Evaluation and monitoring of degradation mechanism of Li-ion battery for portable electronic device (휴대전자기기용 저용량 리튬이온 배터리의 충방전 열화 기구 분석 및 모니터링)

  • As a fundamental experimental study for reliability improvement of lithium ion secondary battery, degradation mechanism was investigated by microscopic observation and acoustic emission monitoring. Microstructural observation of the decomposed battery after cycle test revealed mechanical and chemical damages such as interface delamination, microcrack of the electrodes, and solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Acoustic emission (AE) signal was detected during charge and discharge of lithium ion battery to investigate relationships among cumulative count, discharge capacity, and microdamages. With increasing number of cycle, discharge capacity was decreased and AE cumulative count was observed to increase. Observed damages were attributed to sources of the detected AE signals.

  • 신제품 개발에 있어서 제품의 잠재적 고장모드를 줄이기 위한 설계 노력은 매우 중요하며 이를 위해서는 체계적이고 혁신적인 신뢰성프로그램을 적용하는 것이 반드시 필요하다. 기업에서 동시공학을 기초로 한 건전한 신뢰성프로그램에 포함된 주요활동으로는 DFR(Design for Reliability), 신뢰성검증 및 물리적 해석활동 등이 있으며, 이 중 DFR은 제품 개발을 지원하는 첫 번째 과학적 신뢰성활동이다. 본 연구는 브레이크패드의 신뢰성을 향상시키기 위하여 회사조직전체에서 여러 부서의 팀 구성원이 유기적으로 참여하는 DFR 프로세스를 조직하고 실행하는 전략과 기술에 대한 연구이다. 본 사례연구의 동기는 해당기업에서 DFR에 적용된 모든 도구와 기술을 통해 제품의 신뢰성을 향상시키고 동시에 글로벌시장의 잠재고객에 대하여 품질과 신뢰성에 대한 확신을 주는데 유용하게 활용하기 위함이다. 본 논문에서는 제품개발주기의 개념설계단계 부터 제품의 폐기까지의 DFR 개념 전개에 대하여 설명하고, 기술적 도구를 적용한 설계초기 단계에서의 분석사례를 제시하였다.

  • FMEA(Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) is a failure analysis method for the system to identify the potential failure modes, and their effects and causes to reduce or mitigate the critical effects of the system. FMEA for railway was introduced with reliability of railway system, and this was used for identifying and analysing the possible hazards qualitatively to meet the requirements in early stage of business. In general, the overall failure data of system could be managed from design stage by FMEA, and also the countermeasures to prevent many predicted failures could be established by identification of failure modes and assement of failure effects by FMEA. Using these advantages of FMEA, the effectiveness of reliability improvement could be expected if FMEA is applied continuously in operation stage. It is essential that railway vehicles are maintained with high level of safety and reliability not to happen any failures in operation. This paper is proposed the proper FMEA for maintenance of railway vehicles compared with existing FMEA.

A study on the dielectric characteristics improvement of gate oxide using tungsten policide (텅스텐 폴리사이드를 이용한 게이트 산화막의 절연특성 개선에 관한연구)

  • Tungsten poycide has studied gate oxide reliability and dielectric strength charactristics as the composition of gate electrode which applied submicron on CMOS and MOS device for optimizing gate electrode resistivity. The gate oxide reliability has been tested using the TDDB(time dependent dielectric breakdwon) and SCTDDB (stepped current TDDB) and corelation between polysilicon and WSi$_{2}$ layer. iN the case of high intrinsic reliability and good breakdown chracteristics on polysilicon, confirmed that tungsten polycide layer is a better reliabilify properities than polysilicon layer. Also, hole trap is detected on the polysilicon structure meanwhile electron trap is detected on polycide structure. In the case of electron trap, the WSi$_{2}$ layer is larger interface trap genration than polysilicon on large POCL$_{3}$ doping time and high POCL$_{3}$ doping temperature condition. WSi$_{2}$ layer's leakage current is less than 1 order and dielectric strength is a larger than 2MV/cm.

  • It has been well known that traffic accidents occur under combined functional contributions of drivers, vehicles and road facilities, and that evaluation of safety levels for a specific road section or point is generally much complicated. Additionally, most of traffic accidents occur randomly implicating it is necessary to be evaluated in terms of probability theory. Thus, the evaluation model which reflects various characteristics and probabilistic distributions of traffic accidents has been necessary. The present paper provides a reliability based model with variables of probabilistic operating speeds and design speeds together which have been individually explaining associated characteristics in traffic accidents. Consequently, the model made it possible for speed management and road improvement projects to be evaluated in a common index. Application studies were performed in three cases. Through the studies, couples of facts were identified that the model successfully considered the probabilistic operating speeds and design speeds together and that then, the model evaluated road safety alternatives relatively which are complicatedly characterized and differently located.

In this case, reliability prediction work with motion characteristic evaluation of sliding cover has also important roll from design procedure to manufacturing and assembly process. Accordingly in this study, H/W test -bed system for reliability evaluation of sliding cover has been developed to obtain proper reference data for design of new model, and also prevention trouble, quality and life cycle improvement extremely for advanced mother machinary.

  • Object of a real-time system, that performs exact information based on the real-time constraint. is required for an improvement of high reliability. The fault-tolerant task scheduling strategy of multiprocessor as using a distributed memory based on a hardware redundancy can be improved into a high reliability of the real-time system. Therefore, this paper is shown to analyze the reliability of the system by using the transfer parameter and make the modeling in reference to a minimization of the fault-tolerant task scheduling strategy which uses a percentage of task missing and deadline parameter based on optimization task size.

  • The recent development of Sensor technology has broadened its applications to many fields of industry including railroad. The sensor technology enables the railroad system to monitor and control. This paper suggests the sensor based system design for evaluating and improving the reliability and safety of the ICT system. For this purpose, the reliability and the level of safety integrity of a general gateway have been predicted quantitatively and the supplementary design has been proposed for RAMS improvement. RAMS requirements for each life cycle stipulated in IEC 62278. RAMS activity is capable of producing significant and effective reductions in operation costs and time.

  • R&D institutes, supporting development in industry, are required to provide an economic basis of their R&D investments. In this paper, we apply prospective cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the economic impact of R&D investments. We compute main metrics with cost and benefit estimated via counter-factual evaluation model. Among many projects of KRISS to improve measurement reliability, three projects are evaluated by applying prospective cost-benefit analysis.

  • Recently, various plastics are used for improvement of reliability and thermal stability of electronic goods. But, it is difficult to choose suitable balance of grade resin to each other product property. Selection of high efficiency resin is becoming inescapable circumstance according to change of reflow temperature of product and development of product following to lead free. Using a inexpensive and reasonable resin, that sustain a uniform performance of product quality. It is make a robust product and increase a company's competitive power. Hereupon, I introduce example that use ESPI methods of thermal deformation analysis of product using in our company product. I try to refer to a structural weak point detection of real time measurement of electronic parts instead of mechanical and chemical measurement of specimen type.
