A multi-agent system designed to represent newly deregulated electricity markets in the USA is aimed at testing the capability of the multi-agent model to replicate the observed price behavior in the wholesale market and developing a smart business intelligence which quickly searches the optimum offer strategy responding to the change in market environments. Simulation results show that the optimum offer strategy is to withhold expensive generating units and submit relatively low offers when demand is low, regardless of firm size; the optimum offer strategy during a period of high demand is either to withhold capacity or speculate for a large firm, while it is to be a price taker a small firm: all in all, the offer pattern observed in the market is close to the optimum strategy. From the firm's perspective, the demand-side participation as well as the intense competition dramatically reduces the chance of high excess profit.
Recently, many researches on the development of super-hydrophobic surface have been concentrated on the fabrication of nano-patterned products. Nano-patterned mold is a key to replicate nano-patterned products by mass production process such as injection molding and UV molding. The present paper proposes the new fabricating method of nano-patterned mold at low cost. The nano-patterned mold was fabricated by electroforming the anodic aluminum oxide membrane filled with UV curable resin in nano-hole by capillary phenomenon. As a result, the final mold with nano-patterns which have the holes with the diameter of 100~200 nm was fabricated. Furthermore, the UV-molded products with clear nano- patterns which have the pillars with the diameter of 100~200nm were achieved.
This study evaluated the effect of factors influencing the initial biofilm formation in drinking water distribution pipe by running experiments using a $2^{4-1}$ fractional factorial experimental design with a replicate. Important variables used for assessing biofilm formation included BDOC(biodegradable dissolved organic carbon), viable heterotrophic bacteria present in drinking water, water temperature, and shear stress at two levels each. Based on the statistical analysis of biofilm levels measured as attached HPC(heterotrophic plate count) and community-level assay, the main factors that have significant effects on biofilm formation were found to be viable heterotrophic bacteria and BDOC. Water temperature only exhibited significant effect on the levels of attached HPC, while shear stress was not a significant factor under given conditions. Moreover, the statistical analysis revealed that interactions between the important variables were not statistically significant at a 0.05 significance level.
An increase in variance (overdispersion) can occur when a binomial statistical analysis is applied to sensory difference test data in which replicate sensory evaluations (tastings) and multiple evaluators (judges) are combined to increase the sample size. Such a practice can cause extensive Type I errors, leading to serious misinterpretations of the data, especially when traditional simple binomial analysis is applied. Alternatively, the use of beta binomial analysis will circumvent the problem of overdispersion. This brief review discusses the uses and computation methodology of beta binomial analysis and in practice evidence for the occurrence of overdispersion.
This paper is concerned with the problem of how to detect paint type defects on painted slates using machine vision. We begin by outlining the motivations for this research and present a review of research in related areas before proceeding with a process description and a categorization of typical paint defects. We describe the test bed built to replicate factory conditions and the testing of image capture techniques. We discuss problems we confronted such as getting a sufficiently strong signal level from the slate, the effects of the slate surface profile on image capture and how we dealt with these problems. The third principal challenge was to generate a strong signal to noise ratio for each defect type so that a computationally inexpensive image processing method becomes viable. We demonstrate ...
Measurement error is one of main source of error in survey. It is generally defined as the difference between an observed value and an underlying true value. An observed value with error may be expressed as a function of the true value plus error term. In some cases, the measurement error variance may be also a function of the unknown true value. The error variance function can be rewritten as a function of true value multiplied by a scale factor. This research explore methods for estimation of the measurement error variance based on the data from complex sampling design. We consider the case in which the variance of mesurement error is a linear function of unknown true value, and the error variance scale factor is small. We applied our results to the U.S. Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (the U.S. NHANES III) data for empirical analyses, which has replicate measurements for relatively small subset of initial respondents's group.

We process a novel approach cal led combined nanoimprint and photolithography (CNP) to greatly simplify the fabrication in conventional nanoimprint lithography (NIL). In this study, a novel HMM with anti-sticking $SiO_2$ layer is introduced to improve the quality of transferred pattern. The surface property was investigated using contact angle measurement and spectrophotometer. Replicate pattern with CNP using HMM showed complete pattern transfer without defect.

The MapReduce Program of Hadoop Distributed File System operates on any unspecified nodes due to distributed-parallel process and block replicate for data stability. Since it is difficult to guarantee the cache locality when a Solid State Drive is used as a cache in hadoop, cache hit-rate is decreased. In this paper, we suggest a method to improve cache hit rate by pre-loading the input data of the MapReduce onto the SSD cache. To perform this method, we estimated the blocks that are used on each node by using capacity scheduler and block metadata. Eventually we could increase the performance of SSD cache by loading the blocks onto SSD cache before the Map Task run.

This study investigates the relationship among Appraisal outcome Satisfaction. Perceived Organization Support and Perceived Appraisal Justice. Several important findings emerge from this research. First. both distributive and procedural justice have a significant power in accounting for Perceived Organization Support. Second, it is evidenced that perceiving justice has a positive relationship with perceived organization support. Third, appraisal outcome satisfaction was higher, the level of distributive, procedural. interactional justice and perceived organization support were high. Future study. therefore. have to concentrate on the survey of casual relations among each concept in the framework of a longitudinal study. And to apply the results of this study to practical management, it is suggested that replicate research on various populations and through various experiments should be mand in the future.

Composite resin restoration on class II cavities is a challenging procedure since it is tough to replicate proper contact, the natural shape of the tooth, etc. Moreover, it is not familiar with the procedure and tools for this specific situation, neither. Nowadays the patients, however, request more and more composite restorations which are relatively quick and more esthetic. In this case report, the class II composite resin restoration procedure is illustrated step by step. Every step must be considered its final consequence thoroughly. In this approach, we can minimize the finishing procedure and save our effort and time.
