  • Typhoons are representative oceanic and atmospheric phenomena that cause interactions within the Earth's system with diverse influences. In recent decades, the typhoons have tended to strengthen due to rapidly changing climate. The 2022 revised science curriculum emphasizes the importance of teaching-learning activities using advanced science and technology to cultivate digital literacy as a citizen of the future society. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the temporal and spatial limitations of textbook illustrations and to develop effective instructional materials using global-scale big data covered in the field of earth science. In this study, according to the procedure of the PDIE (Preparation, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model, the inquiry activity data was developed to visualize the track of the typhoon using the image data of GK-2A. In the preparatory stage, the 2015 and 2022 revised curriculum and the contents of the inquiry activities of the current textbooks were analyzed. In the development stage, inquiry activities were organized into a series of processes that can collect, process, visualize, and analyze observational data, and a GUI (Graphic User Interface)-based visualization program that can derive results with a simple operation was created. In the implementation and evaluation stage, classes were conducted with students, and classes using code and GUI programs were conducted respectively to compare the characteristics of each activity and confirm its applicability in the school field. The class materials presented in this study enable exploratory activities using actual observation data without professional programming knowledge which is expected to contribute to students' understanding and digital literacy in the field of earth science.

  • Typhoons are significant meteorological phenomena that cause interactions among the ocean, atmosphere, and land within Earth's system. In particular, wind speed, a key characteristic of typhoons, is influenced by various factors such as central pressure, trajectory, and sea surface temperature. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding based on actual observational data is essential. In the 2015 revised secondary school textbooks, typhoon wind speed is presented through text and illustrations; hence, exploratory activities that promote a deeper understanding of wind speed are necessary. In this study, we developed a data visualization program with a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate the understanding of typhoon wind speeds with simple operations during the teaching-learning process. The program utilizes red-green-blue (RGB) image data of Typhoons Mawar, Guchol, and Bolaven -which occurred in 2023- from the Korean geostationary satellite GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK-2A) as the input data. The program is designed to calculate typhoon wind speeds by inputting cloud movement coordinates around the typhoon and visualizes the wind speed distribution by inputting parameters such as central pressure, storm radius, and maximum wind speed. The GUI-based program developed in this study can be applied to typhoons observed by GK-2A without errors and enables scientific exploration based on actual observations beyond the limitations of textbooks. This allows students and teachers to collect, process, analyze, and visualize real observational data without needing a paid program or professional coding knowledge. This approach is expected to foster digital literacy, an essential competency for the future.

  • The construction industry is renowned for its dynamic and intricate characteristics, which demand proficient leadership skills for successful project management. However, the existing training platforms within this sector often overlook the significance of soft skills in leadership development. These platforms primarily focus on safety, work processes, and technical modules, leaving a noticeable gap in preparing future leaders, especially students in the construction domain, for the complex challenges they will encounter in their professional careers. It is crucial to recognize that effective leadership in construction projects requires not only technical expertise but also the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and navigate complex relationships. These soft skills are critical for managing teams, resolving conflicts, and driving successful project outcomes. In addition, the construction sector has been slow in adopting and harnessing the potential of advanced emerging technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, to enhance the soft skills of future leaders. Therefore, there is a need for a platform where students can practice complex situations and conversations in a safe and repeatable training environment. To address these challenges, this study proposes a pioneering approach by integrating conversational AI techniques using large language models (LLMs) within virtual worlds. Although LLMs like ChatGPT possess extensive knowledge across various domains, their responses may lack relevance in specific contexts. Prompt engineering techniques are utilized to ensure more accurate and effective responses, tailored to the specific requirements of the targeted users. This involves designing and refining the input prompts given to the language model to guide its response generation. By carefully crafting the prompts and providing context-specific instructions, the model can generate responses that are more relevant and aligned with the desired outcomes of the training program. The proposed system offers interactive engagement to students by simulating diverse construction site roles through conversational AI based agents. Students can face realistic challenges that test and enhance their soft skills in a practical context. They can engage in conversations with AI-based avatars representing different construction site roles, such as machine operators, laborers, and site managers. These avatars are equipped with AI capabilities to respond dynamically to user interactions, allowing students to practice their communication and negotiation skills in realistic scenarios. Additionally, the introduction of AI instructors can provide guidance, feedback, and coaching tailored to the individual needs of each student, enhancing the effectiveness of the training program. The AI instructors can provide immediate feedback and guidance, helping students improve their decision-making and problem-solving abilities. The proposed immersive learning environment is expected to significantly enhance leadership competencies of students, such as communication, decision-making and conflict resolution in the practical context. This study highlights the benefits of utilizing conversational AI in educational settings to prepare construction students for real-world leadership roles. By providing hands-on, practical experience in dealing with site-specific challenges, students can develop the necessary skills and confidence to excel in their future roles.

  • ERP is a new technique of process innovation. It indicates enterprise resource planning whose purpose is an integrated total management of enterprise resources. ERP can be also seen as one of the latest management systems that organically connects by using computers all business processes including marketing, production and delivery and control those processes on a real-time basis. Currently, however, it's not easy for local enterprises to have operators who will be in charge of ERP programs, even if they want to introduce the resource management system. This suggests that it's urgently needed to train such operators through ERP education at school. But in the field of education, actually, the lack of professional ERP instructors and less effective learning programs for industrial applications of ERP are obstacles to bringing up ERP workers who are competent as much as required by enterprises. In ERP, accounting is more important than any others. Accountants are assuming more and more roles in ERP. Thus, there's a rapidly increasing demand for experts in ERP accounting. This study examined previous researches and literature concerning ERP education, identified problems with current ERP education at college and proposed how to solve the problems. This study proposed the ways of improving ERP education at college as follows. First, a prerequisite learning of ERP, that is, educating the principle of accounting should be intensified to make students get a basic theoretical knowledge of ERP enough. Second, lots of different scenarios designed to try ERP programs in business should be created. In association, students should be educated to get a better understanding of incidents or events taken place in those scenarios and apply it to trying ERP for themselves. Third, as mentioned earlier, ERP is a system that integrates all enterprise resources such as marketing, procurement, personnel management, remuneration and production under the framework of accounting. It should be noted that under ERP, business activities are organically connected with accounting modules. More importantly, those modules should be recognized not individually, but as parts comprising a whole flow of accounting. This study has a limitation because it is a literature research that heavily relied on previous studies, publications and reports. This suggests the need to compare the efficiency of ERP education between before and after applying what this study proposed to improve that education. Also, it's needed to determine students' and professors' perceived effectiveness of current ERP education and compare and analyze the difference in that perception between the two groups.
