  • In this study, the authors developed and implemented an online music-based support program to prevent burnout among university hospital nurses. This study involved 40 nurses from three university hospitals who shared their subjective experiences after participating in 8 music-based non-simultaneous online sessions. The responses were collected as qualitative data and analyzed using the qualitative content analysis method. The analysis identified 66 meaning units, 10 themes, and 3 categories, which included: 'Recovery of physical and psychological stability', 'Self-care and acceptance', and 'Rediscovery of pride and meaning as a nurse'. This study is significant for exploring the experiences of university hospital nurses who participated in a remotely implemented music-based psycho-emotional support program, with respect to burnout prevention. For future directions, we suggest a more in-depth exploration of specific burnout factors and an expansion of research through the diversification of research methods to refine programs aimed at alleviating nurse burnout.

  • In a turbulent environment, it is important for a firm to obtain competitiveness through acquiring new technologies and new knowledge. Many studies has shown that R&D has positive effects on innovation and performance. However, the limitation of resources and research personnel for SMEs leads to the needs of collaboration between government R&D and SMEs. The quantitative results of government R&D comes in the form of patents or publication of papers while the qualitative results comes in the form of commercialization (revenue increase or cost reduction) of the SMEs acquiring the technology through technology transfer. Korean government invested 16.9 Trillion Won in 2013 and achieved remarkable quantitative results but the qualitative results are still yet to be improved. The technology transfer rate in 2011 was 26.0% while the success rate of commercialization of the transferred technology is only 23.6%. Therefore it is meaningful to study the success factors of the technology commercialization in Korea. In this study, a case of technology commercialization between ETRI and Initech is studied. Initech was a venture firm which started in 1997 with 2 employees and after transfer of technology from ETRI in 1999, it has grown to a firm of 238 employees. In this study, Jolly's commercialization model was used to analyze the success factors of the commercialization. It was shown that four main factors that leads to the success are (1) mobilizing interest and endorsement through customer oriented R&D by ETRI, (2) mobilizing resources for demonstration through systematic technology commercialization process by ETRI, (3) mobilizing market constitutents through government standardization that leads to the reliability of the participants, and (4) mobilizing complementary assets for delivery by management strategies of Initech.

  • A family resilience approach aims to identify and fortify key interactional processes that enable families to withstand and rebound from disruptive life challenges. Walsh(1998) described family belief systems, organizational patterns, and communication processes as the three main keys of family resilience. The purpose of this study was to identify the three key factors of family resilience in case of divorced female single-parent families in Korea. The study participants were seven divorced mothers who were living in the institutional facility for female single-parent families. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim for analysis. The study findings were as follows. First, the participants showed positive thinking rather than fear about the adversity induced by the divorce. They also showed the senses of competence, control, and self-esteem. However, the senses of transcendence and spirituality were barely evident. Second, emotional and economic supports from parents, brothers and sisters, and community networks (i.e., mother-child protection institution, healthy family support center) enhanced the family resilience of the participants. Third, the participants showed clear communication, open emotional expression, and shared decision making. This study suggests that more counseling services and parent education be provided by healthy family support center and institutional facilities as important family resilience factors for divorced female single-parent families who are below the poverty line.

  • This study conducted in-depth interviews of seven parents with autistic adults and analyzed them using qualitative case study methods in order to understand overall meaning of care experiences of parents with autistic adult children. Thus, four key topics which are 'experience of embracement', 'experience of anticipation', 'experience of despair', 'experience of resistance' were constructed. Under these key topics, 12 subcategories which are 'accepting reality', 'positive experience', 'gradual improvement', 'desire to provide better quality of life', 'expectation towards the society', 'strenuous lives', 'psychological exhaustion', 'predicted anxiety', 'defensive attitude', 'distrust of social welfare', 'confronting injustice', 'active behaviors' were constructed. According to the analysis, care experiences of parents with autistic adults are not segmentary, but they are intertwined which make them more dynamic. Thus, easing their despair, empowering positiveness to them, and assisting them to have healthy resistant voice are needed to support the parents with autistic adults. Based on the analysis, we suggest an intervention plan to support autistic adults and their parents.

For this, the researcher enacted the Narrative therapy group work on the 12 elderly with palsy for seven sessions, and analysed these data through qualitative case study method. The results of this study are as follows. First, the elderly with palsy became to recognize the elderly with dementia as 'the people suffering from dementia' rather than 'the problem', and tried to care them rather than to blame. Second, they became to recognize themselves as 'component people' rather than 'the victim'. Third, they grew intimate and collaborated with themselves. Fourth, they participated actively in day care center. It was discussed connection between these changes and narrative therapy skills, such as to separate problem from people, to respect client as expert for one's problem, to seek unique outcome. The recommendation is suggested that it is important to enlarge choice to participate for long-term care service consumer and to apply narrative therapy on the elderly.

Psychological capital includes four different components: self-efficacy, optimism, hope and resiliency. Organizational commitment comprises three different components: affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment. The study uses the combination of quantitative research method and qualitative research method. Qualitative research method (based on the experts' opinions) is used to design the official questionnaire, while relationship between concepts is estimated by quantitative research method, which is inclusive of the methods of descriptive statistics, Cronbach's Alpha, EFA, CFA and CB-SEM. The survey is conducted in two ways: face-to-face and via email. Data are collected from 848 employees across provinces and cities in Vietnam.
