The implementation of ESG practices in the fashion industry has been accelerating, and its significance has been growing across all industries. This paper aims to examine the strategies for ESG implementation in domestic fashion brands and analyze how ESG principles are applied in the context of domestic conscious fashion. To analyze conscious fashion as a means of ESG implementation, the evaluation criteria of ESG from the Textile Fashion Policy Research Institute were utilized as analytical tools. As a result, five categories of domestic conscious fashion emerged: animal-free vegan fashion, eco-friendly plant-based vegan materials, upcycled fashion, regenerated fiber fashion utilizing waste materials, and fair trade fashion. The characteristics of these ESG practices in conscious fashion were identified with four key features. Firstly, the adoption of environmentally friendly materials demonstrates a tendency towards resource conservation, minimizing environmental degradation, and protecting ecosystems. Secondly, technology-driven circular practices are predominant in vegan and upcycled types, evident in the development of fashion materials and secondhand content. Thirdly, design practices based on scarcity incorporate characteristics of upcycling and fair trade. Lastly, the practices of social and ethical values underlie the philosophies of three types of conscious fashion. With the acceleration of ESG practices in the fashion industry and the increasing importance thereof, it is expected that domestic conscious fashion in South Korea will diversify in the future.

This paper proposes a safety-critical standby component unavailability model that contains aging effects caused by the elapsed time from installation, component degradation due to surveillance tests, and imperfect maintenance actions. An application of the model to a Motor-Operated Valve and a Motor-Driven Pump involved in the HPIS of a VVER/1000-V446 nuclear power plant is demonstrated and compared with other existing models at component and system levels. In addition, the effects of different unavailability models are reflected in the NPP's risk criterion, i.e., core damage frequency, over five maintenance periods. The results show that, compared with other models that do not simultaneously consider the full effects of degradation and maintenance impacts, the proposed model realistically evaluates the unavailabilities of the safety-related components and the involved systems as a plant age function. Therefore, it can effectively reflect the age-dependent CDF impact of a given testing and maintenance policy in a specified time horizon.

Fueled by international efforts towards AI standardization, including those by the European Commission, the United States, and international organizations, this study introduces a AI-driven framework for analyzing advancements in drone technology. Utilizing project data retrieved from the NTIS DB via the "drone" keyword, the framework employs a diverse toolkit of supervised learning methods (Keras MLP, XGboost, LightGBM, and CatBoost) enhanced by BERTopic (natural language analysis tool). This multifaceted approach ensures both comprehensive data quality evaluation and in-depth structural analysis of documents. Furthermore, a 6T-based classification method refines non-applicable data for year-on-year AI analysis, demonstrably improving accuracy as measured by accuracy metric. Utilizing AI's power, including GPT-4, this research unveils year-on-year trends in emerging keywords and employs them to generate detailed summaries, enabling efficient processing of large text datasets and offering an AI analysis system applicable to policy domains. Notably, this study not only advances methodologies aligned with AI Act standards but also lays the groundwork for responsible AI implementation through analysis of government research and development investments.
Starting from 2030, mandatory group housing for pregnant sows on pig farms has been enforced, requiring to secure the group housing spaces for pregnant sows. Additionally, six weeks after mating, pregnant sows are obligated to be raised in group housing spaces, and, the use of individual stalls is prohibited. This study analyzed the impact of mandatory group housing for pregnant sows on the pig industry using the equilibrium displacement model (EDM). The results showed a decrease in production due to the increase in space allocation per sow, but more significantly, consumers' willingness to pay, driven by animal welfare considerations, increased. This led to the increase in retail prices and farm prices by 13% and 25%, respectively. Analyzing the changes in social welfare, consumer surplus is increased by 5,887 billion won, and producer surplus is also increased by 10,655 billion won, contributing to the total increase in social welfare of 16,542 billion won. This suggests that the mandatory group housing for pregnant sows have positive impacts on both consumers and producers. However, this study did not consider the cost aspect, and, therefore future research is required to address the issue of cost.
This study examines the characteristics of 24 Korean hidden champions such as key success factors, core competences, strategic problems, and desirable future directions. The study categorized them into 8 types with Danny Miller's four trajectories and top manager's decision making style(rationality and passion). Danny Miller argued in his book, Icarus paradox, that outstanding firms will extend their orientations until they reach dangerous extremes and their momentum will result in common trajectories of decline. He suggested four very common success types: Craftsmen, Builders, Pioneers, Salesmen. He also suggested common trajectories of decline:Focusing(from Craftsmen to Tinkers), Venturing(from Builders to Imperialists), Inventing(from Pioneers to Escapists), Decoupling(from Salesmen to Drifts). In Korea, successful startups appear to possess three kinds of drive: Technology-drive, Vision-drive, Market-drive. Successful technology-driven firms tend to grow as craftsmen or pioneers. Successful vision-driven and market-driven ones tend to grow as builders and salesmen respectively. Korean top managers or founders seem to have two kinds of decision making style: Passion-based and Rationality-bases. Passion-based(passionate) entrepreneurs are biased towards action or proactiveness in competing and getting things done. Rationality- based ones tend to emphasis the effort devoted to scanning and analysing information to better understand a company's threats, opportunities and options. Consequently this study suggested 4*2 types of Korean hidden champions: (1) passionate craftsmen, (2) rational craftsmen, (3) passionate builders, (4) rational builders, (5) passionate pioneers, (6) rational pioneers, (7) passionate salesmen, (8) rational salesmen. These 8 type firms showed different success stories and appeared to possess different trajectories of decline. These hidden champions have acquired competitive advantage within domestic or globally niche markets in spite of the weak market power and lack of internal resources. They have maintained their sustainable competitiveness by utilizing three types of growth strategy; (1) penetrating into the global market, (2) exploring new service market, (3) occupying the domestic market. According to the types of growth strategy, these firms showed different financial outcomes and possessed different issues for maintaining their competitiveness. This study found that Korean hidden champions were facing serious challenges from the transforming economic structure these days and possessed the decline potential from their success momentum or self-complacence. It argues that they need to take a new growth engine not to decline in the turbulent environment. It also discusses how firms overcome the economic crisis and find a new business area in promising industries for the future. It summarized the recent policy of Korean government called as "Green Growth" and discussed how small firms utilize such benefits and supports from the government. Other implications for firm strategies and governmental policies were discussed.
For a long time the German economy was primarily defined by large corporations and thriving small and medium-sized enterprises. Since about 2005 a second strand has started to emerge and it is one which is becoming increasingly important and is creating jobs - start-ups in the digital sector. This start-up activity is taking an important role in Germany's economic development: Start-up companies spawn innovations and create jobs, thus promoting the concept of competition. In general "start-up" refers to digitally-driven companies that are not more than five years old. Germany's start-up policy consists of three main parts. First of all, Germany has the characteristics of technology-based start-ups. The Hartz reform since 2002 has shown its focus on technology-based start-ups. In particular, it is the most appropriate for a start-up company to take the role of a new technology company to respond to changes in the global industrial structure. Second, it is approaching from a long-term perspective. In this regard, the small business policy, including Germany's new business policy, is seen as a tradition that can be consistent and can make policy decisions based on the basics rather than following the times. Third, the government is implementing policies centered on demand. Germany's start-up policy is summarized as a technology-based policy and new job creation. The policy response is that the government seeks the best combination of policies by adapting them to the times from the broad trend of employment market policies. What is important here is that policies are made based on consumers, not suppliers, in the process of policy making and implementation. With the Digital Agenda 2020 the Federal government has likewise committed itself to preparing the digital economy for international competition and making Germany the "No. 1 digital growth country in Europe". Ever since 1998 the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has awarded the "EXIST" start-up scholarship to students and graduates. The Ministry also invests in the High Tech start-up fund. Together with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and 18 other investors from the world of business the seed investor promotes young technology companies. Germany offers start-ups a good infrastructure and lots of funding opportunities. Berlin is regarded as Europe's start-up capital and also attracts lots of international young entrepreneurs.
Recently, to overcome the global economic recession and stimulate the sluggish economy, Korea government has adopted various policies designed to strengthen the innovative capabilities of its small or medium sized enterprises (SMEs). With our focus on ICT technology companies, this study empirically analyzes both the potentials and the limitations of the R&D information support programs which are part of these governmental efforts. Our goal is to generate insights and help develop policies based on evidence. In this study, we used statistics from 2014 on small or medium business technologies to analyze the effect that the government's R&D information support policy has had on the technological or economic performance of small or medium businesses. According to these research results, R&D support programs (assistance with R&D planning and provision of technological information) made available to small or medium businesses did have a significant correlation to technological investment. By contrast, R&D information supporting programs were found to have no direct, significant correlation to technological or economic performance. One exception was that programs that gained the benefits of R&D planning support did have a significant correlation to technological performance in the case of companies engaged in ICT research. The results of this study will provide various insights for policymakers designing policies to support technologically-driven small or medium businesses, including ICT-based companies. We anticipate that this study will be a particularly helpful guide to policy development for corporations or researchers that provide supportive information to small or medium businesses.
Although LRU is not adequate for database that has non-uniform reference pattern, it has been adopted in most database systems due to the absence of the proper alternative. We analyze database block reference pattern with the realistic database trace. Based on this analysis, we propose a new cache replacement policy. Trace analysis shows that extremely non-popular blocks take up about 70 % of the entire blocks. The influence of recency on blocks' re-reference likelihood is at first strong due to temporal locality, however, it rapidly decreases and eventually becomes negligible as stack distance increases. Based on this observation, RCB(Reference Characteristic Based) cache replacement policy, which we propose in this paper, classifies the entire blocks into four block groups by blocks' recency and re-reference likelihood, and operates different priority evaluation methods for each block group. RCB policy evicts non-popular blocks more quickly than the others and evaluates the priority of the block by frequency that has not been referenced for a long time. In a trace-driven simulation, RCB delivers a better performance than the existing polices(LRU, 2Q, LRU-K, LRFU). Especially compared to LRU. It reduces miss count by 5~l2.7%. Time complexity of RCB is O(1), which is the same with LRU and 2Q and superior to LRU-K(O(log$_2$N)) and LRFU(O(l) ~ O(log$_2$N)).
As the petroleum products produced from the Oil refinery industry (ORI), a national key industry in Korea, are supplied to other industries as an intermediate goods, the supply shortage of ORI has a large impact on the national economy. This paper attempts to analyze the supply shortage effects which are defined as the negative impact of one won of supply failure in the ORI on the production of other industries. To this end, an inter-industry analysis using an input-output (I-O) table describing inter-industry flow of intermediate goods is applied. More concretely, the supply-driven model is employed over the period 1990-2012. In addition, the results are compared with those for shipbuilding, semiconductor, and steel industries. The results show that the supply shortage effects are computed to be 0.9205 won when using 2012 I-O table. More specifically, the supply shortage effects on chemical products and transportation industries are computed to be 0.2113 and 0.1140, which are relatively large, The supply shortage effect of ORI is smaller than that of steel industry (1.4131 won), but larger than that of shipbuilding industry (0.0586 won) and that of semiconductor industry (0.1111 won).
This study aims to propose efficient way to operate the security guarding system from the perspective of administration, policy, law, institution and operation as to the private security guarding system as the Korean security guarding system needs multifaced analysis and measure to ensure efficient operation. The growth strategy has to be restructured and segmentation market needs to be driven in order to cope with the changing conditions of company from the perspective of administration. And private security guarding service companies must refrain from excessive competition while improving the contracting method such as minimum price bidding, etc. From the perspective of policy, the functions of relevant organizations such as the National Police Agency, security association, etc, and mutual cooperation must expand. Also, the profit generation event needs to be privatized and the more positive perception toward the private security guarding service is necessary. In addition, security exhibition and seminar can be expanded to lay the groundwork for the advancement of private security system. From the legal and institutional perspective, the security guarding service related law must be revised and the certification system must b introduced to cope with the changing requirement. The security guarding instructor system must be strengthened to ensure a faithful and earnest implementation of duty to instruct, supervise and educate security guarding personnel. From the perspective of security guarding system's operation, professional security technique must be introduced and applied, and the volunteer application system must be established. In addition, standard 'security guarding manual' must be crafted, and the equipment for security guarding must be modernized to ensure an efficient operation of private security guarding services.
