Switched-inductor (SL) Z-source three-level inverter is a novel high power topology. The SL based impedance network can boost the input dc voltage to a higher value than the single LC impedance network. However, as all the neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverters, the SL Z-source three-level inverter has to balance the neutral-point (NP) potential too. The principle of the inverter is introduced and then the effects of NP potential unbalance are analyzed. A NP balancing method is proposed. Other than the methods for conventional NPC inverter without Z-source impedance network, the upper and lower shoot-through durations are corrected by the feedforward compensation factors. With the proposed method, the NP potential is balanced and the voltage boosting ability of the Z-source network is not affected obviously. Simulations are conducted to verify the proposed method.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of drinking alcohol on bio-electrical potential at twelve source points. Methods: Twenty healthy adults were assigned to alcohol and water groups by a random cross-over design. Bio-electrical potential at twelve source points were measured before and after drinking alcohol or water and the change of bio-electrical potential was analyzed and compared between the alcohol and the water groups. Results: Bio-electrical potential at LI4, ST42, KI3, PC7, TE4, GB40, LR3 in the alcohol group was significantly increased compared to those in the water group. Conclusions: Drinking alcohol increased bio-electrical potential at source points of LI, ST, KI, PC, TE, GB and LR in healthy human subjects.

This paper describes power potential field method for the collision-free path planning of stereo-vision based mobile robot. Area based stereo matching is performed for obstacle detection in uncertain environment. The repulsive potential is constructed by distributing source points discretely and evenly on the boundaries of obstacles and superposing the power potential which is defined so that the source potential will have more influence on the robot than the sink potential when the robot is near to source point. The mobile robot approaches the goal point by moving the robot directly in negative gradient direction of the main potential. We have investigated the possibility of power potential method for the collision-free path planning of mobile robot through various experiments.
In this paper, we present a method to evaluate source locations and distributed region which is specified brain activity, as indicated by locations and strengths of intracranial sources, using potential gradients of interpolation polynomials and topographic mapping of the EEG records. This method can analyze the variance of source temporally or spatially and leads to enable a quantitative evaluation of potential gradients drawing methods which is now being used in the clinic. In the result, we obtained the overall potentials distribution on the entire scalp and the information of potential source locations from the EEG records of a patient which was known to epilepsy.

Statistical trajectory analysis has been widely used to identify potential source regions for chemically and radiatively important chemical species in the atmosphere. The most widely used method is a statistical source-receptor model developed by Stohl (1996), of which the underlying principle is that elevated concentrations at an observation site are proportionally related to both the average concentrations on a specific grid cell where the observed air mass has been passing over and the residence time staying over that grid cell. Thus, the method can compute a residence-time-weighted mean concentration for each grid cell by superimposing the back trajectory domain on the grid matrix. The concentration on a grid cell could be used as a proxy for potential source strength of corresponding species. This technical note describes the statistical trajectory approach and introduces its application to estimate potential source regions of $CO_2$ enhancements observed at Korean Global Atmosphere Watch Observatory in Anmyeon-do. Back trajectories are calculated using HYSPLIT 4 model based on wind fields provided by NCEP GDAS. The identified $CO_2$ potential source regions responsible for the pollution events observed at Anmyeon-do in 2010 were mainly Beijing area and the Northern China where Haerbin, Shenyang and Changchun mega cities are located. This is consistent with bottom-up emission information. In spite of inherent uncertainties of this method in estimating sharp spatial gradients within the vicinity of the emission hot spots, this study suggests that the statistical trajectory analysis can be a useful tool for identifying anthropogenic potential source regions for major GHGs.

We present two high-order potential flow models for the evolution of the interface in the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in two dimensions. One is the source-flow model and the other is the Layzer-type model which is based on an analytic potential. The late-time asymptotic solution of the source-flow model for arbitrary density jump is obtained. The asymptotic bubble curvature is found to be independent to the density jump of the fluids. We also give the time-evolution solutions of the two models by integrating equations numerically. We show that the two high-order models give more accurate solutions for the bubble evolution than their low-order models, but the solution of the source-flow model agrees much better with the numerical solution than the Layzer model.

This paper describes a risk assessment of electric shock based on a experiment which demonstrates a submerged commercial power source. For the experiment a water tank was made and an outlet was installed on an interior wall. After filling the tank with a conductive water solution, the electric potential was measured with the distance, the direction from the power source, the conductivity and the level of the water solution. As a result, the potential distribution due to the outlet energized and exposed to the water solution depends on the distance from the submerged power source, however, the direction from the power source, the conductivity and the level of the water solution seemed to scarcely affected on the electrical shock risk.
In this paper a study of neuro-pathway estimation based on visual and somatosensory evoked potential is given. The evoked potentials which are caused by visual and somatosensory stimulation are detected by an average method. The forward problem that is estimating a scalp potential from a given electrical source in the brain is solved by using a triple concentric spherical shell model of the head and a single current dipole model of the neuron activity. The inverse problem which calculates a source position is solved by a least square fit between the model predicted potential and a given evoked potential measurement. The similarities between estimated sensory neuro-pathways and physiological brain function regions are verified.

Microplastics are fractions of plastics less than 5 mm in size and can be divided into artificially manufactured primary microplastics and physically or chemically decomposed secondary microplastics. In this study, the emission source of microplastics made by the human activities is defined as the primary source of microplastics. And the primary sources of microplastics were summarized by using the literature and the emission potential of each source was estimated. As a result, this study showed that 63,000 to 216,000 ton/year of microplastics were discharged into the environment. Among primary sources, transport, tyre dust, and laundry were the major primary sources.
We present the morphological evolution at different source powers in the ion-enhanced etching of GaAs(100) in $BCl_3-Cl_2$ plasma. With little ion bombardment at floating potential, the surface develops <110< ridges and {111} facets, as it does in purely chemical etching. The morphology develops in less than 1 minute and grows bigger over time. The etched surfaces show different morphologies at different source powers with constant pressures of gases. Lowe. source power (100 W) produces poorly developed crystallographic surfaces while higher source power (900 W) produces well developed crystallographic surfaces. This is attributed to the availability of excited reactive species(chlorine atoms) depending on source powers. With more concentration of the reactive species at higher source powers, the surface of GaAs(100) would be a surface that is expected from thermodynamics while the surface morphology would be determined by sputtering in the lack of reactive species. Statistical analysis of the surfaces, based on scaling theory, revealed two spatial exponents: one(smaller than one) is formed by atomic scale mechanisms, the other(larger than one) is formed by larger scale mechanisms which is believed to develop facets.
