A compact size high voltage pulse generator with nanosecond rise time has been fabricated and investigated experimentally. It can be reduced the inductance of the generator by fixing the Marx generator components and pulse forming network components into a single cylindrical unit. As a result, it can be obtained nanosecond rise time about $8{\sim}10[ns]$ and pulse width of several hundred nanoseconds from the modified Marx pulse generator. And parametric studies showed that the rise time of the output pulse was depended little on the change of the load resister and the charging capacitor while the pulse width of the output pulse was depended greatly upon the change of the load resistor and the charging capacitor.

The time synchronization of each sub-unit of a pulsed generator is important to generate an output high-power radio frequency (RF) signal. To obtain the time synchronization between an input RF signal fed by an external source and an electron beam produced by an electric pulse generator, the influence of different charging voltages on a delay and a rise time of the output pulse waveform in the electric pulse generator should be carefully considered. This paper aims to study the timing characteristics of the delay and the rise time as a function of different charging voltages with a peak value of less than -35 kV in the high-voltage pulse generator, including a trigger generator (TG) and a pulse-forming line (PFL). The simulation has been carried out to estimate characteristics in the time domain, in addition to their output high-voltage amplitude. Experimental results compared with those obtained by simulation indicate that the delay of the output pulses of the TG and PFL, which are made by controlling the external triggering signal with respect to different charging voltages, is getting longer as the charging voltage is increasing, and their rise times are inversely proportional to the amplitude of the charging voltage.

Chinese high-rise hotels are large in size, densely populated, and have a lot of combustibles. Once a fire occurs, the fire and smoke spread rapidly, and once a fire accident occurs, it is easy to cause a large number of deaths. Fires have a greater impact on special populations such as elderly and children who move slowly. At present, research mainly focuses on the impact of high-rise building structures on evacuation consequences, but there is very little research on the safety evacuation consequences of elderly people and children in high-rise hotels. This paper focuses on the elderly and children living in high-rise hotels in China. We studied three scenarios in which the elderly and children were placed on high floors, middle floors, and low floors. For the above three scenarios, use pathfinder software for simulation, According to the simulation results, when the elderly and children are mainly concentrated in the lower floors (2nd and 3rd floors), the evacuation time is the shortest, 147 seconds. The evacuation time for the elderly and children on the middle floor (6th and 7th floors) is the longest, at 191.5 seconds. Compared to being placed on high floors, safely staying on low floors for all ages reduces evacuation time by 44.5 seconds and improves evacuation efficiency by 23.24%. The final safety evacuation plan is that in daily safety management, hotels should arrange elderly and children occupants on lower floors as much as possible to reduce the total evacuation time and improve personnel evacuation efficiency. This has great guiding significance in the safety management of high-rise hotels.

A 2.5Gb/s 2:1 multiplexer(MUX) IC using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS was designed and fabricated. Inductive peaking technology was used to improve the performance. On-chip micro spiral inductor was designed to maximize the inductive peaking effect without increasing the chip area much. The designed 4.7 nH micro-spiral inductor was $20\times20{\mu}m2$ in size. 2:1 MUX with and without micro spiral inductors were compared. The rise and fall time was improved more than 23% and 3% respectively using the micro spiral inductors for 1.25Gb/s signal. For 2.5 Gb/s signal, fall and rise time was improved 5.3% and 3.5% respectively. It consumed 61mW and voltage output swing was 1$180mV_{p-p}$ at 2.5Gb/s.
This paper introduces the outlines of review and approval processes, general criteria and usual practices taken in Japan for the seismic design of high-rise buildings. The structural calculations are based on time-history analyses followed by performance evaluations. This paper also introduces structural design of two high-rise buildings: one is a 100 m high reinforced concrete residential building, and the other is a 300 m high steel building for mixed use.
The main object of this study is to compare the results that have been concluded by the experiment and to estimate the temperature rise that can cause the contacting surface to be damaged. The former studies are based on the Blok and Jaeger formula. By these formulas we assume that two of the contacted objects are a kind of semi-infinite solid and with this assumption we can make a temperature analysis. But this method doesn't consider lubrication conditions and the calculation time requires a lot of time in that we have to face many difficulties in measuring the actual temperature rise. In this study we combines the semi-infinite solid method and the finite volume method to analyze the temperature of the contacting surface. And we measure temperature rise of the contact surface by dynamic thermocouple.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the historical development of high-rise buildings-promoting policies in Seoul in terms of modern urban redevelopment. The results of this study were as follows; The maximum height of the buildings has been limited by National codes since 1934. But at the same time, Seoul Metropolitan government had limited the minimum building floors of roadside buildings through local regulations after the Korean War. The high-rise city had been regarded as a means of beautifying Seoul for a long time. However since the 2000s, the minimum height limit for buildings was removed from local regulations and the concept of high-rise restrictions was no longer significant as before.
Under the Korean Enforcement Decree of the Building Act, all high story apartment houses more than 5 stories high are mandated to install a fire evacuation system to ensure safe evacuation from fire accidents and providing quick and easy bidirectional escape route when main entrance is blocked by flame or toxic smoke. However, the current fire evacuation system shows a lack of understanding from residents and thus is widely ignored for having insufficient safety functions, especially vis-à-vis fire emergencies. Studies have found that an alternative evacuation method, the escapable fire evacuation system, has been analyzed for safety evaluation compared with the conventional passive fire escape system and can bring efficient and safer solutions, providing high rise residents escape from fire accidents. Evaluation for safety evacuation has been performed by the Fire Dynamics Simulation and applying Pathfinder simulation. This resulted in providing appropriate escape routes within the safety escape time and allowed for people in high rise building fires to get to safety.

The objective of this study was to develop automatic event detection algorithm for groundwater level rise. The groundwater level data and rainfall data in July and August at 37 locations nationwide were analyzed to develop the algorithm for groundwater level rise due to rainfall. In addition, the algorithm for groundwater level rise by ice melting and ground freezing was developed through the analysis of groundwater level data in January. The algorithm for groundwater level rise by rainfall was composed of three parts, including correlation between previous rainfall and groundwater level, simple linear regression analysis between previous rainfall and groundwater level, and diagnosis of groundwater level rise due to new rainfall. About 49% of the analyzed data was successfully simulated for groundwater level rise by rainfall. The algorithm for groundwater level rise due to ice melting and ground freezing included graphic analysis for groundwater level versus time (day), simple linear regression analysis for groundwater level versus time, and diagnosis of groundwater level rise by new ice melting and ground freezing. Around 37% of the analyzed data was successfully simulated for groundwater level rise due to ice melting and ground freezing. The algorithms from this study would help develop strategies for sustainable development and conservation of groundwater resources.
Rate of rise heat detectors that respond to the heat generated in fire plume and alarm when the temperature reaches a specified point, give a great influences to the loss of life and property according to their reaction sensitivity. In this study, simple equations were derived which can be predicted the response time and temperature of the rate of rise heat detector with the results of hot wind tunnel tests and compartment fire experiments.
