design method of Turbo TCM (Trellis Coded Modulation) with symbol puncturing. TTCM consists of two simple trellis codes in parallel and modulator. To obtain an good encoder, we calculate the free distance by the assumption that the punctured symbol is transmitted from the subset that consist of signals with the same systematic bit at random. We develop a search program to find the component encoder which maximize the free distance. Especially, for 8-PSK with code rate 2/3, we search for the component codes. We find a new encoder which has better BER performance than that of Robertson′s encoder. We verify the results through the simulation."

The object of the present paper is to characterize generalized Ricci recurrent (GR₄) spacetimes. Among others things, it is proved that a conformally flat GR₄ spacetime is a perfect fluid spacetime. We also prove that a GR₄ spacetime with a Codazzi type Ricci tensor is a generalized Robertson Walker spacetime with Einstein fiber. We further show that in a GR₄ spacetime with constant scalar curvature the energy momentum tensor is semisymmetric. Further, we obtain several corollaries. Finally, we cite some examples which are sufficient to demonstrate that the GR₄ spacetime is non-empty and a GR₄ spacetime is not a trivial case.

We investigate the direct determination of expansion history using redshift distortions without plugging into detailed cosmological parameters. The observed spectra in redshift space include a mixture of information: fluctuations of density-density and velocity-velocity spectra, and distance measures of perpendicular and parallel components to the line of sight. Unfortunately it is hard to measure all the components simultaneously without any specific prior assumption. The degeneracy breaking, between the effect of cosmic distances and redshift distortions for example, depends on the prior we assume. An alternative approach is to utilize the cosmological principle inscribed in the heart of the Friedmann-Lematre-Robertson-Walker (hereafter FLRW) universe, that is, the specific relation between the angular diameter distance and the Hubble parameter, in this degeneracy breaking.

xIn the present work, we explored the effect of the radiation on the effective impact parameter for capture in a fully general relativistic manner. To summarize our results, evidently due to the radiation drag (the Poynting-Robertson effect), critical impact parameter of point particle gets larger by the factor of two, thus, the effective cross section of the luminous relativistic star becomes 4 times larger than that of the star without radiation emission. In addition, the finite size effect of the star adds up to this growth of the effective cross section.
