The scores of health practices were higher in male students than female students (P 0.05). Perception rates of university clinics were higher in female students than male students. (P 0.01). Many students have intention to use the clinics (P 0.01). On health promotion program 35.2% of the subjects used clinics for emergency service, 32.8% participated in drinking control program, 32.8% in smoking cessation program, 20.4% in immunization program and 19.2% in regular health screening program. Conclusions: Comprehensive data for health behavior and need of health promotion services by the students should be collected regularly in order to meet the needs of students and faculty members in higher education institutes. The university authorities should pay more attention on the activities of health clinics in order to promote health of the students.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate perception and satisfaction with Health Education for elementary school students in grade 5 and 6, using data on national health education gathered since March, 2009. Methods: Data were collected by way of a questionnaire, from 475 elementary school students in grades 5 and 6 from February 1~15, 2010. Statistical analysis of collected data was performed using frequency, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 18.0 software. Result: Levels of health promoting behavior, interest, importance, and satisfaction were relatively high, respectively, and those of students in grade 5 were higher than those of students in grade 6. Levels of Satisfaction with frequency and educational environment were relatively low. Among the factors found to influence satisfaction with health education, interest in health education was found to be the most influential(grade 5:${\beta}$=.279, p<.001, grade 6:${\beta}$=.306, p<.001). Conclusion: Students expressed a high level of satisfaction with regular health education. Expansion of health education frequency and health education-only-classrooms is needed. To improve the effect of health education, constant acquisition of knowledge of subjects' perception and satisfaction is needed. In addition, contents and teaching methods that showed low level of satisfaction should be reformed.

High self-efficacy and high self-esteem showed concern for health care (p<0.001). 2. Health promotion behaviors had significantly positive correlation with self efficacy, self esteem, and perceived health condition. 3. Self efficacy, self esteem, and major, concern for health-related goods, perceived health condition accounted for 40.8% of the total variance in health promotion behaviors. Conclusions : The result revealed that undergraduate students should take exercise and diet control for their health. Self-efficacy is the most important predictor of health promotion behaviors. • A comparative study of the dental health perception and dental health behaviors among 12,325 middle and high school students in urban and rural areas was conducted by using "2010 National Dental Health Investigation". The results of this study are as follows. For the dental health perception and the utilization of dental service, all middle and high school students had a low perception of the their dental health status toward the farming and fishing regions from the urban. For the time of tooth-brushing among the dental health behaviors, most middle and high school students brushed their teeth after lunch. In connection with the frequency of cariogenic snack intake, high school students had a greater percentage toward the farming and fishing regions from the urban. For the dental health status, middle school students in big cities had a high average of carious permanent teeth, but high school students had a high average of carious permanent teeth toward the farming and fishing regions from the urban. In other words, there was no significant difference in missing permanent teeth, filling permanent teeth and decay permanent teeth between middle school students by region, but high school students had a greater percentage of the dental health perception and dental health behaviors toward the farming and fishing regions from the urban, showing a little difference. Consequently, there was a relationship between middle and high school students' perception of dental health and their behaviors of dental health.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to identify health-promoting behaviors and related factors by type of residence between two groups of college students: those who live in dormitories and those who commute from home. Methods: We used the data from 2,287 students (870 male, 1417 female) from 14 colleges in Daegu and Kyungpook areas and compared health-promoting practice scores, general characteristics, health environment, and parental support. Multiple regression analysis was performed with health-promoting practice scores as a dependent variable. Results: Dormitory residents presented significantly lower health-promoting practice scores than commuters in both gender. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors associated with health-promoting behaviors were health environment (p<0.05) and parental influence/support (p<0.01) for male dormitory residents. For female dormitory residents interest in health(p<0.05), stress(p<0.05), and parental influence/support(p<0.01) were associated. Conclusions: Systematic development of health education programs would be needed for the practice of health promotion behavior of college dormitory students with the help of environmental and institutional support. We suggest a program for stress management, smoking, health behavior, and alcohol and a parental program to increase contact with their children for a positive parental influence and support.
