W-ZrC and W-HfC composite powders were fabricated by the Plasma Alloying & Spheroidization (PAS) method and the powders were sprayed into hybrid coating layers by using Low Vacuum Plasma Spray (LVPS) process, respectively. Microstructure, mechanical properties, and ablation characteristics of the fabricated coating layers were investigated. The LVPS process led to successful production of W-Carbide hybrid coatings, approximately 400 ${\mu}M$ or above in thickness. As the substrate preheating temperature increased from $870^{\circ}C$ to $917^{\circ}C$, the hardness of the W-ZrC coating layer increased due to decreased porosity. Vickers hardness showed higher value (about 108.4 HV) in W-ZrC hybrid coating material compared to that of W-HfC while adhesive strength was found to be similar in both coating layers. The plasma torch test revealed good ablation resistance of the W-Carbide hybrid coating layers. The relatively high performance W-ZrC coating layer at the elevated temperature is thought to be attributed to both the strengthening effect of ZrC particle remained in the layer and the formation of ZrO2 phase with high temperature stability.

The effects of heat treatments and alloying elements on the microstructure and mechanical charaterisitics of specially austempered ADIs containing alloying elements such as Cu, Mo and Ni were investigated. To compare with the effect of conventional and normal(CN) austempering treatment, two kinds of special austempering treatments which are those with pre-quenching and pre-heating were conducted. The hardness and uniaxial fatigue tests were carried out to evaluate the mechanical charateristics. The hardness of ADI treated by CN heat cycles was higher than those of other ADIs. Cu added ADI (Cu-ADI) tempered at 400 after austenitizing exhibited the highest fatigue life cycles. While austempering after prequenching makes the austenite with high carbon stable, which resulted in transformation to highly strengthened bainites from the carbon enriched austenite phases during tempering. The high carbon enriched banites is considered to improve the fatigue strength.
This study executed evaluation of drying characteristics based on the polymer injection rate (8%, 10% and 12%) and the drying method[NIF(near-infrared ray). According to this study analyzed VS, VS/TS, and calorific value compared with 'the auxiliary fuel standard of the thermoelectric power plant and the combined heat & power plant'. The results are as follows. In the case of NIR, the VS was slightly changed at the early stage of the material preheating period and the constant drying rate period with low moisture evaporation. But VS reduction was shown higher as moisture was dried. In the case of non-digested sludge with high VS content, the VS reduction rate by drying was shown lower than that of digested sludge. As the flocculant injection rate increased, the VS loss due th drying was found to be small. Also, the higher the flocculant injection rate was the longer the drying time. Especially, in the case of the NIR drying equipment, as the moisture content of sewage sludge decreased(moisture content 20~40%), the loss of net VS also showed a tendency to increase sharply. It is shown that the high calorific value according to the drying time of the non-digested sludge was changed from 590 kcaℓ/kg to 3,005 kcaℓ/kg and from 539 kcaℓ/kg to 2,796 kcaℓ/kg.
This study was conducted to know the storage stability of Yackwa, a traditional Korean fried cookie, prepared by two different cooking methods; deep fat frying at 160$^{\circ}C$ for 8 min (DFF), and preheating Yackwa dough and then deep fat frying at 180$^{\circ}C$ for 2 min (MW/DFF). Soybean oil (SBO), hydrogenated soybean oil (HSBO) or hydrogenated palm oil (HPO) were used for frying Yackwa. Compared to Yackwa prepared by DFF, all MW/DFF Yackwa samples had low fat content and high moisture content. MW/DFF saved frying time 6 min compared with DFF. Non-hydrogenated soybean oil for frying fats was replaced with hydrogenated types of soybean oil and palm oil to improve the storage stability of Yackwa. To investigate the oxidation stability of Yackwa during the accelerated storage for 15 days at 60$^{\circ}C$, acid value, anisidine value, peroxide value and oxidation value of Yackwas were measured. Acid values of Yackwa made by MW/DFF were higher than those made by DFF through the whole storage periods, regardless of frying fats. Peroxide and anisidine values of Yackwa coated with syrup were much lower than those without syrup. MW/DFF cooking method, using hydrogenated soybean oil or hydrogenated palm oil for frying, showed lowering effects on peroxide value as well as anisidine value, resulting in improved oxidation stability of Yackwa during the storage. In sensory evaluation, the acceptability of MW/DFF Yackwa was higher than those of the commerical products. Yackwa prepared by MW/DFF cooking method using hydrogenated palm oil, showed the highest acceptability in color, taste and texture among the samples.

The main purpose of this study was to examine the influence of treatment amounts of Slurry Composting and Biofiltration liquid fertilizer (SCBLF) on biomass growth of Yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) and to compare bioethanol production from the harvested wood. Relative growth rate, biomass production and leaf characteristics were significantly enhanced by SCBLF treatment and medium treatment plot showed highest value. Nitrogen compounds and water content in SCBLF affected to increase chlorophyll contents which led improving biomass production (64.67%) and glucose contents (6.07%) than control. Organosolv and dilute acid pretreatments were preliminarily carried for bioethanol production, and the pretreatment processes were conducted at all the same solid to liquid ratio (1 : 10), reaction temperature ($150^{\circ}C$), preheating time (40 min) and residence time (10 min). The water insoluble solid recovery of Organosolv pretreatment with 1% sulfuric acid as a catalyst was the lowest and that of medium treatment plot was 44.81%. Exchangeable cations in SCBLF might be affected to increase pretreatment effect. The simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process was followed to determine the ethanol production of the pretreated biomass. The highest ethanol production yield based on initial weight was obtained from high treatment plotby Organosolv pretreatment with 1% sulfuric acid (16.11%). But regarding biomass production, medium treatment plot produced most, and bioethanol production was increased by 72.93% than control.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism and effect of moxibustion objectively and to be used as the quantitative data for developing the new thermal stimulating treatment by observing the combustion time and temperature of commercial moxaes. Methods : We have selected two types(large-size moxa A(LMA), large-size moxa B (LMB)) among large moxaes used widely in the clinic. We examined combustion times, temperatures in each period during a combustion of moxa. Results : 1. The combustion time in the preheating period was about 30sec in both moxaes on the non-contact heated surface. 2. The combustion time in the heating period was about 345sec in LMA and about 1391 sec in LMB, about 4 times longer in LMB on the non-contact surface. 3. The maximum temperature in the heating period was $44.5^{\circ}C$ in LMA and $45.4^{\circ}C$ in LMB respectively, higher by $0.9^{\circ}C$ in LMB. The average temperature in the heating period was $35.5{\sim}37.6^{\circ}C$ in LMA and $36.0{\sim}39.8^{\circ}C$ in LMB, a little higher in LMB. 4. The combustion time in the retaining period in LMA was 45.4sec and 13% of that in the heating period, and in LMB 594.7sec and 43% of that in the heating period on the non-contact surface. 5. On the point(PH) measured maximum temperature, the average temperature during the retaining period was $44.0^{\circ}C$, $42.9^{\circ}C$ respectively and the temperature at an end of the retaining period was $43.0^{\circ}C$, $40.2^{\circ}C$ respectively. 6. The time at a beginning of the cooling period was about 418 sec from ignition in LMA and 2021sec in LMB, and the temperature at that time was $36.9{\sim}39.1^{\circ}C$ on the non-contact surface. Conclusion : It was thought that not only the figure of moxicombustion device, but also the form and size of moxa had influence on the combustion characteristics deciding the performance of stimulus seriously.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of pre-heating on some physical properties of composite resin. Eighty extracted, noncarious human molars were used in the present study. Four different temperatures of composite resin were used: $4^{\circ}C$, $17^{\circ}C$, $48^{\circ}C$, and $56^{\circ}C$. The $4^{\circ}C$ and $17^{\circ}C$ values represented the refrigerator storage temperature and room temperature respectively. For $48^{\circ}C$ and $56^{\circ}C$, composite resin was heated to the temperatures. As physical properties of composite resin, shear bond strength, microhardness, and degree of conversion were measured. The data for each group were subjected to one-way ANOVAs followed by the Tukey's HSD test at 95% confidence level. Both in enamel and dentin, among composite resin of $4^{\circ}C$, $17^{\circ}C$$;48^{\circ}C$, and $56^{\circ}C$, the pre-heated composite resin up to $56^{\circ}C$ revealed the highest shear bond strength, and pre-heated composite resin to the higher temperature revealed higher shear bond strength. Microhardness value was also higher with composite resin of higher temperature. Degree of conversion was also higher with composite resin of the higher temperature. In this study, it seems that pre-heating composite resin up to the higher temperature may show higher shear bond strength, higher microhardness value, and higher degree of conversion. Therefore, when using composite resin in the clinic, preheating the composite resin could be recommended to have enhanced physical properties of it.
Lethal effect on Chinese radish Kimchi was investigated by using a pilot scale Kimchi pasteurizer. A simulation model was presented so as to predict the change in viable cell concentration of the Kimchi during pasteurization. D values of microorganisms in the Kimchi were found to be 2.21, 1.62, 0.73, 0.39 and 0.21min at 60, 64, 70, 75 and $80^{\circ}C$, correspondingly, and thereby z value was $19^{\circ}C$. One cycle time required was 0.99min at flow rate of 4 l/min. The ratio of lethality in preheating section to total lethality was 0.3 and the ratio of lethality in holding, precooling and cooling sections to total lethality was 0.7. The experimental data were in good agreement with the values simulated by two model equations to which linear and exponential temperature profiles were applied at $65^{\circ}C\;and\;70^{\circ}C$ in holding section.
For producing single cell protein from the agricultural waste, heat treatment and antibiotics on the growth of Cellulomonas sp. KL-6, isolated in rotting leaf and the adjacent soil mixture, were examined. The organism was able to grow until 5 min. at $65^{\circ}C$, 1 min. at $75^{\circ}C$ and 1/4 min. at $85^{\circ}C$ in gradually rising temperatures. It can be Seen that preheating the suspension at $48^{\circ}C$ results in a marked decrease in heat resistance. On heating at temperature of $55^{\circ}C$ for 30 min., strain KL-6 was more resisted in the 0.1 M phosphate buffer when such substrates as casamino acid (1%), yeast extract (1%) or xylose (5%) were added to it whereas this organism was appeared weaker resistances in 0.1 M phosphate buffer when cysteine (0.03 M), sodium citrate (1%) or casein (1%) were in fused into it. Test strain was susceptible to penicillin-G $(1.563\;{\mu}g/ml)$ and ampicillin $(3.125\;{\mu}g/ml)$, but the organism was resisted to kanamycin $(>200\;{\mu}g/ml)$. The treatment of strain KL-6 with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) resulted in the elimination of R-plasmid from the host strain and the elimination rate with SDS $(10{\sim}30\;{\mu}g/ml)$ was about $9.2{\sim}31.2%$, respectively.
Tetramethyl orthosilicate (TMOS) was obtained by the direct synthesis of methanol with metallic silicon including copper compound as a catalyst and zinc compound as a promoter. The effects of the preheating temperature and the preparation method of the contact mass on TMOS synthesis were investigated. The composition effects of the contact mass which was composed of metallic silicon with copper catalyst and various metallic halide promoters including Zn, Sn or Cd compound were studied also. The best performance on TMOS synthesis was observed on a mixed bed reactor containing metallic silicon preheated with CuCl as a catalyst and $ZnCl_2$ as a promoter. When Cu/Si = 7 wt %, Zn/Cu = 7 wt % was mixed in a slurry phase and activated into contact mass at $380^{\circ}C$, the average selectivity was 87.2% in the silicon consumption of 69.2% at $220^{\circ}C$.
