Just as traditional markets nationwide, traditional markets in Jeju area also face a crisis due to expansion of new distribution channel and price competitiveness of large distribution companies. There are various support programs currently being carried out to prevent all risk factors of the traditional markets as government policies. But, these programs have failed to bring a positive change due to lack of specialized products of the traditional market, lack of systematic marketing and customer management, lack of market vendors' consciousness reformation. The purpose of this study is to prepare political measures to promote the revitalization of traditional markets in Jeju area and overcome these limits. To achieve this, this study analyzed the conditions of traditional markets in Jeju area and presented the specialization of items and service for each traditional market, establishment of growth strategies in connection with tourist industry and reinforcement of marketing competitiveness as measures to create a synergy effect.
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the prospects and problems in the study of geography related to the concept of commodity, transport, and supply chains. The geography studies related to commodity chains are expanded to each field of industry focusing on the subjects and economic difference which lead the commodity chain in core and periphery regions. These vertical connection are studied with the political economy approach that gives attention to geographical pattern of agricultural products and foods. But in viewpoint of commodity circuit and commodity network, the culture or subjects of micro regions and interaction are also studied. The contents of these study are to clarify the importance of cultural turn and local. And the study of chain standpoint appears that the series of transport process by transportation modes can be understood by transport chains and the physical distribution process of sea freight is to be grasped by supply chains.

Many primary schools that have been an important role in the community at the same time local important facility not only local area but also all area in Korea have shown a situation for closing and into grating a school because of a social and political measure. The reasons for thinking some application paradigm and closing schools have been important role in the point of education and culture parts. Of course, the application paradigm for closing school facility will get accomplished for a mood of local residents and a point of cultural deference, not keeping up unconditionally for closing a school. For accomplishing versatile purposes, initiative role of the organs of local education is very important. The organs of local education have an application paradigm that closing schools are the facilities for local organs of education will plan some specific facility to be matched for local special quality and connection quality of surrounding facility and environment. Before an application paradigm of closing school, it is very important that a fundamental factor for negligence the facility will be solved. Eventually, the organs of education have a plan for technical study of this paradigm and consider keeping and mending of closing facility, rent the facility for payment or not they want, and confer money problem not an unconditional scale.
In the age of global competition, city brand is a significant element for establishing a city's competitiveness. City branding is the process of building a storytelling about cities' content. Among the various contents that differentiate cities, this study seeks to discuss the role of an event and a city brand in the process of city branding based on the city marketing and event tourism literatures. This research uses grounded theory and a case study to examine Seoul exploring the changes in the Hi Seoul Festival and the Hi Seoul city brand over the last two decades. The qualitative research includes a secondary data analysis based on case studies from domestic and foreign regions and their festivals. The analytical results indicted three limitations: inconsistency, a lack of identity, and political leverage. Based on the limitations, this study discusses the importance of the connection between city identity and event content, suggesting implications for moving forward toward a stable Seoul city branding strategy for the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde is a tale of love framed by an overarching pattern of death, set in the war-torn and doomed Troy, from which the lovers cannot separate their fate. Compared with Boccaccio's poem, the attention paid to death in Chaucer's version underlies his complex treatment of love. Above all, the language of death in Chaucer's poem provides the thread from which the entangled web of love is woven. Death together with desire pervades the language and rhetoric of the poem, prominent not only in the courtly love tropes, but also in the characters' asides and speeches. The prominence of these two concepts, desire and death, seem to be central to the various issues that the poem contains explicitly and implicitly. That is, two concepts are the basis for the breadth and depth of Chaucer's examination of love in light of the social and political realities of late fourteenth century England. The language of death in Chaucer's poem reflects the powerful influence on his imagination. With the devastation wrought by the plague and the changing fortunes of England in the war with France, Chaucer's world was once saturated in death, and one that could amply parallel the turn from prosperity to downfall. In particular, Chaucer's poem is suffused with the language of contagion and death in connection with desire. Troilus's lovesickness mimics the progress of a viral infection. Once breached, his body performs its newly compromised identity through fever, loss of appetite, and physical disintegration. On the other hand, Chaucer depicts Boccaccio's conventional portrait of Criseyde into a elaborate paramour of a pathogen. She is characterized as the contaminant that infects male hero. As for the matter of guardianship-benefit network which has been at the heart of the discussion of power elites and clan politics in Kazakhstan, it has been often maintained that it is basically formed by the framework of the regional and descent connection net called Zhuz or at least it has been heavily under Zhuz's influence. But it is pointed out that the controversy of Zhuz suffers from a lot of limitations in explaining the surface of power elites in the recent process of political changes and the rearrangement of power relations. Consequently, this paper tried to take a closer look at the matter focusing on the social backgrounds of elites from Junior zhuz, who have been estimated to be relatively pushed back in terms of the advancement into the central power. As a result, it was found that the backgrounds of clan and tribe origin within Zhuz couldn't have any foundation to be seen as a decisive element through which they could grow into power elites. The phenomenon of Kazakhstani elites is a legacy of concrete historic situations. The important consideration points for analyzing the emergence of elites which could be applied to a nomadic and traditional society can hardly be an invariable framework for analyzing modern elites since independence. Since 2000, Kazakhstan has experienced economic changes including privatization due to the absolute strengthening of presidential influence which turned into a foundation for a new authoritarian system, the rearrangement of the inner circle of power, and their decisions. These changes in situations have had profound effects on the character of power elites. The phenomenon that clandestine connections have shown their appearances as they have gotten intertwined with various factors, in particular, in the economic field which has been heavily under Junior zhuz makes us convinced that the elite organization in Kazakhstan has always been the product of political and economic changes. In reality, the behaviors of elites were the outcome continuously reflecting environmental situations surrounding them, and those situations lie in a complicated and multiple-layered connection net. Therefore, it is believed that having interests in elites' social backgrounds and maintaining many pieces of information on them will be able to be a more useful approach to analyzing the elite society in the future in that interests in their social backgrounds become an informant of various network formation nets which reflect real situations.

This study aims to investigate the characteristics of cyber communities composed of migrant workers from communities without propinquity in Korea. Its methods are both qualitative and quantitative. It further seeks to discover the relationship between the social capital formed and reproduced within these cyber communities and participants' cultural adaptation to Korean society. The study revealed that ethnic and non-ethnic communities differed in terms of strength of cohesion, space constraints, and links with the outside world. The former showed characteristics of a localized community type. The main motivations for migrant workers' participation in the ethnic cyber community were communication and friendship rather than cooperation and sharing among members. They usually used cyber communication media to communicate with one another. Conversely, the latter showed characteristics of an integrative type. Despite the difficulties in applying for membership and information provided in Korean, a high percentage of migrant workers participated in the community to obtain crucial information. The results did not show a significant correlation between social capital and migrant workers' traits within the cyber community, while a strong correlation emerged among four factors of social capital: faith, norms, networking, and political participation. The study showed that social capital in the cyber community was in direct proportion to an integrative type of cultural adaptation to Korean society. In particular, there was a strong connection between the cultural adaptation exhibited by members of the migrant subculture and their participation in discussions on political issues and human rights, with some migrants even functioning as agents of social change as participants in citizens' movements. The findings suggest that the cyber community facilitates the migrant subculture's communication with and integration into the indigenous Korean culture. Migrant workers' participation in the cyber community is therefore validated as an instrumental practice for members of this subculture to adapt to Korean society.

This study explores passengers' travel characteristics at six bus stops on the Seoul Ring Expressway using smart traffic card data. Based on the characteristics, political strategies to improve bus facilities on expressway are suggested. Firstly, among them two bus stops of Guri and Uiwang-Cheonggye have higher transfer rate of passengers, 37.56% and 36.9% of the total intercity (red) bus passengers on the expressway, respectively. Secondly, Uiwang-Cheonggye bus stop has the highest transfer rate, and Guri bus stop has also higher transfer rate and the highest on-and-off passengers. It implies that both bus stops need to be prioritized for improving bus stop facility, access roads, and connection facility between the bi-directional stops. Thirdly, Guri (down) bus stop has relatively longer waiting time for transfer, thus shorter bus headways running the bus stop should be considered. Lastly, most passengers using both stops come to and from Bundang-gu in Geongnam City. Overall, the results of this study would be helpful for transport planners to develop effective bus route policies and bus operation.
