This study suggests a modeling of grid-connected wind turbine generation system that has induction generator, and aims to perform simulations for outputs by the variation of actual wind speed and for fault current of wind generation system by the transformer winding connection. This study is implemented by matlab&simulink. The simulation shall be performed by assuming single line to ground fault generated in the system. Generator power, generator rotor speed, generator terminal current and fault current shall be observed following the performance of simulation. The fault current change will be dealt through the simulation results for fault current of wind generation system following the grid-connected transformer winding connection and the simulation result by the transformer neutral ground method.
As the distributed generation becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of the distributed generation units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This new market penetration using the distributed generation technology is linked to a large number of factors like economics and performance, safety and reliability, market regulations, environmental issues, or grid connection standards. KEPCO, a government company in Korea, has performed the project to identify and evaluate the performance of Micro Gas Turbine(MGT) technologies focused on 30, 60kW-class grid-connected optimization and combined Heat & Power performance. This paper describes the results for the mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests of MGT on actual grid-connection under Korean regulations. As one of the achievements, the simulation model of Exhaust-gas Absorption Chiller was developed, so that it will be able to analyze or propose new distributed generation system using MGT. In addition, KEPCO carried out the field testing of the MGT Cogeneration system at the R&D Center Building, KEPCO. The field test was conducted in order to respond to a wide variety of needs for heat recovery and utilization. The suggested method and experience for the evaluation of the distributed generation will be used for the introduction of other distributed generation technologies into the grid in the future.
The Photovoltaic(PV) generation system is a promising source of energy for the future. Since the need for renewable energy has been increased, the research of PV generation system has also been progressed. Recently, cost down of PV generation system has been accomplished and practical technologies of the solar energy developed, Moreover, grid connected PV generation system are becoming actual and general. Operational technology of the grid connected PV generation system is being a hot issue. Power output of PV system is directly affected by wether conditions. When AC power supply is needed, power conversion by an inverter and a MPPT control are necessary. In this paper, for stability improvement of PV generation system. Active filter(AF) function is added to PV generation system, and simulations of PV-AF system under various weather conditions are performed.

The performances of three different types of photovoltaic (PV) module technologies namely, copper-indium-diselenide (CIGS), mono-crystalline silicon (mo-Si) and amorphous silicon (a-Si) have been comparatively studied in the grid-connected system for more than a year under the tropical monsoon climate of Thailand. The yields, performance ratios and system efficiencies for the respective PV module technologies have been calculated and a comparison is presented here. The performance ratios of the initial operation year for CIGS showed highest among the compared technologies under Thailand climate conditions by marking 97.0% while 89.6% for a-Si and 81.5% for mo-Si. Although mo-Si has shown highest efficiencies all over the period, under the testing conditions, the operating efficiency of mo-Si was down-graded from its reference value mainly due to high operating temperature and the efficiency of the tested CIGS module was also found as high as that of mo-Si in the study. Accordingly, outdoor assessment shows that CIGS modules have demonstrated high performance in terms of yields and performance ratios in Thailand climate conditions.

A PVIB(Photovoltaic in Building) system is united by a constituent outer covering and can expect dual effects that reduce expenses for the establishment of a PV system. It is a profitable technology because it does not need a building as it is a stand alone PV system. This paper presents design, operational features analysis, and PCS(Power Conditioning System) of grid-connected 30kW PVIB set up on the library of Dongshin University. For a sustainable photovoltaic system in this area, the data of the PVIB system are collected and analyzed by monitoring system using LabView. PCS of the grid-connected PVIB system, also, is designed for optimal operation with characteristics suggested in this paper.
Quasi Z-Source Multilevel Inverter (QZMLI) topology has attracted grid connected Photovoltaic (PV) systems in recent days. So there is a remarkable research thrust in switching techniques and control strategies of QZMLI. This paper presents the mathematical analysis of Phase shift- Pulse Width Amplitude Modulation (PS-PWAM) for QZMLI and emphasizes on the advantages of the technique. The proposed technique uses the maximum and minimum envelopes of the reference waves for generation of pulses and proportion of it to generate shoot-through pulses. Hence, it results in maximum utilization of input voltage, lesser switching loss, reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the output voltage, reduced inductor current ripple and capacitor voltage ripple. Due to these qualities, the QZMLI with PS-PWAM emerges to be the best suitable for PV based grid connected applications compared to Phase shift-Pulse Width Modulation (PS-PWM). The detailed math analysis of the proposed technique has been disclosed. Simulation has been performed for the proposed technique using MATLAB/Simulink. A prototype has been built to validate the results for which the pulses were generated using FPGA /SPARTAN 3E.

Power system for renewable energy is composed of module, transform DC power into AC power inverter, control power flow and device for a charge of the grid-connected. Power system for renewable energy produce the most DC power, when this system is much insolation in summer and daytime. But if the certain temperature rises above, the essential grid-connected power inverter is take a nose dive. There, in this paper, we propose an improved reduction of heating system. In addition, selection of the most serious heat region and through analysis of temperature characteristics according to location and distance derive the optimal model.

In a single-phase grid-connected power system consisting of a dc-dc converter and a dc-ac converter, the current drawn from renewable energy sources has a tendency to be pulsated and contains double-fundamental frequency ripple components, which results in several drawback such as a power harvesting loss and a shortening of the energy source's life. This paper presents a new double-fundamental current reduction-scheme with a fast dc-link voltage loop for two-stage dc-dc-ac grid connected systems. In the frequency domain, an adequate control design is performed based on the small-signal transfer function of a two-stage dc-dc-ac converter. To verify the effectiveness of proposed control algorithm, a 1 kW hardware prototype has been built and experimental results are presented.

Recently, with the rise of environmental issues and the change of government policy (Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan), a large amount of renewable energy such as solar and wind power is connected to the power system, and most of the renewable energy is concentrated in the power distribution network. This causes many problems with the voltage management and the protection coordination of the grid due to the its intermittent power generation. In order to effectively operate the distribution network, it is necessary to deploy more intelligent terminal devices in the field to measure the status of the distribution network and develop various operation functions such as visualization and big data analysis to support the power distribution system operators. In addition, the failover technology must be supported for the non-stop operation of the power distribution system. This paper proposes the system architecture of new power distribution management system to cope with high penetration of renewable energy. To verify the proposed system architecture, the functional unit test and performance measurement were performed.

This paper presents an operational technique that can secure the stability of DC-Grid centering on MG operated based on ESS in multiple MG where three DC-based microgrid(MG) are interconnected. MG1(PV 600kWp, ESS 1.5MWh) has an 830Vdc grid voltage, MG2(PV 300kWp, ESS 1.1MWh) and MG3(PV 100kWp, ESS 500kWh) are DC-based MG with a 750Vdc grid voltage, and MG1 and MG2, 3 are linked by separate DC/DC converters (BTB). In order to keep different grid voltages stable, the power transmission capacity between MG1 and two MG(MG2, MG3) connected with an independent BTB converter was adjusted to secure the overall stability of the system, and this was verified by confirming that the surplus capacity of ESS was maintained in actual operation.
