The engineering use of CFD is recently extending to the prediction of maneuvering characteristics, response to waves, propeller performance, and so on. The focus of the research is shifting to simulation of more complex processes. Typical examples of such processes are bow or stern slamming, green water problem, propeller cavitation, hull-propeller interaction, or drag reduction by bubble injection. Those processes are characterized by keywords such as high nonlinearity, unsteadiness, multiphase flow. In this paper, two new attempts which have been recently made by the author's research group are presented. One is the prediction of propeller cavitation and its effect to the ship hull. The other is the application to the drag reduction by use of air bubbles.
The current study explored a pedagogical possibility of utilizing magic as a source of communicative tasks for young learners in developing their English speaking proficiency. Fifteen primary school students participated in the study, which consisted of a 17-week period of task-based English instruction and data collection. The participants were instructed to accomplish various types of magic task through collaborative group interaction. The data collected for the study pertained to the students' linguistic outputs, interactions in group and attitudes to English learning. They were analyzed for how magic tasks affect the students' English proficiency developments and group interactions. The study results suggested the significant improvement in the students' English speaking proficiencies. They revealed that magic tasks contributed to a) enhancing the motivation to speak in English, b) stimulating the creative and problem-solving processes, and c) providing the sufficient opportunity to repeat and internalize the target expressions. The study results also indicated that the students' satisfaction with their group members and tasks seemed to have positive influences on their interactions in group and English proficiency development. Further discussion and pedagogical implications are provided as well as the study limitations.

To realize magnetic sails, momentum of the solar wind should be efficiently transferred to a spacecraft via magnetic field, which is produced around a spacecraft. In this paper, two important physical processes are addressed: 1) diffusive processes caused by plasma turbulence at the magnetospheric boundary around the spacecraft; and 2) field aligned current loops that will electrically connect the magnetospheric boundary and the spacecraft. The idea of the magnetic sails will be demonstrated by an experimental simulator, in which a fast plasma beam will penetrate into a dipole magnetic field. For that purpose, the two important physical processes should be scaled down to a small laboratory experiment in a space chamber. From the scaling considerations, the interaction can be scaled down if high-speed and high-density $(10^{19}m^{-3})$ plasma jet is used with 1-T-class magnetic field.
Recently, as the importance of forced indoor living has increased in the untact era, the connection and relationship between space environments is increasing. That is, the smart interaction environment for providing services in various spaces collects and processes a number of surrounding environment information through various sensors to provide desired information according to the required place and time. In this environment, a new type of interaction paradigm is needed for the user to select and focus on environmental information. In this paper, we provide guidelines based on models and patterns for designing various interactions around space. Through interaction model-based technology, we provide guidelines for space-oriented interaction design. We propose an ideal interaction environment through guideline-based patterns and templates. Finally, by providing a space-oriented interaction environment suitable for smart interaction, users can freely obtain desired information.
The purpose of this review is to establish a groundwork for building a more comprehensive conceptual framework within which various aspects of sibling relations and factor related to sibling behaviors con be explained and integrated. Descriptions of the trends and shifts in sibling studies are made in terms of their themes, variables, basic perceptions and general approaches, and analyzes of current state of sibling researches are made with relation to the conceptual aspects of the studies, namely, their standpoints on the issues of sibling variations, the sources of variations, and basic units of analysis, their reliance or emphasis on different methods, and their interests in the mediation processes. It is recognized that research variables have been successively differentiated and used in diversified manners and family ecology and systems theory viewpoints have been incorporated into the understanding of sibling relations. A triad in its full meaning, rather than a dyad or a partial trial, is proposed as a unit of analysis in order for the researchers to be able to examine and describe the true interactional aspects of family relations involving sibling relations. The concepts of coexistence and interaction are proposed as key concepts os that the inconsistencies in findings, differing viewpoints, contradicting conceptions , and contrasting approaches can be interpreted and integrated into a unified system of theories on siblings. The coexistence of similarities and differences in reality. the inevitability of interaction between individual variables and environmental variables and between within-family environmental factors and our-of-family environmental factors, and the need for the joint use of intrafamilial and extrafamilial approach are acknowledged. Attention is also drawn to the mechanism characteristics and the directionality of the mediating processes of mediating variables between a variable and its effects.

The defining feature of Parkinson's disease is a progressive and selective demise of dopaminergic neurons. A recent report on Parkinson's disease animal model demonstrates that poly (ADP-ribose) (PAR) dependent cell death, also named parthanatos, is accountable for selective dopaminergic neuronal loss. Parthanatos is a programmed necrotic cell death, characterized by PARP1 activation, apoptosis inducing factor (AIF) nuclear translocation, and large scale DNA fragmentation. Besides cell death regulation via interaction with AIF, PAR molecule mediates diverse cellular processes including genomic stability, cell division, transcription, epigenetic regulation, and stress granule formation. In this review, we will discuss the roles of PARP1 activation and PAR molecules in the pathological processes of Parkinson's disease. Potential interaction between PAR molecule and Parkinson's disease protein interactome are briefly introduced. Finally, we suggest promising points of therapeutic intervention in the pathological PAR signaling cascade to halt progression in Parkinson's disease.

In this paper, we develop a gesture-based input device equipped with accelerometers and gyroscopes. The sensors measure the inertial measurements, i.e., accelerations and angular velocities produced by the movement of the system when a user is inputting gestures on a plane surface or in a 3D space. The gyroscope measurements are integrated to give orientation of the device and consequently used to compensate the accelerations. The compensated accelerations are doubly integrated to yield the position of the device. With this approach, a user's gesture input trajectories can be recovered without any external sensors. Three versions of motion tracking algorithms are provided to cope with wide spectrum of applications. Then, a Bayesian network based recognition system processes the recovered trajectories to identify the gesture class. Experimental results convincingly show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed gesture input device. In order to show practical use of the proposed input method, we implemented a prototype system, which is a gesture-based remote controller (Magic Wand).
The purpose of this study was to analyze the patterns and features of interaction in teacher interviewing with high school students' small group for biology learning. The interactions in variety between the students and between the students and the teacher were made as the interviews with each small group were repeated to feedback for biology learning. The patterns of interaction were categorized into four types by interactive level of interaction among group members and a teacher: leader representation without interaction among students and the teacher(LR, leader representation), interaction among a part of students and the teacher(PSI, partial students interaction), active interaction among students inside the group, but only interaction between the teacher and the leader student(SAI, students active interaction), and interaction between all of the students and the teacher(teacher-students active interaction). Even though complex patterns of interactions were made among the students at the initial stage of insufficient understanding on the study concept, the simple interaction processes were shown as students had gradually completed the understanding on the concept. It was displayed that the interaction in the small group for biology study provides the opportunity to confirm and understand the concept to the students who were poor at the understanding on the concept, and it can influence positively on the mutual creation of study concept.

${\alpha}$-synuclein (${\alpha}$-syn) is known to be implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease and transiently bind to biological vesicles. In this study, we examined the effect of molecular crowding on the interaction of ${\alpha}$-syn with biological vesicles by using inert polymers since the environment of proteins in cells are crowded with other macromolecules. The addition of different polymers including polyethylene glycol, dextran, and ficoll enhanced the binding of ${\alpha}$-syn to vesicles in a concentration-dependent manner and the association of ${\alpha}$-syn with vesicle was proportionally augmented by increased expression of ${\alpha}$-syn. However, molecular crowding had a neglectable effect on the vesicle binding of ${\alpha}$-syn mutants (A30P, TG6), which has been reported to show impaired vesicle binding capacity. These results suggest that transient interaction of ${\alpha}$-syn with vesicles occurs more commonly in cells than expected implying interaction with vesicles may be one of the physiological processes in which ${\alpha}$-syn is involved.

Chlorsulfuron, one of sulfonylurea herbicides acts through inhibition of acetolactate syuthase (EC 4.1.3.18; ALS, also known as acetohydroxyacid synthase) in the branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis process. After chlorsulfuron-ALS interaction, many physiological and metabolic disruptions occur in plants. However, it is not clear how this chlorsulfuron-ALS interaction affects those physiological and metabolic processes and how this interaction leads subsequently to plant death. Several researchers suggested that the death of chlorsulfuron-treated plants might be due to a shortage of the branched-chain amino acids, an accumulation of toxic metabolites, and/or a depletion of photoassimilates. It remains as a mystery presently, however, if such changes result in the plant death. In this review, we discussed how the chlorsulfuran-ALS interaction leads to physiological and metabolic disruptions in plants.
