A CMOS IR-UWB RFIC for Location Based Systems (위치 기반 시스템을 위한 CMOS IR-UWB RFIC)

  • This paper presents a fully integrated 3 - 5 GHz IR-UWB(impulse radio ultra-wide band) RFIC for Location based system. The receiver architecture adopts the energy detection method and for high speed sampling, the equivalent time sampling technique using the integrated DLL(delay locked loop) and 4 bit ADC. The digitally synthesized UWB impulse generator with low power consumption is also designed. The designed IR-UWB RFIC is implemented on $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The receiver's sensitivity is -85.7 dBm and the current consumption of receiver and transmitter is 32 mA and 25.5 mA respectively at 1.8 V supply.

  • 이 논문의 목적은 Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN)을 기반으로 한 체감형 게임의 플랫폼을 구현하는데 있다. 여기서는 여러 개의 비콘과 한 개의 수신기를 네트워크로 구성하였다. 각각의 비콘들은 동시에 초음파와 RF(Radio Frequency) 신호를 전송한다. 그러면 수신기에서는 둘 사이의 시간차를 이용하여 수신기와 비콘 사이의 거리를 계산 할 수 있게 되고 이 계산된 값들은 상황 인식 서버에 전달되어 몇 가지의 데이터 처리과정을 거쳐 수신기의 위치를 결정할 수 있게 된다. 그럼 최종적으로 위치 데이터를 가지고 게임에서의 가상 물체의 동작을 결정하게 된다. 본 논문은 USN과 가상현실이 통합된 환경이 새로운 세대의 게임에 있어서 커다란 견인차역할을 할 것이라 여겨진다.

  • 현재 사용되는 디지털 신호처리 방식의 GPS(Global Positioning System) 수신기는 최소의 RF 블록만을 이용하여 모든 디지털 신호 처리를 소프트웨어로 수행하고 있다. 소프트웨어 GPS수신기의 장점으로는 디지털 신호처리 과정이 모두 소프트웨어로 구현되어 있기 때문에 새로운 구현 방식이나 알고리즘을 적용할 시, 하드웨어 변경은 필요가 없게 되고, 소프트웨어 재설계만으로 가능하다. GPS 수신기의 Tracking module 성능은 DLL discriminator function과 FLL discriminator function의 Algorithm에 의해서 영향을 받게 된다. DLL discriminator function algorithm에는 dot-product 와 normalized dot-product 방법 등이 있으며, FLL discriminator function algorithm에는 sign(dot)(cross)-product 와 cross-product 그리고 ATAN 방법이 있다. 이러한 discriminator function들은 algorithm에 따라 input error에 대한 discriminator의 출력 값을 일정한 범위에서의 차이를 나타내게 되면서 ranging accuracy에서 차이가 나타나게 된다. 본 논문에서는 Nordnav 소프트웨어 GPS 수신기를 이용하여 DLL discriminator algorithm과 FLL discriminator algorithm의 성능을 비교, 분석을 하고 Tracking accuracy, sensibility, 그리고 multipath rejection에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.

  • ATSC 방식의 지상파 디지털 TV 방송에서는 단일 주파수 망 구성 시 송신기들과 중계기들이 단일 주파수를 사용함에 따라 수신기에서 간섭 문제가 발생한다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 ATSC 권고에서는 각 송신기 및 중계기에 RF Watermark 방식의 식별 (TxID: Transmitter Identification) 신호를 할당하여 송신 및 중계 신호에 부가하여 전송하도록 권고하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 DTV 신호에 부가되어 전송되는 RF Watermark 방식의 TxID 신호가 상용 DTV 수신기에 미치는 영향을 분산주파수망을 이용하여 실제 필드 테스트를 통해 살펴본다.

  • Wide Area Differential GNSS(WA-DGNSS) was developed in order to improve the accuracy and integrity performance of GNSS. In Korea, WA-DGNSS development project, which aims to develop core algorithms and verify the performance using pseudolite-based demo system, is currently in progress. In this paper, overall structure of developed system and experimental methods which enables the post-processing test with commercial receiver will be described. In this system, pseudolite is used to broadcast augmenting signal and RF signal logger and broadcaster were used to test the performance. Performance test was conducted broadcasting the logged RF signal and pseudolite signal to commercial receiver and those results will be described.

  • Through MCU model, Radio Frequency communication is completed using universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter. The communicatin with PC and MCU is completed using RS-232 cable. At first interconnected communication with PC and MCU is necessary for RF communication because tha UART is based technique for RF communication. Program imbeded in microcontroller unit is ran during RF signal is transmitted to other RF module. Data connected with PC and MCU is transmitted between PC and MCU during PC and MCU is connected.

  • In this paper, A method is proposed to analyze the noise figure for some parameters based on IS-98 recommendation when a RF receiver for the CDMA mobile station is designed. Simulation results show that the maximum noise figure of the receiver, which fits in the receiving sensitivity of the mobile station, is about 11dB, and this value is smaller about 3dB than the existing specification. In addition, we have tested the relationship between frame error rate and Eb/Nt of traffic channel for each coding rate. according to the speed changes of the traffic channel. In order to prove IMD to be most important variable in LNA we have tested IMD spurious in case that LNA always turns on and in case that LNA turns ON/OFF.

A Novel Hybrid Balun Circuit for 2.4 GHz Low-Power Fully-differential CMOS RF Direct Conversion Receiver (2.4 GHz 저전력 차동 직접 변환 CMOS RF 수신기를 위한 새로운 하이브리드 발룬 회로)

  • A low-power, low-noise, highly-linear hybrid balun circuit is proposed for 2.4-GHz fully differential CMOS direct conversion receivers. The hybrid balun is composed of a passive transformer and loss-compensating auxiliary amplifiers. Design issues regarding the optimal signal splitting and coupling between the transformer and compensating amplifiers are discussed. Implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the 2.4 GHz hybrid balun achieves 2.8 dB higher gain and 1.9 dB lower noise figure than its passive counterpart and +23 dBm of IIP3 only at a current consumption of 0.67 mA from 1.2 V supply. It is also examined that the hybrid balun can remarkably lower the total noise figure of a 2.4 GHz fully differential RF receiver only at a cost of 0.82 mW additional power dissipation.

  • This paper describes a GPS signal generator that can generate multiple satellite signals in real time at the RF level. It realizes the verified software algorithm on a FPGA. The algorithm models orbits and environmental errors such as ionospheric and tropospheric multipath. The position of a simulated receiver is one of simulation parameters. The hardware which consists of a digital logic board and an analog board can generate 16 simulated satellites signals at the same time. The users can generate spoofing signals and jamming signals as well as satellite signals by using the windows-based control software. In addition, the software provides GIS-based simulation scenarios editing tools. We verified the generator by using commercial receivers. As an application, we configured generators as indoor positioning systems and tested them in a building. To improve the accuracy of indoor systems is our further study.
