Perinatal Nutrition of the Calf and Its Consequences for Lifelong Productivity

  • Provision of an optimal environment for the calf is critical to establishing the patterns of growth and development essential to allow the heifer to express its genetic potential for milk output and reproductive capacity during its productive life. Maternal nutrition during gestation is now recognised as a key to genetic programming in utero and this influence is extended through the complexity of hormones, growth factors and immunostimulants incorporated into colostrum and milk consumed by the neonatal calf. This natural process is most often disrupted as calves are weaned abruptly to maximise milk output for commercial exploitation. The key then is to accelerate the rate of maturation of the ruminal epithelium through the provision of concentrate starter rations and high quality forage, which promote VFA production. Management systems to promote these processes in Holstein Friesian cattle are well developed, however, little is known of these processes with buffalo and Bos indicus dairy cattle such as the Sahiwal. The development of methods to program the neonate to grow faster to puberty in these species will be important to improving their productivity for the dairy industries in tropical and sub-tropical environments in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a business strategy plan to increase organizational effectiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. The research investigated in the level of human resource activity, such as recruitment, education, evaluation, compensation and development for the employees and executives who are working at small and medium-sized enterprises where located in Busan and Gyongnam province. With this, the research carried out actual proof analysis on the level of human resource activity effects on organization effectiveness like job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The following implications can be acquired from the result of multiple regression analysis on the 201 employees of small and medium enterprises. First, small and medium-sized enterprises should carry out human resource management activities and improve research and development capacity to enhance organization effectiveness. Second, in order to improve job satisfaction of the members of small and medium-sized enterprises, the management should concentrate on recruitment activity and reward maintenance management activity and come up with strategies to enhance learning ability and external network ability. Third, in order to enhance organizational commitment of the members of small and medium-sized enterprises, recruitment activity, training activity, and reward maintenance management activity should be carried out and the management should come up with strategies to enhance learning ability and external network ability. In this research, the objective was only to find out antecedents of organization effectiveness, but considering that causality might arise among the antecedents, in the studies hereafter, the verification on the structural relationship of various factors will be needed.

연구교육용 공간정보기술 통합플랫폼 개발 및 활용방안 (A Study on the Deveslopment and Utilization of GEospatial Platform Service for the Research and Education)

  • 최근 공간정보기술에 대한 관심도가 증가함에 따라 이와 관련하여 다양한 연구 및 교육이 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구는 국산공간정보기술의 확대 발전을 위해 연구교육용 공간정보기술 통합플랫폼(GEEPS)을 개발했다. GEEPS를 개발한 목적은 대학(원) 및 연구기관이 편리하게 활용할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 것이다. 이를 위해 오픈소스 SW와 공간정보기술 R&D 성과물을 융합하여 각각의 장점을 결합한 SW를 개발하고, GEEPS를 통해 서비스하고 있다. 또한 GEEPS 활용 모니터링 조사를 수행하였으며, 분석결과를 활용하여 활성화방안을 마련하였다. GEEPS 활성화를 위해 개발자 및 교수, 문화 관광분야 담당자 등을 대상으로 정밀한 의견조사를 수행하여 이들의 의견을 반영하고, 방문교육을 활성화하여 기관별 맞춤형교육을 수행하며, 참여마당을 활성화시킬 필요가 있다. 그리고 향후에 GEEPS를 공간지식플랫폼과 결합하거나 오픈소스 GIS 조합이 관리 운영하는 것이 타당할 것이다.

An Analysis on the Features and Effect of University Research Organization Support Programs

  • The Korean government's support towards the establishment of leading research hubs at universities began with the initiation of the Science/ Engineering Research Center in 1990. Such efforts to provide support to research organizations have continued for some twenty years in various forms, which implies that building research hubs was critical in acquiring global leadership in research. However, the effect of such research hub nurturing policies has never been properly evaluated, apart from an assessment of their validity. Therefore, this paper analyzes how major programs to form research groups by providing assistance to joint research by researchers at universities are operated, and the characteristics of such programs through comparative analysis with other programs. There are two major focal points in the analysis: the first is the evaluation of the level of differentiation between Research Organization Support Programs (ROP) and other R&D Programs from an efficiency perspective, and the second is an examination of the extent of systematization of research organizations that exist at universities and impact of Research Organization Support Programs on the activities of participating professors from an effectiveness perspective. The result showed that the ROP were no longer only relevant for the formation and maintenance of research groups. Other R&D Programs are growing increasingly larger in scale and conducted over longer periods of time. Thus, the ROP can no longer be differentiated from other programs in research period and size of funding. An analysis on the effect of ROP demonstrated that all activities by participating professors in organizations that were the beneficiaries of group research assistance were more active compared to their counterparts in organizations that received other research support, but there was little difference in the elements of systematization. This implies that the joint research conducted at universities is not systematized and that it is still research based on individual themes but conducted jointly. In addition, it also means that the ROP is failing to effectively lead the systematization of research. In other words, today, university research organizations are not operated as independent, long-term bodies, but are more relevant as a combination of research units of individual professors.

Screening and Characterization of Microorganisms with Fibrinolytic Activity from Fermented Foods

  • Fibrinolytic microorganisms were screened from 42 samples of Korean fermented food (7 kinds of Chungook-jang, 14 kinds of commercial Doen-Jang, 5 kinds of home-made Doen-jang, and 16 kinds of Jeot-gal), 15 samples of Japanese fermented food (5 kinds of home-made soybean paste, and 10 kinds of Natto), and 19 samples of Indonesian fermented food (Tempe) as well as starters of Meju (500 microflora from Korea, and 22 from China). Initially, 11 isolates with strong fibrinolytic activity were selected for further characterization. The fibrinolytic activity of the 11 isolates ranged from 89 to 199% of standard plasmin. Four strains, M5l from Korean fermented food (Meju), I 1-1, I 1-4, and I 5-1 from Indonesian fermented food (Tempe), were chosen based on the degree of activity and reproducibility, and identified as Staphylococcus sciuri, Citrobacter or Enterobacter, Enterococcus faecalis, and Bacillus subtilis, respectively. The first two isolates are pathogenic stains while the latter two are considered as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Fibrinolytic activity of E. faecalis, characterized and designated as BRCA-5, reached a maximum, when the producer was cultivated in Ml7 broth supplemented with 1.0% glucose for 5 h at 37$^{\circ}C$ with shaking at 180 rpm. Compared to commercial fibrinolytic enzymes, the cell-free culture supernatant of 5. faecaiis BRCA-5 showed stronger activity than plasmin and streptokinase, but similar degree of specific activity as nattokinase and urokinase, aud it also demonstrated anticoagulant and antiplatelet activity ex vivo. These features of E. faecalis make it an attractive agent as a biomaterial for health-promoting foods.

Genetic Diversity of Didymella bryoniae for RAPD Profiles Substantiated by SCAR Marker in Korea

  • Twenty isolates of Didymella bryoniae were isolated from infected cucurbit plants in various growing areas of southern Korea in 2001 and 2002. Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) group [RG] I of D. bryoniae was more virulent than RG IV to watermelon. Virulence of the RG I isolate was strong to moderate to cucumber, whereas that of the RG IV varied from strong, moderate to weak. Two hundred seventy-three amplified fragments were produced with 40 primers, and were analyzed by a cluster analysis using UPGMA method with an arithmetic average program of NTSYSPC. At the distance level of 0.7, two major genomic DNA RAPD groups were differentiated among 20 isolates. The RG I included 7 isolates from watermelon and one isolate from melon, whereas the RG IV included 12 isolates from squash, cucumber, watermelon and melon. Amplification of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and small subunit rRNA region from the 20 isolates yielded respectively a single fragment. Restriction pattern with 12 restriction enzymes was identical for all isolates tested, suggesting that variation in the ITS and small subunit within the D. bryoniae were low. Amplification of the genomic DNAs of the tested isolates with the sequence characterized amplified regions (SCAR) primer RG IF-RG IR specific for RG I group resulted in a single band of 650bp fragment for 8 isolates out of the 20 isolates. Therefore, these 8 isolates could be assigned into RG I. The same experiments done with RG IIF-RG IIR resulted in no amplified PCR product for the 20 isolates tested. An about 1.4 kb-fragment amplified from the RG IV isolates was specifically hybridized with PCR fragments amplified from genomic DNAs of the RG IV isolates only, suggesting that this PCR product could be used for discriminating the RG IV isolates from the RG I isolates as well other fungal species.

인적자원 개발을 위한 직무역량 규명;학습지 기업을 대상으로 (Identification of Job Competencies in Developing Human Resource;The Case of a Company which Provides a Preschool Education Program)

  • This research aims to clarify what kind of competencies are the source of the competitiveness of an enterprise and the standards for the development of human resources. Its specific objectives are the following; First, to develop methods for examining competencies to carry out one’s job. Second, to draw out the competencies necessary for carrying out the jobs by jobs on the basis of the developed methods. Third, to clarify the competencies commonly needed to carry out all kinds of jobs. This study collected materials for drawing out the competencies needed to perform 21 jobs in six job groups. This was done with the help of a panel of professionals. The process for drawing out the competencies required to perform certain job was designed in six steps. These steps combine classical methods using particular reference groups as well as model methods for particular job competencies. The materials for the R&D job were gathered for three months starting from February 2001. Materials from 20 other jobs were also collected three times from the end of May to the end of October 2001. This was done through workshops with professional groups. The highlights of this study are as follows: 1) The results applying the methods developed for drawing out job competencies to the duties of investigation & research part in R&D job were presented as an example. 2) The job competencies of the company totaled 215 in 21 jobs irrespective of overlapping, which means each job has about 10 competencies on the average. 3) The common job competencies of the whole company totaled eight. namely: competency for collecting information/processing/analyzing, communication competency, presentation competency, competency for utilizing the web, competency for planning projects, competency for solving problems, competency for understanding organization/business/products of the company, and competency for satisfying customers.

간호대학생의 비판적 사고, 셀프리더십이 학습 몰입에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Critical Thinking and Self Leadership on Learning Commitment of Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 비판적 사고, 셀프리더십과 학습 몰입 정도를 파악하고, 학습 몰입에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 시도 되었다. 연구 대상자는 D 광역시, G 광역시에 소재한 2개 간호학과 2학년 학생 196명을 대상으로 하였으며, 2018년 11월 26일부터 12월 7일까지 자료수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 사용하여 기술 통계, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson 상관계수, 다중회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 일반적 특성에 따른 학습 몰입은 학교 성적, 전공 만족도, 대인관계에 따라 유의한 차이를 보였고, 학습 몰입은 셀프리더십(r=.738, p<.001)과 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 학습 몰입에 영향을 미치는 요인은 학교 성적(β=-.212, p=.011), 전공 만족도(β=.248, p=.001), 셀프리더십(β=.598, p<.001)으로 나타났으며, 학습 몰입에 대한 이들 변인의 설명력은 58%로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 간호대학생의 학습 몰입을 향상시키기 위해서는 전공 만족도와 셀프리더십을 증진시킬 수 있는 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각한다.

산학협력기술지주회사의 운영현황과 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Industry-Academia Technology Holding Company)

  • 2008년부터 대학의 기술사업화 촉진을 위해 산학협력기술지주회사를 설립 운영하고 있다. 그동안 산학협력기술지수회사의 운영에 대한 필요성과 활성화 방안, 법적 제도적 요건 검토, 사례연구 등이 다양하게 수행되었다. 하지만 정책 수요자인 국가연구개발사업에 참여한 대학의 연구자들을 대상으로 산학협력기술지주회사의 전반적인 운영현황에 대한 종합적인 실태조사가 미흡하였다. 특히 현 시점은 산학협력기술지주회사 제도가 도입된 지 5년이 경과하여 이에 대한 정책적 점검이 요구되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 산학협력기술지주회사의 전반적인 운영현황에 대한 설문조사와 면접조사를 실시하였다. 이 실증분석 결과에 근거해서 (1)대학의 기술사업화 기반 확충과 (2)법적 제도적 지원제도 개선, (3)조직의 우수인력 확충과 책임성 확보의 세 가지 측면에서 산학협력기술지수회사의 개선방안을 제시하였다.

대학의 창업지원프로그램이 창업의도에 미치는 영향: 창업효능감의 조절효과 (Effects of Universities' Startup Support Programs on Entrepreneurial Intention of Undergraduate: Moderating Role of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy)

  • 본 연구는 대학생의 창업활성화를 제고하는데 있어 GEM 모델을 기반으로 창업지원프로그램, 창업가정신 및 창업기회인식의 선행변수와 창업효능감을 조절변수로 하여 이들이 창업의도와의 구조적 관계를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 4년제 대학생 364명을 대상으로 구조방정식모형으로 분석한 결과 첫째, 대학의 창업지원프로그램 요인 중 창업교육, 창업컨설팅, 연구개발이전, 창업문화가 대학생의 창업기회인식에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 창업교육, 창업컨설팅이 창업가정신에 유의적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 매개변수인 창업기회인식과 창업가정신은 창업의도에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 창업효능감 수준에 따라 창업기회인식과 창업가정신이 창업의도에 미치는 영향은 차이가 없음이 검증되었다. 따라서 대학생의 창업의도를 높이기 위해서는 지원정책들이 장기적 관점에서 창업교육, 창업컨설팅, 연구개발이전, 창업문화 조성에 도움이 되도록 재설계되고 지원될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
