The Internet is one of the most infrastructure for information technology in school education. Providing the Internet with a proper bandwidth is an important element for efficient school education for information technology, especially because several instructional models based on new Internet technologies are under development. To support these instructional models, it is important for the schools to provide the proper Internet bandwidth wherever necessary. In this paper, the amount and pattern of internet usage in school were analyzed. Based on this analysis, we propose how to figure out a proper bandwidth for a different ladder of schools.

This paper proposes a new measurement method for the effective measurement of the 99% occupied bandwidth (OBW) at monitoring stations. Although the OBW measurement of radio signal is recommended by the International Telecommunication Union Radio (ITU-R) with several methods, there still does not exist a clear measurement recommendation or standard for terrestrial DTV signal on-air environment. Modified adjacent channel power ratio (MACPR), which can be applied to 8-VSB (Vestigial Side Band) DTV (Digital Television) signal, is herein defined to verify the results of measurements obtained using the proposed measurement method. MACPR is a proper measuring parameter for determining the measuring area of a monitoring station. From measurement results obtained in real field environment, it has been found that the OBW of 8-VSB DTV signal can be effectively measured in areas where the MACPR value is over 35 dB and when the measurements are repeated more than 600 times in the same reception site. It also has been verified that measured results are within an error range of +/-0.1% compared to results directly obtained at a transmission station. It is expected that the proposed method is able to be employed in order to determine the proper location of monitoring station and provide a reliable OBW measurement procedure for 8-VSB DTV signal on-air environment.

Video streaming application such as YouTube is one of the most popular mobile applications. To adjust the quality of video for available network bandwidth, a streaming server provides multiple representations of video of which bit rate has different bandwidth requirements. A streaming client utilizes an adaptive bit rate scheme to select a proper video representation that the network can support. The download behavior of video streaming client player is governed by several parameters such as maximum buffer size. Especially, the size of the maximum playback buffer in the client player can greatly affect the user experience. To tackle this problem, in this paper, we propose the maximum buffer size optimization according to available network bandwidth and buffer status. Our simulation study shows that our proposed buffer size optimization scheme successfully mitigates playback stalls while preserving the similar quality of streaming video compared to existing ABR schemes.

Recently, the applications of Internet of Things (IoTs) are growing rapidly. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) becomes an emerging technology to provide the low power wireless connectivity for IoTs. The IPv6 over low-power wireless personal area networks (6LoWPAN) has been proposed by IETF, which gives each WSN device an IPv6 address to connect with the Internet. The transmission congestion in IoTs could be a problem when a large numbers of sensors are deployed in the field. Therefore, it is important to consider whether the WSN devices have be completely integrated into the Internet with proper quality of service (QoS) requirements. The Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new architecture of network decoupling the data and control planes, and using the logical centralized control to manage the forwarding issues in large-scale networks. In this research, the SDN-based 6LoWPAN Border Router (6LBR) is proposed to integrate the transmission from WSNs to Internet. The proposed SDN-based 6LBR communicating between WSNs and the Internet will bring forward the requirements of end-to-end QoS with bandwidth guarantee. Based on our experimental results, we have observed that the selected 6LoWPAN traffic flows achieve lower packet loss rate in the Internet. Therefore, the 6LoWPAN traffic flows classified by SDN-based 6LBR can be reserved for the required bandwidth in the Internet to meet the QoS requirements.

Data compression at the transport layer could both reduce transmitted bytes over network links and increase the transmitted application data (TCP PDU) in one RTT at the same network conditions. Therefore, it is able to improve transmission efficiency on Internet, especially on the networks with limited bandwidth or long delay links. In this paper, we propose an on-the-fly TCP data compression scheme, i.e., the TCPComp, to enhance TCP performance. This scheme is primarily composed of the compression decision mechanism and the compression ratio estimation algorithm. When the application data arrives at the transport layer, the compression decision mechanism is applied to determine which data block could be compressed. The compression ratio estimation algorithm is employed to predict compression ratios of upcoming application data for determining the proper size of the next data block so as to maximize compression efficiency. Furthermore, the assessment criteria for TCP data compression scheme are systematically developed. Experimental results show that the scheme can effectively reduce transmitted TCP segments and bytes, leading to greater transmission efficiency compared with the standard TCP and other TCP compression schemes.
Measuring the end-to-end available bandwidth in the Internet is a useful tool for distributedapplication services or QoS (Quality-of-Service) guarantee. To measure the end-to-end available bandwidth, Single-hop Gap model-based packet train measurement techniques are well-known. However, the error of packet train output gap can happen by network topologies. This error of the output gap causes the inaccuracy of the available bandwidth measurement. In this paper, we propose a new end-to-end available bandwidth measurement technique with accurate capacity measurement and fast convergence methods. To solve the erroneous capacity measurement problem of the back-to-back packet train transmission, we propose a new available bandwidth measurement method by decoupling the capacity measurement with the initial gap of the packet train. Also, we propose a new technique to predict the proper initial gap of the packet train for faster convergence. We evaluate our proposed method by the simulation in various topologies comparing with previous methods.
In this paper, we propose a novel dynamic subchannel grouping (DSG) algorithm to maximize the system capacity considering intended proper outage probability for the downlink of enterprise small-cell networks (ESNs). In the proposed DSG scheme, a local gateway (LGW) which is installed in a building dynamically divides the frequency bandwidth into different numbers of subchannel groups (SGs) based on the numbers of small-cell access points (SAPs) and small-cell user equipments (SUEs) per floor. Then, the LGW assigns the SGs to SAPs and the SAPs allocate them to their serving SUEs. Through simulation results, we show that the proposed DSG scheme is appropriate for the ESNs compared to the conventional small-cell networks in which all SAPs use the number of fixed SGs in terms of the system capacity and outage probability.

In this paper, we propose a smart HLS(HTTP Live Stream) platform with dynamic single buffering for the best transmission of adaptive video bit-rates. This smart HLS can optimizes the channel transition zapping-time with the monitoring of bandwidth between HLS server and OTT(Over The Top) client. This platform is designed through the control of video stream due to proper multi-bitrates and bandwidths. This proposed OTT can decode the live and VOD(Video On Demand) videos with the buffering of optimumal bitrate. And, the HLS can be cooperated with a smart OTT, and segmented for the m3u8 files of H.265 MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream) videos. As a resullt, this single buffer based smart OTT can transmit optimal videos with the maximum data buffering according to the adaptive bit-rate depending on the network bandwidth efficiency and the decoded VOD video, too.

Increase of internet users and new types of applied traffics, have led to demand for more bandwidth for each application. Hence, the amount of internet traffic has risen sharply and it has demanded to use limited resources, such as wavelength and bandwidth, more effectively. These kind of needs can be satisfied with OXC(Optical cross-connects) based on GMPLS that carry out IP packet switching and wavelength switching at the same time and Provide very wide bandwidth. In RSVP-TE signaling of GMPLS studied by IETF. every lambda router in core network should be able to convert wavelength. So, lots of wavelength converters and needed and building and managing cost is high. Another problem is that optimized traffic is limited. In this paper We suggest strengthened GMPLS RSVP-TE signaling algorithm for a better lightpath setup. When setup signaling is blocked suggested algorithm does not send PathErr message to Edge Router, but looks for nearest lambda router which can convert wavelength and carry out setup signaling from that node. Such algorithm can reduce the chance of blocked lightpath setup signaling and provide effective arrangement of lambda router in core network by calculating proper number of wavelength converter.

This paper examines the feasibility of using periodically varying dielectric layers with dielectric constant ${\epsilon}_1$ and ${\epsilon}_2$ at millimeter wave frequency for implementing the frequency-selective reflectors that permit feed separation in large aperture reflecting antenna systems. For oblique incidence, it is found that the total reflection can be obtained at different frequencies for proper choices of ${\epsilon}_1$, ${\epsilon}_2$ and the geometric parameters. In the frequency-selective reflector designed, the bandwidth for 90% reflection is always found to be much narrower than that for 90% transmission.
