This study identified problems in reading for future careers and suggests approaches to solve the identified problems by analyzing the fundamental vocational competence and reading for a future career. The study included 457 students in the liberal arts college (humanities and education programs) at "A" university. In accordance with the analysis, communication ability (average 3.61), interpersonal relation ability (3.59), literacy (3.40) and problem solving ability (3.39) were relatively high in fundamental vocational competence, while numeracy (2.72) and entrepreneurship (2.89) were low. Next, 65.2% of those reported no reading for their future career. 46.3% answered 'no time to read books related to my future career.' 25.8% selected 'no books worth reading related to my future career.' 22.5% said 'no curiosity about my future career.' Considering that those who did not read any materials related to a future career reached 65.2% and a number of students had low fundamental vocational competence, this paper suggested the implementation of a systematic educational program for standardizing and strengthening fundamental vocational competence and enhancing understanding of future careers.

This study aimed to introduce a case study of a basic engineering design course using the ENACT model for fostering social responsibility of engineers, and to investigate the educational effects of the course. Since the ENACT model was designed to encourage STEM college students to pursue responsible problem solving based on their understanding of socioscientific issues, we assumed that it would be beneficial for engineering students to foster their social responsibility as well as their understanding of science/engineering-related issues. A total of 49 engineering students who enrolled in the course participated in the study. Data included students' course artifacts, reflection papers, and responses to survey questionnaires. Results indicated that the students became more aware of nature of science and technology after the program, and began to solve the problems while considering the views of multiple stakeholders. They highly valued the experience of communicating with others as engaging in the civic activities. They also expressed high satisfaction and feeling of achievement on the course learning. We expect the ENACT model to be an effective teaching guideline that fosters the social responsibility of engineering students and furthermore, engineering ethics.

In this study, we have look through the national progress of computer science education in South Korea and analyzed the main subjects and contents of each period. We suggests the ways to evolve the current computer science education in terms of class hours for computer science education, hierarchical instructions, and the limitation of current national curriculum. In South Korea, it has been leaded the computer science education in the world since the it was promoted in earnest since 1995. Based on the recently revised national curriculum, South Korean government are taking efforts to nurture a leader through computer science education in terms of the students' future skills. However, it should be promoted to strengthen the ability of not only problem-solving ability through programming education, but also balanced computing and digital literacy through enhancing the ICT skills. In order to improve the curriculum of computer science education in elementary school of South Korea, a sufficient class hours of computer science education should be secured first.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to develop a cognitive behavioral therapy program for ego-integrity of depressed elderly women living alone, and to verify its effectiveness. Method: The subjects of this study were composed of elderly women(age 65 and older) living alone who had basic literacy skills, 24 or higher in mental state examination(MMSE-K), and 6 or higher in elderly depression(GDS). 29 women were randomly assigned into an experimental group(cognitive behavioral therapy), a comparison group(reminiscence therapy) and a control group. The experimental group and the comparison group retrospectively participated in a 90-minute therapy session twice a week for a total of 12 weeks. The effectiveness of the program was assessed through a pretest, posttest, and 2-month follow-up test. The data collected were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 statistical program. Results: The main findings of this study are as follows. First, at posttest ego-integrity and self-esteem marked higher scores in both of the experimental group and the comparison group than in the control group, but the experimental group marked comparatively higher scores than the comparison group. For dysfunctional attitude, only the experimental group showed lower scores compared to the comparison group and the control group. Second, at posttest depression marked lower scores in the experimental group compared to the comparison group and the control group. Third, at posttest problem-solving and support-seeking coping strategies marked higher scores in the experimental group compared to the comparison group and the control group. Fourth, the significant improvements remained at 2-month follow-up test. Conclusions: Cognitive behavioral therapy resulted in improvements of the ego-integrity and related symptoms of depressed elderly women living alone at posttest and 2-month follow-up test respectively.
This study aims to introduce the ENACT model, which is a systematic teaching-learning model for cultivating social responsibility of science and engineering college students, and to discuss its educational implications. For the development of the ENACT model, we conducted extensive literature reviews on RRI, STEM education, and science and technology studies (STS). In addition, we examined exemplary overseas education programs emphasizing social responsibility of scientists/engineers and citizens. The ENACT model consists of five steps; 1) Engage in SSIs, 2) Navigate SSIs, 3) Anticipate consequences, 4) Conduct scientific and engineering practice, and 5) Take action. This model links Socioscientific Issues (SSI) education with engineering education, dividing the major elements of social responsibility education for scientists and engineers into the dimensions of epistemology and praxis, and reflected them in the model. This effort enables science and engineering college students to pursue more responsible and sustainable development by carrying out the responsible problem-solving process based on an understanding of the nature of science and technology. We plan to implement ENACT model based programs for science and engineering college students and to examine the effects.

This study aims to develop a core competency model for adult college students. For this purpose, the core competencies of adult college students were derived by analyzing domestic and foreign literature studies. And the Delphi survey was conducted for the validity of core competencies. The SPSS 18.0 program was used for analysis. As results of the analysis, there are 11 core competencies of adult college students derived: communication, problem-solving and meta, interpersonal, personal management and development, digital information literacy, major knowledge, citizenship, convergence, character, professional job, and global. The core competency model of adult college students was developed by assigning numbers from 01 to 11 based on the results of the Delphi survey. Core competencies of adult college students were organically linked, so the cultivation of one core competency affects other core competencies.
Purpose: This study is descriptive survey research on the analysis of nurses' perception of the 4th industrial revolution and the importance and performance of future core nursing competencies in a tertiary hospital located in Seoul. Methods: Data were collected from 149 nurses with more than a year of work experience and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Importance Performance Analysis(IPA) with the IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The nurses' perception of the 4th industrial revolution was 3.23±0.71 out of 5 points. The importance of future core nursing competencies was 4.31±0.48, and the performance of it was 3.47±0.54. The analysis results of IPA showed that A (area of continuous maintenance) included critical thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, communication, quality improvement and safety, professionalism, self-regulation and self-management, and personal literacy. The specific competencies were not included in B (area of priority improvement). Creativity, informatics, healthcare policy, leadership, research ability, and continuing education were included in C (area of progressive improvement). Knowledge and patient-centered care, ability to manage resources as well as professional, legal, and ethical responsibility were included in D (area of overinvestment). Conclusion: The nurses seemed not to be fully prepared for the 4th industrial revolution. However, they were well aware of the importance of the future core nursing competencies. Therefore, if nurses increase the performance of core competencies in order of priority according to the IPA results, they will be able to independently lead the changing nursing field.
This study took existing invention intellectual property related textbooks being utilized in secondary vocational education, analyzed the formation status of 'key learning elements' reflection ratio and drew optimum key learning elements formation ratio by invention intellectual property education content required in secondary vocational education in the future. For this, the study task was set up as 'what kind and how much of invention intellectual property key learning elements are in the invention intellectual property textbook education content now and what is the desirable ratio of each key learning elements in the future'. To resolve this task, 3 specialists analyzed the invention intellectual property education content reflection status and optimum reflection ratio by invention intellectual property education content required in the future is suggested by Delphi survey. The results of this study are as following. First, the result of analysis on invention intellectual property key learning elements included in the invention patent recognition books being utilized in secondary vocational education was that the books included all key learning elements; however, some textbooks have the trend of concentrating in D area (problem-solving activities). The knowledge-information-processing competency is the most essential competency in a knowledge-information-based society and is the most fundamental competency in the new problem-solving ability. Data-driven science inquiry, which emphasizes how to find and solve problems using vast amounts of data and information, is a way to cultivate the problem-solving ability in a knowledge-information-based society. Therefore, this study aims to develop a teaching-learning model and strategy for data-driven science inquiry and to verify the validity of the model in terms of knowledge information processing competency. This study is developmental research. Based on literature, the initial model and strategy were developed, and the final model and teaching strategy were completed by securing external validity through on-site application and internal validity through expert advice. The development principle of the inquiry model is the literature study on science inquiry, data science, and a statistical problem-solving model based on resource-based learning theory, which is known to be effective for the knowledge-information-processing competency and critical thinking. This model is titled "Exploratory Scientific Data Analysis" The model consisted of selecting tools, collecting and analyzing data, finding problems and exploring problems. The teaching strategy is composed of seven principles necessary for each stage of the model, and is divided into instructional strategies and guidelines for environment composition. The development of the ESDA inquiry model and teaching strategy is not easy to generalize to the whole school level because the sample was not large, and research was qualitative. While this study has a limitation that a quantitative study over large number of students could not be carried out, it has significance that practical model and strategy was developed by approaching the knowledge-information-processing competency with respect of science inquiry.
