  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the propriety of various aspects of the 7th home economics science curriculum in high school. In this study, home economics education experts participated in a three-round Delphi survey. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the experts evaluated that the subject arrangement and title 'home economics science' were inadequate. Second, the experts evaluated that the characteristics of home economics science were similar to those in prior home economics curricula, and that the characteristics of the subject were also ambiguous. Third, the experts evaluated that the objectives of home economics science were too technically presented, and pointed out that the objectives are not distinct from those of prior home economics courses as they are too general and abstract. Fourth, the experts evaluated that the content of home economics science was deficient in its hierarchy and integration. Moreover, the contents do not sufficiently reflect the characters of the learners or their social demands. Fifth, the experts evaluated that the teaching/learning methods of home economics science were stated for the sake of formality only. Even though it provides many methods, it is not practical in the current educational situation. Sixth, the experts evaluated that although home economics science provides various methods of assessment, it has practical difficulties under current educational circumstances. Besides, the assessment methods failed to give concrete and objective standards.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop practical problem focused teaching learning process plan for housing for the later life in order to apply it to the older stage of family planning section of Technology Home Economics in a highschool. Practical problem focused method was used for the teaching learning process plans of 3-session lessons according to the ADDIE model. The global practical problem was "What should I do to plan a safe and comfortable housing for the later life?" In the development stage, 53 teaching learning materials (44 students activity materials, 2 students' and 5 teacher' reading texts, and 2 moving pictures) were developed for 3-session lessons. The planes applied to the 5 classes, 150 students, in the freshmen of B highschool during April 20th-24th, 2009. The 5 point likert questionnaire were used to evaluate the 3-session lessons about 4 contents related aspects as well as the methods and effects of the lessons besides 2 open ended questions. The overall evaluation was very positive in all 6 aspects of the lessons. Some students wanted to learn more about universal design and aging related jobs. Those results showed that the practical problem focused teaching learning process plan for housing for the later life which this study developed would be appropriate to teach the older stage of family planning section related to housing and could be adjusted to the condition of each school and regions.

  • In this study, the goal is to spread profound knowledge and theory through providing with accumulated methods in mathematics education to the students who are relatively neglected in educational benefits. The process is divided into 3 categories: mathematics for obtaining common sense and intelligence, practical math for application, and math as a liberal art to elevate their characters. Furthermore, it includes the reasons for studying math, improving problem-solving skills, machinery application learning, introduction to code(cipher) theory and game theory, utilizing GSP to geometry learning, and mathematical relations to sports and art. Based on these materials, the next step(goal) is to train graduate students to conduct researches in teaching according to the teaching plan, as well as developing interesting and effective teaching plan for the remote high school learners.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of mentoring experience in STEAM classes on pre-service mathematics teachers' teaching competency for STEAM education. The study was conducted with 23 pre-service mathematics teachers who participated in the mentoring program affiliated with free learning semester system during one semester. To investigate the changes of pre-service mathematics teachers' teaching competencies for STEAM education and the effects of the mentoring program, pre, post questionnaires, lesson journals, and whole group discussion data were collected. According to the results, pre-service mathematics teachers' competencies for 'knowledge of STEAM education', 'subject matter knowledge', 'teaching and learning methods', and 'learning environments and circumstances' categories were improved significantly after the mentoring program. Especially, some results indicated that pre-service mathematics teachers' teaching experiences in real STEAM classrooms were very helpful for the development of understandings of STEAM education and construction of practical knowledge.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a simulation module for teaching home health care and evaluate the applicability of the program to nursing students' practical training. Methods: The simulation module was developed based on the National League for Nursing Jeffries Simulation Theory. The theme of the developed scenario was teaching nasogastric tube feeding to the caregiver of patient with Parkinson disease. Participants were 61 nursing students who had learned tube feeding, and participated in the questionnaire survey after the simulation training. Results: The evaluation of simulation design showed the highest score on feedback/guided reflection, and was highly evaluated in the order of objectives/information, problem solving and fidelity. The educational practice of the simulation was highly evaluated in the order of active learning, high expectation and diversity of learning. The nursing students showed high satisfaction and self-confidence after the simulation education. Conclusion: We suggest that the developed simulation module can be applied to practical training for home health care. In the future, the change of self-efficacy, clinical judgment and performance ability of the students after the simulation education should be identified. Also, various simulation modules related to the community health nursing competencies should be continuously developed and verified.

  • The 7th curriculum sets a basic direction based on learner centered teaching, with the aim of allowing students to develop their mathematical ability. Teachers' manuals are provided to help teachers fallow the basic direction and achieve the curriculum aims, but in practice they are not always helpful. Therefore, we reconstructed parts of a teachers' manual. This involved analyzing the contents of units 6, 7 and 8 of the elementary mathematics textbook 4 na to identify and outline the problems; introducing more detailed teaching methods and activities; and developing teaching learning materials. We tested the new version in several real classes and analysed the responses 6f teachers and students to examine the possibility of its practical use. The results suggest that the reconstructed version of the teachers' manual for units 6, 7 and 8 of textbook 4 na is of greater practical utility.

  • This paper starts with the recognition of the problem of the need for a link between text-centered acting and body-centered acting. This study is focused on Brecht's theory of acting to overcome loss of presence by repetition which have been discussed many times by not only actors, but also acting educators. Brecht's acting theory has already been mentioned by many researchers as an alternative to conventional actor training. However, not many studies have been conducted on practical applicable methods. The purpose of this study is to provide the basis for the actual practice of Brecht acting and possibility that his acting theory can serve as a link between text and body-centered acting theory. As a research method, we first conduct theoretical considerations on the concepts and limitations of text-centered representational acting and body-centered post-drama acting. Then distinguish between text and body-centered acting tools among Brecht's epic theatre, to summarize the terms and concepts he uses and to identify the existing effects he reaches while acting. Finally, this paper proposes an teaching model that transforms and develops Brecht's acting theory through the writer's teaching experience. However, there are limitations in generalizing its effectiveness because this study is based on the writer's experience. We hope that further research will help the diversity of acting education by developing in-depth insights on Brecht acting theory and various models of acting teaching methods.

  • Education and training is an important means of promoting safety culture and enhancing the level of competence of radiation worker in radiation protection. The existing international nuclear education and training of short duration has been carried out on the high-level officials and focussed on the classroom based training. The developing countries has been asking for support to cultivate their own technical experts to Korea which is a donor country exporting nuclear power plants. This paper summarizes the results of developing and operating the international education and training course to froster technical experts in radiation protection that emphasized practical training sessions and technical visits using the excellent domestic radiation facilities and infrastructure of education and training. It mentions the procedures of assessment and feedback as well. In an effort to maximize teaching-learning effects and to maintain consistency of the learning objectives, methods and assessment, SAT methodology has been applied on the processes of developing and operating the course. In the comparative and final assessment which were conducted at the beginning or at the end of training course, participants' average score increased around 2 points. The questionnaire of participants showed a high level of satisfaction of 4.0 points or above for the most of the questions. These imply teaching-learning methods applied to it might be effective. The teaching-learning methodologies may provide the opportunity to develop the customized training course for bringing up international technical experts and to shift educational paradigm from theory-oriented to on-site practice-based education.
