Nanostructured Cu-$Al_2O_3$ composite powders were synthesized by thermochemical process. The synthesis procedures are 1) preparation of precursor powder by spray drying of solution made from water-soluble copper and aluminum nitrates, 2) air heat treatments to evaporate volatile components in the precursor powder and synthesis of nano-structured CuO + $Al_2O_3$, and 3) CuO reduction by hydrogen into pure Cu. The suggested procedures stimulated the formation of the gamma-$Al_2O_3$, and different alumina formation behaviors appeared with various heat treating temperatures. The mean particle size of the final Cu/$Al_2O_3$ composite powders produced was 20 nm, and the electrical conductivity and hardness in the hot-extruded bulk were competitive with Cu/$Al_2O_3$ composite by the conventional internal oxidation process.
The Indium Tin Oxide(ITO) nano powders were prepared by spray drying and heat treatment process. The liquid solution dissolved Indium and Tin salts was first spray dried to prepare chemically homogeneous recursor powders at the optimum spray drying conditions. Subsequently, the precursor powders were subjected to eat treatment process. The nano size ITO powders was synthesized from the previous precursor powders and the npuities also were decreased with increasing heat treatment temperature. Furthermore, the lattice parameter of TO nano powders was increased by doping Tin into Indium with increasing heat treatment temperature. The par icle size of the resultant ITO powders was about 20∼50nm and chemical composition was composed of In:Sn =86:10 wt.% at 80$0^{\circ}C$.

A modification of the sol-gel method to obtain phase pure superconducting oxides is described. The method starts from organic salts of yttrium, barium and copper, such as acetates, and avoids the sudden and uncontrollable decomposition of the organic fraction which occurs if nitrates are used as starting materials. The aqueous solution obtained with citric acid in an alkaline medium is concentrated under vacuum. The solid so prepared is decomposed at about $300^{\circ}C$ thus giving an oxide precursor containing well dispersed yttrium, barium and copper. Pyrolysis at 850 - $920^{\circ}C$ followed by oxygen annealing gives the superconducting orthorhombic 123 phase. The results of TGA/DTA of the precursor, as well as XRD, electrical and magnetic property measurements on the pyrolysis products are presented and discussed.
The In2S3 thin films of tetragonal structure and In2O3 films of cubic structure were synthesized by a spin coating method from the organometallic compound precursor triethylammonium indium thioacetate ($[(Et)_3NH]^+[In(SCOCH_3)_4]^-$; TEA-InTAA). In order to determine the electron mobility of the spin-coated TEA-InTAA films, thin film transistors (TFTs) with an inverted structure using a gate dielectric of thermal oxide ($SiO_2$) was fabricated. These devices exhibited n-channel TFT characteristics with a field-effect electron mobility of $10.1cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$ at a curing temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, indicating that the semiconducting thin film material is applicable for use in low-cost, solution-processed printable electronics.
A radically new approach to the in situ synthesis of the consituent phases of a composite structure has enabled the production of a new WC/Co materials with an ultrafine microstructure. The process for synthesizing nanophase WC/Co powders consists of spray drying from solution to form a homogeneous precursor powder, and thermochemical conversion of the precursor powder to the nanophase WC/Co powder. Near theoretical density of pure nanophase WC-10 wt%Co has been obtained in only 30 sec at 140$0^{\circ}C$. But WC particles were grown up very rapidly with longer sintering time to get full density. To overcome coarsening of WC particle during sintering, VC, TaC and VC/TaC were used as the grain growth inhibitor with different amount respectively. VC/TaC doped WC-10 wt%Co was shown superior hardness and TRS and microstructure was maintained ultrafine scale (average WC size is less than 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$).
The effect of reaction parameters in the characteristic of $Pb(Zr_{0.52} Ti_{0.48})O_3$ powders by hydrothermal process was investigated in this study. In the preparation of PZT, the types of starting material and concentration of mineralizer on phase fraction and morphology was investigated respectively. Regardless the types of Pb precursor, PZT was able to synthesize ranging from 7 to 20 on KOH concentration and from 13.01 to 13.55 on pH of solution. The particle size of the PZT powders can be controlled by the mineralizer concentration and various types of precursor.

CdTe quantum dots(QDs) were synthesized in aqueous solution by colloidal method. The synthesized CdTe QDs were identified to be cubic-structured ones by x-ray diffraction(XRD). The photoluminescence(PL) was performed for CdTe QDs prepared as a function of Te precursor concentration, condensation time and aging time. The PL intensity is strongly dependent on Te precursor concentration, indicating that the ratio of Te to Cd ions affects the particle size and size distribution of the CdTe QDs. Our PL study reveals that the intensity of PL peaks strengthens as the condensation time elongates, implying that annealing by thermal energy transferred during condensation would eliminate defects which act as killing centers in CdTe particles. Our photocurrent study suggests that the CdTe QDs materials are one of the prospective materials for optoelectronics including photodetectors.

Herein, resin-formed polysilsesquioxanes (PSSQs) were synthesized using monomolecular fluoro silane as a precursor. The synthesized PSSQs exhibited anti-smudge performance and were used as coating liquid. Two structures were acquired by controlling the amount of the silane precursor and the K2CO3 catalyst; these materials were used to prepare the anti-smudge coating liquid solution. The synthesized product was analyzed by various methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, gel permeation chromatography, and water contact angle measurement. The results confirmed that the as-synthesized PSSQs exhibited the ladder structure and had a molecular weight of 5,117 g/mol and water contact angle of 102.31°.
Pure and nano-sized $TiO_2$ and $CaTiO_3$ powders were fabricated by a polymeric steric entrapment route and planetary milling process. An ethylene glycol was used as a polymeric carrier for the preparation of organic-inorganic precursors. Titanium isopropoxide and calcium nitrate were dissolved in liquid-type ethylene glycol without any precipitation. At the optimum amount of the polymer, the metal cations were dispersed in solution and a homogeneous polymeric network was formed. The dried precursor ceramic gels were turned to porous powders through calcination process. The porous powders were crystallized at low temperatures and the crystalline powders were planetary milled to nano size.

Transparent conducting tin (IV) oxide thin films have been studies and developed for the electrode materials of solar cell substrate. Fabrication of tin oxide thin films by sol-gel method is process development of lower cost photovoltaic solar cell system. The research is focused on the establishment of process condition and development of precursor. The precursor solution was made of tin isopropoxide dissolved in isopropyl alcohol. The hydrolysis rate was controlled by addition of triethanolamine. Dip and spin coating technique were applied to coat tin oxide on borosilicate glass. The resistivity of the thin film was lower than 0.1Ω-cm and the transmittance is higher than 90% in a visible range.
