In this study, in order to improve the disadvantages of the environmental error of the infusion set that performs infusion therapy in the existing clinical practice and to maximize the user's convenience by miniaturizing the existing infusion pump system, the structure of the muscle pump of the human vein was imitated. As a double check valve method, a method for preventing the backflow of fluid and discharging a constant fluid in one direction by external pressure was proposed. The proposed bio-mimic muscle pump uses a check valve that controls the flow of fluid in one direction and a silicone tube with elasticity, and a chamber is constructed. A peristaltic pump for applying intermittent pressure to the tube chamber was constructed using a multi-cam structure roller. In order to verify the performance of the proposed pump, optimization was performed while changing the number of multi-cam rollers and adjusting the speed of the roller driving motor, and the reproducibility of the instantaneous discharge amount and the continuous discharge amount of the pump was compared and tested. The performance of the muscle pump proposed in this study was verified through experiments that it can inject up to 1L of fluid within 12 hours, and that it is possible to inject the fluid with an accuracy of ±0.1ml. Real-time monitoring of the fluid injection volume through the bio-mimic muscle pump proposed in this study not only increases the convenience of the administrator, but also provides a precise fluid administration environment to more patients at a low cost, and additionally applies bubble detection and occlusion detection technology If so, it is believed that a safer medical environment can be provided to patients.
Background/Aims Potassium-competitive acid blockers are expected to be the next generation of drugs for the treatment of diseases caused by gastric acid. In 2015, vonoprazan fumarate, a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, was approved by the Japanese health insurance system. Since its approval, patients refractory to vonoprazan can be encountered in clinical settings. We designed this study to clarify the pathophysiology of gastroesophageal reflux disease refractory to vonoprazan. Methods In this retrospective study, we involved patients who had refractory symptoms after administration of standard-dose proton pump inhibitors or vonoprazan and underwent diagnostic testing with esophageal high-resolution manometry and 24-hour multichannel intraluminal impedance and pH monitoring while using proton pump inhibitors or vonoprazan. Patients were diagnosed based on the Rome IV criteria for functional gastrointestinal disorders and diagnostic test results. Results Twenty-seven patients were analyzed during this study. Gastric pH ${\geq}4$ was sustained for a longer period of time, and the esophageal acid exposure time and number of acid reflux events were shorter in the vonoprazan group than in the proton pump inhibitor group. The percentage of patients diagnosed with acidic gastroesophageal reflux disease in the vonoprazan group was lower than that in the proton pump inhibitor group. Conclusions Intra-gastric pH and acid reflux were strongly suppressed by 20-mg vonoprazan. When patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease present symptoms after administration of 20-mg vonoprazan, the possibility of pathophysiologies other than acid reflux should be considered.
This paper presents the heating performance analysis results of a heat pump system using a dual heat source. In this paper, a dual heat source refers to the ground-coupled heat exchanger using both a surface water heat exchanger (SWHE) and a vertical ground heat exchanger (VGHE). In order to evaluate the system performance, we installed a monitoring system to measure the temperature and power consumption of a heat pump and then collected operation data with 4 different load burdened ratios of the dual heat source heat exchanger. During the whole measurement period, the average heating capacity of a water-to-water heat pump unit was 37.3 kW. In addition, the compressor of the heat pump consumed 9.4 kW of power, while the circulating pump of the dual heat source heat exchanger used 6.7 kW of power. Therefore the average heating coefficient of performance (COP) for the heat pump unit was 4.0, while the entire system including the circulating pump was 2.7. Finally, the parallel use of SWHE and VGHE was beneficial to the system performance; however, further researches are needed to optimize the design data for various load ratios of the dual heat source heat exchanger.

The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.
In this study, the reliability of a commercial ER-type corrosion sensor was evaluated under an accelerated corrosion environment to verify its suitability for application in monitoring of ship's seawater piping system. A closed-loop pump piping testbed was designed and constructed to compare the wall thickness reduction of the pipe and the response from the sensor. The sensor was attached inside the pipe near the outlet of the pump that was exposed to a 3.5% NaCl solution with or without copper accelerated acetic acid (CASS). The results demonstrated that the presence of CASS significantly increased the corrosivity of the solution as well as the thickness reduction of the pipe, as expected. On the other hand, the corrosion products formed by the solution with CASS were thicker compared with those without CASS. The sensor response to temperature variation was found to be a clear linear relationship for the solution without CASS but there was a non-linear relationship where CASS was present.
This study was designed to compare the effects of continuous release of an anti-glaucoma drug applied by an osmotic pump and by conventional eye drop instillation in normal beagle dogs, by measuring drug concentration in the blood and monitoring intra-ocular pressure (IOP). In group 1, an osmotic pump filled with Trusopt® was implanted subcutaneously over the right eye of each dog and the IOP was measured. In group 2, the right eye of each dog was administered with 2% dorzolamide (Trusopt®, Merck, USA) three times per day. Blood was sampled once per week in all groups. The IOP of the end of this study was 16.7 ± 0.58 mmHg in group 2 and 17.7 ± 2.52 mmHg in group 2. Dorzolamide concentration in blood increased continuously over 4 weeks up to 585.8 ± 79.42 ㎍/L in group 1, and 747.3 ± 27.89 ㎍/L in group 2. We achieved satisfactory results in the osmotic pump group, which had a similar effect on IOP, and low fluctuations in IOP. Therefore, the results of this study should allow osmotic pumps to be consider as an alternative method to eye drops for the effective, safe, and convenient treatment of glaucoma.
The diagnosis of the failure for the existing electrical facilities was based on regular preventive maintenance, but this preventive maintenance was limited in preventing a lot of cost loss and sudden system failure. To overcome these shortcomings, fault prediction and diagnostic techniques are critical to increasing system reliability by monitoring electrical installations in real time and detecting abnormal conditions in the facility early. As the performance and quality deterioration problem occurs frequently due to the increase in the number of users of the motor pump, the purpose is to build an intelligent control system that can control the motor pump to maximize the performance and to improve the quality and reliability. To this end, a vibration sensor, temperature sensor, pressure sensor, and low water level sensor are used to detect vibrations, temperatures, pressures, and low water levels that can occur in the motor pump, and to build a system that can identify and diagnose information to users in real time.
This paper presents the cooling performance analysis results of a ground-source heat pump (GSHP) system using hybrid ground heat exchanger (HGHE). In this paper, the HGHE refers to the ground heat exchanger (GHE) using both a vertical GHE and a surface water heat exchanger (SWHE). In order to evaluate the system performance, we installed monitoring sensors for measuring temperatures and power consumption, and then measured operation data with 4 different load burdened ratios of the hybrid GHE, Mode 1~Mode 4. The measurement results show that the system with HGHE mainly operates in Mode 1 and Mode 2 over the entire measurement period. The average cooling coefficient of performance (COP) for heat pump unit was 5.18, while the system was 2.79. In steady state, the heat pump COP was slightly decreased with an increase of entering source temperature. In addition, the parallel use of SWHE and VGHE was beneficial to the system performance; however, further research are needed to optimize the design data for various load ratios of the HGHE.
In order to solve the increasing deterioration of the energy shortage problem, ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems have been widely installed. The control method is a significant component for maintaining the long-term performance and for reducing operation cost of GSHP systems. This paper presents the measurement and analysis results of the cooling performance of a GSHP system using capacity control with outdoor air temperature. For this, we installed monitoring equipments including sensors for measuring temperature, flow rate and power consumption, and then monitored operation parameters from July 9, 2021 to October 2, 2021. From measurement results, we analyze the effect of capacity control with outdoor air temperature on the cooling performance of the system. The average performace factor (PF) of the heat pump was 6.95, while the whole system was 5.54 over the measurement period. Because there was no performance data of the existing GSHP system, it was not possible to directly compare the existing control method and the outdoor air temperature method. However, it is expected that the performance of the entire system will be improved by adjusting the temperature of cold water produced by the heat pump, that is, the temperature of cold water on the load side according to the outside air temperature.
This study is aimed to develop a safety diagnosis system for fire pumps that detects normal and abnormal signals for the stable operation of the system. Hence, the following activities were carried out: first, a threshold value was identified for the normal operation and six abnormal operations (adherence of impeller, absence of water source, separation of pump and motor, run-stop operation, air inflow into the casing, and reverse-phase loss of the power line) reflecting changes in the current, flow and pressure of fire pumps; secondly, based on the identified signals, an algorithm capable of detecting three abnormal signals was developed and in terms of hardware, a current, pressure and flow sensor suitable for the analogue input values of NI-6009 was designed and installed. This combination of the hardware and software is applicable as a diagnosis system to ensure the stable operation of fire pumps.
