A Analysis on the Accumulation Characteristics of Salt Contaminants for Outdoor Insulators with Statistical Treatment (통계 처리기법을 활용한 옥외 절연물의 염해 오손물 누적특성 분석)

  • To determine the representative pollution degree of outdoor insulators during the drought season, we should make an investigation on the long-term accumulation characteristics of contaminants. As the contamination mechanism of outdoor insulator is extremely depend on the climatic condition, there is a large difference between the research result of Japanese utilities. So based on the difference of precipitation of the Korea and Japan, we could say that the accumulation characteristics of the countries have a significant difference. But, based on the result of Japan, the accumulation property of contaminants was ignored in KEPCO\`s specification. So, to determine the accumulation characteristics of Korea, we measured the 2 and 3 month ESDD with brush wiping method and make a statistical analysis on measured data. And, from the results, we understood the accumulation characteristics of Korea and the influence of topographical condition on the distribution characteristics of salt contaminants. coast.

  • At present Cournot model is one of the most commonly used theories to analyze the gaming situation in oligopoly market. But there exist several problems to apply this model to electricity market. The representative one is to obtain the inverse demand curve able to be induced from the relationship between market price and demand response. In Cournot model, each player offers their generation quantity to accomplish maximum profit, which is accomplished by reducing their quantity compared with available total capacity. As stated above, to obtain the probable Cournot equilibrium to reflect real market situation, we have to induce the correct demand function first of all. Usually the correlation between price and demand appears on the long-term basis through the statistical data analysis (for example, regression analysis) or by investigating consumer utility functions of several consumer groups classified as residential, industrial, and commercial. However, the elasticity has a tendency to change continuously according to the total market demand size or the level of market price. Therefore it should be updated as trading period passes by. In this paper we propose a method for inducing and updating this price elasticity of demand function for more realistic market equilibrium

  • The Lighthouses and light beacons are representative structures of Aids to Navigation(AtoN) facilities. Incheon had been the region where they were constructed actively in early moden era. This study is targeting the lighthouse and light beacon which are managed by Regional Maritime Affairs. They will be organized by the research from field investigation. And conservation and management method for long-term preservation on the objects that has cultural and historical values will be suggested through this study.

Degradation of Monoethanolamine during Continuous Operation of a Laboratory Scale CO2 Absorption System (실험실 규모 이산화탄소 흡수장치의 연속운전시 모노에탄올아민 열화 특성)

  • Oxidative and thermal degradation of alkanolamines for a promising $CO_2$ capture technology of absorption might cause decrease in $CO_2$ capture efficiency and formation of hazardous byproducts. In this study, characteristics of a representative absorbent of monoehtanolamine (MEA) were examined for a long term operation using a laboratory scale absorption system. An $CO_2$ absorption system with ID 56 mm and absorption zone height 100 cm was developed for the characterization. Absorption solution of 30 wt% MEA was circulated at 100 mL/min to treat air with 15% $CO_2$ and 1 ppm NO at 10 L/min. Temperatures of absorber and stripper were maintained at $40^{\circ}C$ and $120^{\circ}C$, respectively. For the course of 5 weeks continuous operation, MEA concentration was decreased approximately by 70% and $CO_2$ removal efficiency was dropped from 95% to 65%. Ionic byproducts of $NH_4{^+}$, $NO_2{^-}$, and $NO_3{^-}$ were accumulated up to 48 g/mL, 0.2 g/mL, and 1.5 g/mL, respectively, tracking the variation of MEA concentration. Formation of various organic byproducts were also observed.

Analyses on Standard Formats of Spatial Imagery Information (공간영상정보 포맷 분석 및 표준화 방향)

  • This study has analyzed GeoTIFF, SDTS, HDF, and BIIF as the representative formats of spatial imagery information with two parts. First is to compare 4 formats with each other based on 4 comparison criteria (extensibility, interchangeability, current widespread use, long-term stability) by analyzing specification of each format. Second is to estimate current use and interchangeability of 4 formats between 5 commercial softwares used commonly. The result shows that GeoTIFF is currently better than three other formats. However, the more various spatial imagery information are and the larger capacity they have, the more formats are developed and updated, which means that only one format should not be considered as a standard format continuously. It is better to provide a standard format proper to the time through continuous research and sustainable policy support should be followed.

  • Jeoksimto which was build up as the reinforcement establishment made with the soil under the cornerstone in the site of tile-capped building is the representative construction technique which become popular in the Sabi capital era after the Wungjin capital era. Especially from the fact that no site of tile-capped building with this Jeoksimto has been found in the Silla area, we can see the originality Baekje technique. We can analogize the specialization of Josagong (造寺工) (craftsman building the temple) and the diversity of technique, on the basis of the technique raising the ground level which is different with the middle gate site of Neung-sa and the Hall enshrining Buddha site in Buyeo. Moreover, we can have the confidence the dispatch of craftsman and the transmission of building technique from the Buyeo area to the Iksan area through the fact that the construction techniques of Jeoksimto in both area are almost the same. However the concerns in the construction archaeology are necessary because almost no study for Jeoksimto has been conducted and the term of Jeoksimto also is unfamiliar even if excavation of Baekje Jeoksimto in the several remains.

Correlation of the Rates of Solvolysis of 1- and 2-Naphthyl Chloroformates Using the Extended Grunwald-Winstein Equation

  • The specific rates of solvolysis of 1- naphthyl chloroformate (1-NaphOCOCl, 1) and 2-naphthyl chloroformate (2-NaphOCOCl, 2) have been determined in a wide range of solvents at 2.0 and 10.0$^{\circ}C$. These give a satisfactory correlation over the full range of solvents when the extended (two-term) Grunwald-Winstein equation is applied. The sensitivities (l and m-values) to changes in solvent nucleophilicity ($N_T$) and solvent ionizing power ($Y_{Cl}$) are similar to those reported previously for solvolysis of phenyl chloroformate, which has been suggested to proceed through an addition-elimination mechanism with the addition step being rate determining. For four representative solvents, studies were made at several temperatures and activation parameters determined. These observations were also compared with those previously reported for phenyl chloroformates and naphthoyl chlorides.

  • Mobile phone is a representative personal communication tool among wireless communication devices. Recently, with the miniaturization and light-weight trend of mobile phone, the vibration motor has been replaced by coin type. The required performances of coin type vibration motor needed by user are long life, higher vibration, and thin thickness. Also the most important factor determines the performance of vibration motor is long-term reliability, which is mainly related to PCB plating technique for commutator. In this study, three types of fault were categorized to analyze the cause for malfunction of vibration motor. And, hardness and surface morphology on plating surface are also investigated to optimize the plating method and plating conditions. As a result, new plating method and conditions were proposed to increase the durability of PCB commutator.

Role of Charges of the Surface-grafted Polymer Chains for Aqueous Lubrication at a Nonpolar Interface

  • Charged polymer chains, i.e., polyelectrolytes, are known to show superior aqueous lubricating properties compared to those of neutral polymer chains, especially in brush conformation. This is primarily because of the incorporation of a large amount of counterions within the polymer layers and the consequently increased osmotic pressure. However, this effect is active only when the polymer chains remain immobilized even under tribostress, which is not realistic for high-contact pressure tribological applications, especially when they are irreversibly immobilized on tribopair surfaces. In contrast, with free polymers, which can be included as surface-active additives in the base lubricant (water), long-term lubricating performance based on "self-healing" properties is readily expected. In order to assess whether the superior aqueous lubricating properties of polyelectrolyte chains are valid for free polymers too, this study reviews recent studies on the tribological properties of many charged biopolymer and synthetic copolymers at a nonpolar, hydrophobic interface. In contrast to the irreversibly immobilized polyelectrolyte chains, free polyelectrolyte chains show inferior aqueous lubricating properties compared to their neutral counterparts owing to charge accumulation and the consequently impeded surface adsorption on the nonpolar surface. Nevertheless, bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM), a representative biopolymer, shows a sufficiently effective surface adsorption and aqueous lubricating capabilities even at neutral pH without losing the polyanionic characteristics.

  • We analyzed the observed temperature data for 50 years on 5 representative points in Korea to verify global warming and the increase in climate variability. We found that there was some level of global warming but we could not disregard the effects of urbanization. In addition, we could not find any information for the increase in climate variability.
