Implementation of Digital Laser Welding Cell for Car Side Panel Assembly (차체 사이드 패널 조립을 위한 디지털 레이저용접 셀 구현)

  • Because of the turbulent markets and the increasing demand on product quality, the application of new technology to practice is increasingly important. In case of automotive industries, they take interest in laser welding to solve these problems because laser welding has many advantages such as good accessibility, welding quality, fast welding speed and so on. To apply this technology to welding of car body, the data of laser welding are collected through lots of the experiment according to the material, geometry and layer number of welding points. Based on the experiment results and the information of product, i.e. the car side panel, the clustering of stitches for laser welding was carried out and the optimal equipments are selected through the comparison between the requirements of welding and the potential of equipments. Using these results, laser welding cell for the car side panel are configured with the concept of the digital manufacturing, which ensures maximum planning security with visualization and simulation. Finally, the optimal laser welding cell is chosen by the evaluation of alternative cells with assessment criteria.

Occurrence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Fishery Products from the Southwestern Coast of Korea

  • Fishery products were collected in seafood markets located on the southwestern coast of Korea between 2000 and 2004 and examined for the presence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. This strain was detected in 138 of 843 samples (16.4%) that included dams, eels, crabs, octopuses, and cockles. The number of positive findings for V. parahaemolyticus among fishery products was the highest in dams at 23.6% followed by eels at 22.1%, crabs at 21.1%, octopuses at 18.0%, and cockles at 14.3%. V. parahaemolyticus was detected with overall frequencies of 15.3, 14.8, 13.8, 21.6, and 18.6% from 2000 to 2004, respectively. The monthly occurrence of the organism rapidly increased to over 20% between June and October. The monthly cases of food borne disease caused by V. parahaemolyticus in Korea over the last five years began to increase in August and reached its peak in September. However, the potential for outbreaks of food borne disease caused by V. parahaemolyticus was relatively minor between November and April. Consequently, this study shows that fishery products harvested from June to October must be handled sanitarily in Korea.

A Study on Contract Attributes, Firm's Performance and Partnership Intention in the Digital Contents Service Industry (디지털 콘텐츠 산업에서의 계약 속성, 성과 및 파트너십 의도에 관한 연구)

  • Although digital contents markets grow very rapidly and are known as a higher value added industry, there is also potential risk in producing digital contents. Thus, many firms have begun to produce a firm's digital contents by outsourcing from other companies in order to catch-up new technologies and to make stable profits. However, since contracts are decided mostly based on bidding price and also standard contract are not available, there is a limit on the benefit from the contents outsourcing. Thus, this study argues that if both contract factors such as contract concreteness and flexibility are well managed, the on-line digital contents will increase the performance of a firm. This study deals with the influence on the firm's performance by the outsourcing in contract factors based on the empirical analysis. Using regression analysis with these two dependent variables, the findings showed that the contract concreteness had positive effects on both cost improvement performance and efficiency improvement performance, but the contract feasibility only had positive effect on efficiency improvement performance. In addition, the result of the study showed that the contract performance of outsourcing the digital contents have a positive impact on the partnership intention.

Factors Influencing Purchase Intention of Vietnamese Adults: A Case Study of Dairy Products

  • Vietnam has become one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia, with huge demand for many kinds of consumer goods, including dairy products. Although the domestic industry of producing and distributing milk has flourished dramatically in recent years, Vietnam still heavily hinges on dairy imports. The total value of milk products in 2020 exceeded 1 billion USD, leading to Vietnam being one of the 20 biggest importers of dairy milk globally. To explore this potential industry, we applied a multivariate linear regression model to investigate the milk consumption behaviors of Vietnamese adults. 2000 participants took part in our survey in which the products evaluated were Dielac Alpha - the most famous national powdered milk introduced in 2007 by Vinamilk. This product was designed for all ages, from children aged 0-6 to pregnant women or adults. The results indicate that the decision to purchase milk could be attributed to a host of factors. While price represents the most strongly influential factor, there might be variations according to consumer characteristics, namely age, marriage status, gender, and particular shopping behavior. From these findings, we propose some managerial implications for regulatory bodies and relevant enterprises to prepare appropriate policies and strategies for their business development.

  • Data-driven markets depend on access to data as a resource for products and services. Since the quality of information that can be drawn from data increases with the available amount and quality of the data, businesses involved in the data economy have a great interest in accessing data from other market players and sharing data with other stakeholders. Despite the growing need for access to data and evidence of the economic and social benefits, data access and sharing remains below its potential. Individuals, businesses, and governments often face barriers to data access, which may be compounded by the reluctance to share, including within and across sectors. To address these challenges, this paper focuses on finding possible solutions for a better data-sharing economy. This paper 1) Discusses opportunities and challenges of open data and the data-sharing economy, limitations of private sector data, and issues with open government data. 2) Introduces open government data initiatives and open governance networks initiatives. 3) Suggests possible solutions, including the governance and management, the legal and policy frameworks, and the technical standards for open data with proposing an open data governance model for the data-sharing economy.

  • Recently, Cyber Physical System (CPS) is one of the core technologies for realizing Internet of Things (IoT). The CPS is a new paradigm that seeks to converge the physical and cyber worlds in which we live. However, the CPS suffers from certain CPS issues that could directly threaten our lives, while the CPS environment, including its various layers, is related to on-the-spot threats, making it necessary to study CPS security. Therefore, a survey-based in-depth understanding of the vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks is required of CPS security and privacy for IoT. In this paper, we analyze security issues, threats, and solutions for IoT-CPS, and evaluate the existing researches. The CPS raises a number challenges through current security markets and security issues. The study also addresses the CPS vulnerabilities and attacks and derives challenges. Finally, we recommend solutions for each system of CPS security threats, and discuss ways of resolving potential future issues.

Perceived values, price fairness, and behavioral intentions toward luxury fashion brands - A comparison of luxury, luxury-bargain, and non-luxury consumers -

  • This study examined whether and how consumers who seek a bargain in their shopping for luxury fashion brands differ from traditional luxury consumers or non-luxury consumers on their market-related attitudes. To do so, this study compared multi-dimensional perceived values, fairness price perceptions, satisfaction with purchase, brand loyalty, and future purchase intention among luxury consumers, luxury-bargain seekers, and non-luxury consumers. Data was obtained from online surveys and the market-related attitudes were compared using an ANOVA test. The comparion of three types of consumers revealed that luxury-bargain seekers and regular luxury consumers are distinct consumer markets. Overall, luxury consumers displayed high perceived values and brand loyalty and were fairly satisfied with the purchase at full-prices. On the other hand, luxury-bargain seekers showed significantly low perceived social value, perceived fairness toward the original price of the brands, and brand loyalty. They were satisfied with the bargain purchase but not likely to purchase the luxury at full-prices in the future. Understanding these distinct types of consumers and targeting them with different product and pricing strategies are important for luxury brands and retailers to expand luxury consumer base without diluting their brands' prestige image. Potential marketing strategies based on the findings of this study were suggested.

Technology Trends and Patenting Prospects of Medicinal Plants in Korea (한국 약용작물의 기술 동향 및 특허 전망)

  • Background: Medicinal plants are widely used in Asia. They have proven to be an invaluable asset in modern drug discovery and their demand has been steadily increasing across various industries. Methods and Results: Using 4,867 valid patents related to 12 oriental medicinal plants of 10 country groups, the growth and development potential of patents was evaluated. The cites per patent (CPP) and patent family size (PFS) indices were used to evaluate the market capability and technological level of the collected patents. Meanwhile, the patent impact index (PII) and technology strength (TS) were used to compare the technological competitiveness of patents among various technology types and markets. Both CPP and PFS indices showed that magnolia-vine and balloon flower have numerous core or original patents. Furthermore, an increase in both PII and TS indices was observed. A newly designed intellectual property multi-layer (IPM) model predicted that the medicine, genome and cosmetic categories have a high possibility of patent application growth. Conclusions: The IPM model can be used to provide the scope of particular technology fields for patent development. In addition, this study can assist patents to advance in the international market and guide the development of a national industrial strategy.

A study on the Estimation of Weight of Purchasing Power Indicator for Export Market Selection of Defense Industry Products (방산물자 수출시장 선정을 위한 구매력 지표의 가중치 산정에 관한 연구)

  • It is important to accurately analyze the various factors such as the local situation of the purchasable countries and the international situation in order to export defense industrial goods developed in Korea and to enter overseas markets based on the results. In the case of defense materials, unlike the civilian sector, there are a limited number of countries with high export potential. Therefore, to select a possible export market, it is necessary to consider the purchasing power index through the examination of the purchasability of the exportable market. Therefore, the present study chose a total of 18 purchasing power indicators in five major categories of economic power, military power, defense science and technology level, friendly relations with Korea, and possibility of dispute. By calculating each weight with AHP and Fuzzy-AHP analysis, the results was presented the purchasing power index and the weighting. Based on the results will contribute to the study on the method of selecting the export market of the defense materials and the establishment of the export policy of the defense industry.

Consumer acceptance of edible insect foods: an application of the extended theory of planned behavior

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to measure consumer acceptance of edible insect foods (EIFs) while applying the extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB). Insects as food have attracted interest as potential possible sources of nutrition for the future. This study investigated consumers' perception toward insect food and future purchase behaviors. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A survey was conducted among citizens of Korea. About two thirds of respondents had tried an EIF previously, and the mean value for food neophobia was 3.1 on a 5-point Likert scale. Respondents were divided into 2 groups of those experienced with EIFs and those not and by level of food neophobia. An independent t-test, multiple regression and descriptive analyses were conducted on the data. RESULTS: The primary reason for not eating EIFs was that their insect form induced disgust. Comparisons of ETPB attributes by experience with EIFs showed significant differences between groups for food neophobia, subjective norm, attitude, and behavioral intention. In addition, significant differences were found for subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, attitude, and behavioral intention between 2 neophobia groups. Finally, the results of measuring the relationships between ETPB attributes and behavioral intention showed only subjective norm and attitude affected behavioral intention. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that enhanced subjective norms producing a publicly accepted EIFs environment would help encourage the purchase of EIFs. The results of this study can help the development of EIF products for future food markets.
