Available Transfer Capability Evaluation Considering CO2 Emissions Using Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (CO2 배출량을 고려한 가용송전용량 계산에 관한 연구)

  • Under the Kyoto Protocol many countries have been requested to participate in emissions trading with the assigned $CO_2$ emissions. In this environment, it is inevitable to change the system and market operation in deregulated power systems, and then ensuring safety margin is becoming more important for balancing system security, economy and $CO_2$ emissions. Nowadays, available transfer capability (ATC) is a key index of the remaining capability of a transmission system for future transactions. This paper presents a novel approach to the ATC evaluation with $CO_2$ emissions using multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) technique. This technique evolves a multi-objective version of PSO by proposing redefinition of global best and local best individuals in multi-objective optimization domain. The optimal power flow (OPF) method using MOPSO is suggested to solve multi-objective functions including fuel cost and $CO_2$ emissions simultaneously. To show its efficiency and effectiveness, the results of the proposed method is comprehensively realized by a comparison with the ATC which is not including $CO_2$ emissions for the IEEE 30-bus system, and is found to be quite promising.

  • Traditional autopilot design requires an accurate aerodynamic model and relies on a gain schedule to account for system nonlinearities. This paper presents the control architecture applied to a dynamic model inversion at a single flight condition with an on-line neural network (NN) in order to regulate errors caused by approximate inversion. This eliminates the need for an extensive design process and accurate aerodynamic data. The simulation results using a developed full nonlinear 6 degree of freedom model are presented. This paper also presents the stability evaluation for control systems to which NNs were applied. Although feedback can accommodate uncertainty to meet system performance specifications, uncertainty can also affect the stability of the control system. The importance of robustness has long been recognized and stability margins were developed to quantify it. However, the traditional stability margin techniques based on linear control theory can not be applied to control systems upon which a representative non-linear control method, such as NNs, has been applied. This paper presents an alternative stability margin technique for NNs applied to control systems based on the system responses to an inserted gain multiplier or time delay element.

  • The EMFG (Extended Mark Flow Graph) is not only a powerful tool for designing the discrete-event system conceptually or specifically but also a good representation tool for implementing the system directly. But it is difficult to design or analyze the system because the impossibility of mathematical analysis results from some complicated representation of the EMFG. In this paper, therefore we redefined EMFG representations to provide the possibility of mathematical analysis, and employed an output inhibit are of a transition, which makes possible the adequate representations for the indescribable parts. We also solved trouble parts in the circuit translations of the EMFG and proposed the circuit translation method by using the mathematical formula. Finally, we compared the conventional EMFG with the redefined EMFG, and we designed a 0101 detecter with the redefined EMFG and translated it to the corresponding circuit.

  • (Most companies that perform BPR have not achieved satisfactory results or have not performed successful BPRs. There are many reasons for this, but the most important one has caused problems that do not accurately reflect the requirements of various stakeholders. In this paper, we will apply the BPR consulting methodology to a new value innovation requirements engineering process based on the Blue Ocean strategy, which is a way to create a new market without competition by customerizing potential customers by satisfying new customer expectations and needs. This paper uses a requirements engineering process that can generate customer value by applying the ERRC(Erasure Reduce Raise Create) analysis method, which is the core of the Blue Ocean Strategy Framework[1,2]. We will also apply the Six Sigma DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) methodology to improve quality and process through quantitative and systematic analysis. The proposed approach was presented to the BPR consulting to present a practical case, and the results of the empirical analysis of the system user to validate the results of BPR consulting.

  • In order to increase extendibility and reusability of components during component design, the variability discovered in a business application development needs to be defined to separate rules. That is because component adaptation techniques through redefinition of implementation classes and interface wrapping have limits to support the component reusability. Therefore, It's essential to design the component which takes into account the future reusability in the component development. In this paper, we extended the existing component architecture to incorporate rule components by separating variable properties from the components and defined the necessary syntax for the rule definition. In the case study, we built the business components for an insurance sales application and verified the component reusability through the rule redefining.

  • Designer has recently required the supporting system to assist the design steps that are not simple and standardized. But, as it is often the case with many researches, the design support systems have the problems that the functional module's expansion and the flexible connection with the intelligent CAD System are insufficient. In this paper, we present a framework, EDSS Frame (Expanded Design Support System Frame) to improve in its problems. For the implementation of the EDSS Frame, we make the functional modules, the executable files and analyze a characteristic of the functional modules. Finally, we checked the cases that is generated. Through these works, we organize the algorithm of the running process in each cases. A user can make the process through the association of the functional modules. Also, we make the DLL files or algorithms for corresponding in change of the intelligent CAD System. User can make the additional file or algorithm for a new release of the intelligent CAD system. EDSS Frame can be used for the implementation of the design support system on a various fields, and assists a designer with the rapid reconstruction of the design support system through the continuous addition of the functional modules and the redefinition of the running process between the functional modules.

  • The theory of tectonic appeared in the midst of 19th century as German architects adopted new materials and structural technology, invented by creative engineers, into architectural design. This does not merely mean a technical problem but concern the redefinition of architecture in term of an aesthetic, cultural, and ontological identity. Furthermore it alluded to a desire on the part of architectural theorists to actualize artistic and spiritual goals out of new constructional necessities. Because of their complex discourse that assumed the possibility of communication between philosophical and technical aspects, between ideal and real concerns, tectonics becomes until now the most important issue in architecture. The concept of tectonic was intensively investigated by Gottfried Semper's and Karl B$\ddot{o}$tticher architectural writings. They contributed to clarify the principle aspects of tectonic within architectural, philosophical, and anthropological discourses of 19th century. Gottfried Semper stressed an understanding of how architecture took on physical form in earliest human culture. He placed great importance on the artistic expression of materials. But unlike Semper who argued the cladding of the structural frame by decorative wall system, Karl Botticher required maximum visibility of structural frame.   • LBS(Location Based Service) and GIS (Geographic Information System) are supporting necessary services for system which provides geographic information using location information based on various platforms. However the mobile computing environments such as PDA system have serious limitations in functional viewpoints compare of general computing environments, it has problems for developing GIS system which is providing various information. In this paper, we suggest the reduced methods of digital map and format of web-linked digital mao in order to fit in mobile environment. As a result of map generation, the total capacity of the supported digital map was diminished about $99.34\%$ than the original map.

  • Service industry has become the integral part of economy. And the activation of industry requires a scientific and systematic approach. As one of these kinds of efforts, IBM presented a service model which consisted of strategies, processes, technology, manpower and so on through Service Science. And IBM raised the needs of considering the main issue and methodology of service model's scientific approach. On that account, this study worked out factorial definitions and measurable items by the four components of service model presented by Service Science in order for it to be measured through studies on related literature and interviews of specialists. In order to prepare an opportunity of categorizing the conception of the service model of which character was strongly intangible and of systematically approaching to it, the investigator examined related literature and applied it QFD methodology. Through this kind of redefinition, the investigator concretely conceptualized the service model which was standstill at the level of theoretical approach so far and presented guidelines with which researchers could classify it more concretely. In addition, the investigator tried to present a systematic frame which could be applied to business by working-level officials or decision-makers. Therefore, the investigator expects that study findings will be used as references for the design or implementation of service-oriented business model.

  • Of the seven base units of the international system of units, only the kilogram is still defined in terms of a material artifact. One of the experimental approaches opening the way to a new definition of the kilogram is the watt balance To improve the performance of the NPL watt balance, we need to quantify and reduce hysteresis effects in the balance knives. In this paper, we discuss the mechanical characteristics of the knife edges used in the NPL watt balance. The hysteresis mechanism is analyzed using the finite element method. It is found that the cause of hysteresis is not normal stress but shear, and the deformation of the flat, rather than the knife, is an important factor in the hysteresis mechanism. The study presented here, using finite element analysis, suggests that parameters such as material property, tip radius and knife straightness can be more important than others, such as friction coefficient, tip angle, etc.
