복합소재 O-링 접합계면의 단열특성에 관한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 (Computer Simulation on Insulation Characteristics of Composite Material O-rings)

  • O-ring seal is usual component part in various mechanical apparatus for sealing that makes efficient performance of the equipments. The sealing performance of O-ring is affected in environments of the O-rings, like that applied pressure, working temperature, pre-compressed ratio and materials. In this paper, a pressurized, compressed elastomeric bi-polymer O-ring inserted into a rectangular groove is analyzed numerically using the MARC finite element program. The calculated FEM results showed that bi-polymer O-ring that is manufactured by NBR for an inner and FFKM for an outer ring shows a low temperature distribution among various bi-polymer O-ring models. But, the normal contact stress between the flange and upper part of the O-ring is small compared to other bi-polymer model.

  • Recently, polymer-clay hybrid materials have received considerable attention from both a fundamental research and application point of view. This organ-inorganic hybrid, which contains a nanoscale dispersion of the layered silicates, is a material with greatly improved thermal and mechanical characteristics. Two classes of nanocomposites were synthesized using an unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix and sodium montmorillonite as well as an organically modified montmorillonite as the reinforcing agents. X -ray diffraction pattern of the composites showed that the interlayer spacing of the modified montmorillonite were exfoliated in polymer matrix. The mechanical properties also supported these findings, since in general, tensile strength, modulus with modified montmorillonite were higher than the corresponding properties of the composites with unmodified montmorillonite. Adding organically modified clay improved the tensile strength of unsaturated polyester by $22\%$ and the tensile modulus of unsaturated polyester was also improved by $34\%$.

  • Transdermal therapeutic system(TTS) is often used as the method of drug dosage into the epidermic skin. Natural polymer were selected as ointment material of TTS. We investigated the permeation of natural polymer ointment containing drug in rat skin using horizontal membrane cell model. Permeation properties of materials were investigated for water-soluble drug such as oxiniacic acid in vitro. These results showed that skin permeation rate of drug across the composite was mainly dependent on the property of ointment base and drug. Proper selection of the polymeric materials which resemble and enhance properties of the delivering drug was found to be important in controlling the skin permeation rate. This result suggests a possible use of natural polymer ointment base as TTS of antihyperlipoproteinemic agent.

  • This study investigated the strength of concrete to improve construction material with polymer cement mortar. Some mixtures composed of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber(SBR) and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate(EVA) Poly Vinyl Alcohol(PVA) were studied. The three mixtures carried out the physical, mechanical test to determine its properties which a include : compressive, flexural, bond strength test. The test results show that the compressive strength was increased at long-term age when compared to early ages for increasing polymer contents. It was found that flexural strength and bond strength became larger as polymer to cement ratio became higher.

  • We report failure mode observed in polymer EL blue devices, relating with life curve. The modes are analyzed by observing compositional and morphological variation using TEM-EDX, STM, and reverse engineering method as destructive ways, and also investigated mobility changes of hole and electron by measuring transient EL as a nondestructive way corresponding to life curve. We believe that the postulated failure modes in polymer EL devices can present right directions to obtain better performance, especially life time, of polymer devices in material and device structural designing points of view.

  • In order to fabricate the stable conductive polymer actuators which are operated in air. Nafion with mixture of LiCl has been used as solid polymer electrolyte material. Based on these materials, beam type and sandwich type actuators have been fabricated and mechanical properties are measured. This kind of all-solid-polymer actuator can be used for practical applications.

  • The chief advantage of polymer arrester, from a handling viewpoint, design of pressure relief, anti-contamination, electrical failuer was reduced by polymer arrester. The life expectancy of polymer arrester depend on a number of design factor.   • Polymer insulators are used widely in variable fields for high voltage insulation and separating people from high voltage charging parts for safety and also supporting overhead power line in electric railway. But it may be broken down by tracking path resulting from continuous surface discharge. This paper has investigated synthetically both the characteristics of electrical aging using precision CT(current transformer) and the thermal aging using thermography method. Electrical aging was analyzed for time-frequency region and thermal aging was illustrated by image processing method. This synthetic method may be an appropriate one to evaluate the surface degradation of polymer insulator.

  • The article presents the recent research development in polymer ferroelectric non-volatile memory. A brief overview is given of the history of ferroelectric memory and device architectures based on inorganic ferroelectric materials. Particular emphasis is made on device elements such as metal/ferroelectric/metal type capacitor, metal-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor (MFIS) and ferroelectric field effect transistor (FeFET) with ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and its copolymers with trifluoroethylene (TrFE). In addition, various material and process issues for realization of polymer ferroelectric non-volatile memory are discussed, including the control of crystal polymorphs, film thickness, crystallization and crystal orientation and the unconventional patterning techniques.

  • The existing compressor steel seal used in automotive air-conditioner has the problem of oil leakage and deterioration in shielding performance, due to the abrasion and corrosion of the material. A new type of polymer resin seal studied in this research has the characteristics of high anti-abrasiveness and anti-corrosiveness, which can oversome the defects of the steel seal. In addition, the seal needs lower manufacturing cost and is appropriate to mass production, because it is made by the injection molding method requiring no mechanical processing. The profile generation program for seal mold has been developed using the gradient method, and the molding characteristics of the seal have analyzed through the flow analysis and the warpage analysis. The program has been verified by comparing the analysis results with the measured data of the test product. The research might be said to provide the basic method to produce the polymer resin seals with various types and dimensions.
