  • The present study provides a deeper understanding of the flow fields of a full-scale railway wind barriers by means of a wind tunnel test. First, the drag forces of the three wind barriers were measured using a force sensor, and the drag force coefficients were compared with a similar scale model. On this basis, the mean wind velocity and turbulence upwind and downwind of the wind barriers were measured. The effects of pore size and opening forms of the wind barrier were discussed. The results show that the test of the scaled wind barrier model may be unsafe, and it is suitable to adopt the full-scale wind barrier model. The pore size and the opening forms of wind barriers have a slight influence on the flow fields upwind of the wind barrier but have some influences on the flow fields and power spectra downwind of the wind barrier. The smaller pore size generates a lower turbulence density and value of the power spectrum near the wind barrier, and the porous wind barriers clearly provide better shelter than the bar-type wind barriers.

  • In this paper the analytical method, namely advanced minimum coupling loss(A-MCL), was proposed in order to analyze the coexistence of OFDM-based systems beyond 3G(B3G) with point-to point(PP) fixed service(FS) microwave systems. Our proposed method is based on a power spectral density(PSD) analysis. So it can be easily applicable to analyze the coexistence of OFDM-based systems B3G using flexible spectrum usage(FSU) with other systems, where the conventional MCL method cannot allocate transmit power partially to some subcarriers which overlap the band of a victim system. By applying the conventional MCL method and the A-MCL method, interfering power levels at the receiver of a interfered system are respectively calculated. A-MCL can calculate interference power more accurately than MCL by the maximum value of 4.5 dB. Therefore it can be concluded that our prosed method, namely A-MCL, is applicable to a sharing analysis of OFDM-based systems B3G.

  • The dynamic behavior of Al-Mg alloys plasma was very unstable and this instability was closely related to the unstable motion of keyhole during laser irradiation. The keyhole fluctuated both in size and shape and its fluctuation period was about 440 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. This instability has been estimated to be caused by the evaporation phenomena of metals with different boiling point and latent heats of vaporization. Therefore, the authors have conducted the spectroscopic diagnostics of plasma induced in the pulsed YAG laser welding of Al-Mg alloys in air and argon atmospheres. In the air environment, the identified spectra were atomic lines of Al, Mg, Cr, Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn, and singly ionized Mg line, as well as strong molecular spectrum of AlO, MgO and AIH. It was confirmed that the resonant lines of Al and Mg were strongly self-absorbed, in particular in the vicinity of pool surface. The self-absorption of atomic Mg line was more eminent in alloys containing higher Mg. These facts showed that the laser-induced plasma was relatively a low temperature and high density metallic vapor. The intensities of molecular spectra of AlO and MgO were different each other depending on the power density of laser beam. Under the low power density irradiation condition, the MgO band spectra were predominant in intensity, while the AlO spectra became much stronger in higher power density. In argon atmosphere the band spectra of MgO and AlO completely vanished, but AlH molecular spectra was detected clearly. The hydrogen source was presumably the hydrogen solved in the base Metal, absorbed water on the surface oxide layer or H$_2$ and $H_2O$ in the shielding gas. The temporal change in spectral line intensities was quite similar to the fluctuation of keyhole. The time average plasma temperature at 1 mm high above the surface of A5083 alloy was determined by the Boltzmann plot method of atomic Cr lines of different excitation energy. The obtained electron temperature was 3, 280$\pm$150 K which was about 500 K higher than the boiling point of pure aluminum. The electron number density was determined by measuring the relative intensities of the spectra1lines of atomic and singly ionized Magnesium, and the obtained value was 1.85 x 1019 1/㎥.

  • We have developed a facile method to position different dyes (N719 and N749) sequentially in a mesoporous TiO2 layer through selective desorption and adsorption processes. Only upper part of the first adsorbed N719 dye was selectively removed by the desorption solution formulated with polypropylene glycol and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide without any damages of the dye. The desorption depth was controlled by the number of desorption process. Multi-dyed dye-sensitized solar cells (MDSSC) were fabricated by utilizing the method and their photovoltaic properties were investigated. From the incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) measurement, it was found that the MDSSC exhibited the extended spectral response for the solar spectrum while without decrease of maximum IPCE value compare to the DSSCs using one kind of dye (N719 or N749). The highest photocurrent density of 19.3 mA/cm2 was obtained from the MDSSC utilizing $15\;{\mu}m$ N719 / $14\;{\mu}m$ N749 bi-layered mesoporous TiO2 film. The photocurrent density was 25% and 8% higher than that of the DSSC using only N719 and N749 dye as a sensitizer, respectively. The power conversion efficiency of 9.8% was achieved from the MDSSC under the AM 1.5G one sun illumination.

  • As a part of the study to know the deep geological structure of the Ogcheon Zone. gravity survey is performed along the survey line of which direction is roughly perpendicular to major faults of the Zone. Recent studies for petrology. geochemistry. and structural geology in south-western Ogcheon Zone are outlined. Raw gravity data are corrected to obtain Bouguer anomalies and the anomalies are interpreted to obtain subsurface structures along the survey line. The subterranean density discontinuities determined from the power spectrum method are appeared at depths of 15.4 km and 2.8 km. It is considered that the depth of 15.4 km indicates the boundary between upper and lower crust. Probably the depth of 2.8 km represents the boundary between upper volcanic formations and granites. Alternatively. the observed Bouguer anomalies are interpreted in terms of lateral density variation model. Finally. the subterranean geological structure to satisfy the Bouguer anomalies is presented through the iterative forward method in which results obtained from surface geological informations and from the inverse method are adopted as an initial model.

  • In this paper, resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS) was used to determine the natural frequency of a ceramic ferrule and a ball lens. The ceramic ferrules are cylinderical shape with $\phi$ 2.56mm diameter and l0mm in length. Crack lengths of these ferrules are 10.40$\mu$m, 21.18$\mu$m and 32.35$\mu$m. The spherical ball lens was made of BK-7 glass, one's diameter in 2mm and 5mm. RUS system is consisted of spectrum analyzer, power amplifier, PZT sensor and support frame. The principle of RUS is that the mechanical resonant frequency of the materials depends on density and the coefficient of elasticity. Rus system is based on that given resonant frequency of the materials can be represented by the function of density and the coefficient of elasticity, and it is applied to excite specimen and to inspect the difference of natural frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and defective ones. Defect evaluation by RUS are performed to investigate the natural frequency measure of ferrule and ball lens.

  • $B_2Mg_{2/3}/Nb_{4/3}O_7\;(B_2MN)$ thin films and $Bi_{3/2}MgNb_{3/2}O_7\;(B_{1.5}MN)$ thin films were deposited as a function of various deposition temperatures on Pt/$TiO_2/SiO_2$/Si substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering system. Both of their thin films are shown to crystalline phase at $500^{\circ}C$, deposition temperature, using 100W RF power. The composition of them and structural micro properties are investigated by RBS spectrum and SEM, AFM. 200 nm-thick $B_2MN$ thin films were deposited at room temperature had capacitance density of $151nF/cm^2$ at 100kHz, dissipation factor of 0.003 and had capacitance density of $584nF/cm^2$ at 100kHz, dissipation factor of 0.0045 at $500^{\circ}C$ deposition temperature. Both of their dielectric constant deposited at room temperature and at $500^{\circ}C$ were each approximately 40 and 100.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive power control scheme employing a self-optimization concept in femtocell systems, in order to improve system capacity, thereby reducing call-drop probability. In the proposed scheme, each femto base station(FBS) controls individual channel's transmission power base on two parameters; the neighboring cell's transmission power for each individual channel which is delivered from a femto-gateway and the received power strength from neighboring cells which is periodically measured by means of a spectrum sensing. Adaptive adjustment of individual channel's transmission power in accordance with femto mobile station(FMS) mobility features can also reduce undesirable handovers and evenly distribute traffic load over all femtocells. In addition, the manipulative control of channel's transmission power is able to keep the system coverage and the call-drop probability within an acceptable range, regardless of density of femtocells. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme outperforms existing schemes in terms of the system coverage and the call-drop probability.

  • The error diffusion algorithm is good for reproducing continuous image to binary image. However the reproduction of edge characteristic is weak in power spectrum analysts of display error. In this paper, an error diffusion method which include pre-filter algorithm for edge characteristic enhancement is proposed Pre-filter algorithm is organized horizontal and vertical directional differential value and weighting function of pre-filter First, it is obtained the horizontal and vertical differential value from the peripheral pixels in original image using $3{\times}3$ Sobel operator Secondly weighting function of pre-filter is composed by function including absolute value and sign of differential value The improved Error diffusion algorithm using pre-filter, present a good result visually which edge characteristic is enhanced. The difference between orignal image and halftoning image is compared with edge-enhanced error diffusion algorithm by measuring the radially averaged power spectrum density.

  • In this paper, we propose an average acquisition time and hardware design of high speed PN code synchronous acquisition system using DMF(Digital Matched Filter) with new switching method in DS-SS/CDMA(Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Code Division Multiple Access). In reality, the PN code synchronous acquisition system using DMF has very complicated hardware, high cost and high power consumption. The PN code synchronous acquisition system using proposed switching method DMF can overcome those disadvantages. Therefore, we can make hardware simple and obtain low power and high density by reducing the area by 1/5 against the conventional approaches of using either the matched filters or the serial correlators. The proposed system architecture is also simple and easily controllable since there is no square-term circuit after execution of digital filtering.
