  • We consider an MMPP/G/1/K finite queue with two-level threshold overload control. This model has frequently arisen in the design of the integrated communication systems which support a wide range applications having various Quality of Service(QoS) requirements. Through the supplementary variable method, se derive the queue length distribution.

  • In this paper, the queueing system in series is studied. The system is a tandem queueing system which has three stations. In system, one service station has a general distributions and two service stations have exponential distribution. Each station has a single server. The customer arrives with Poisson process and is serviced sequentially. It is assumed that the order of stations does not affect the quality of services. Using the light traffic approximations, the optimal order of the system which has the three stations is decided.

  • The electronic states in implanted n-type silicon inversion layers have been calculated by solving Schrodinger and Poisson's equations self-consistently. The results show that implantation affects seriously energy levels, populations, and electron distribution of n-type silicon inversion layers. The calcualted channel charge is in excellent agreement with the experimental data reported elsewhere. This analysis is expected to provide powerful means to evaluate the performance of implanted n-channel MOSTs.

  • This article deals with the expected travel distances under Closest Open Location rule. In this paper it is shown that uniform distribution assumption over a rack, which is usually used when modeling randomized storage, is not valid under COL rule, where arrival loads follow Poisson process and duration times are independent of each other and have finite mean. We give both exact and approximate methods for the expected travel distances. Warehouse sizing problem is also included.

  • We consider single server feedback queueing systems with priorities. In the model, there are J stations and job classes. Jobs of class i arrive at station i according to a Poisson process, and have a general service time distribution. We derive the generating functions of the number of jobs at each station just after a busy period and the formula for the mean sojourn time that a specific tagged job spends at station j from its arrival to departure from the system.

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationships between the methods used to determine the number of transferable embryos collected per flush and the estimated cumulative genetic improvements in the Japanese Holstein MOET breeding population. Cumulative genetic improvements were predicted by Monte Carlo simulation using three different determination methods (MODEL 1, MODEL 2, and MODEL 3), for calculating the number of embryos collected per flush. Moreover EBVs were estimated including or ignoring coefficients of inbreeding in MME. Inbreeding coefficients were also predicted. The number of transferable embryos was determined using normal, gamma, and Poisson distributions in MODEL 1, gamma and Poisson distributions in MODEL 2, and only the Poisson distribution in MODEL 3. The fitness of MODEL 2 in relation to field data from Hokkaido Japan was the best, and the results for MODEL3 indicated that this model is unsuitable for determining the number of transferable embryos. The largest cumulative genetic improvement (3.11) in the 10th generation was predicted by MODEL 3 and the smallest (2.83) by MODEL 2. Mean coefficients of correlation between the true and estimated breeding values were 0.738, 0.729, and 0.773 in MODELS 1, 2, and 3, respectively. It is suggested that the smallest genetic improvement in MODEL 2 resulted from the smallest correlation coefficient between the true and estimated breeding values. The differences in milk, fat, and protein yields between MODELS 2 and 3 were 182.0, 7.0, and 5.6 kg, respectively, in real units when each trait was independently selected. The inbreeding coefficient was the highest (0.374) in MODEL 2 and the lowest (0.357) in MODEL 3. The effects of different methods for determining the number of transferable embryos per flush on genetic improvements and inbreeding coefficients of the simulated populations were remarkable. The effects of including coefficients of inbreeding in MME, however, were unclear.

  • This paper have presented the breakdown voltage for double gate(DG) MOSFET. The analytical solution of Poisson's equation and Fulop's breakdown condition have been used to analyze for breakdown voltage. The double gate(DG) MOSFET has the advantage to reduce the short channel effects as improving the current controllability of gate. But we need the study for the breakdown voltage of DGMOSFET since the decrease of the breakdown voltage is unavoidable. To approximate with experimental values, we have used the Gaussian function as charge distribution for Poisson's equation, and the change of breakdown voltage has been observed for device geometry. Since this potential model has been verified in the previous papers, we have used this model to analyze the breakdown voltage. As a result to observe the breakdown voltage, the smaller channel length and the higher doping concentration become, the smaller the breakdown voltage becomes. Also we have observed the change of the breakdown voltage for gate oxide thickness and channel thickness.

  • A novel turbo coded modulation scheme, called turbo-APPM, for deep space optical communications is constructed. The constructed turbo-APPM is a serial concatenations of turbo codes, an accumulator and a pulse position modulation (PPM), where turbo codes act as an outer code while the accumulator and the PPM act together as an inner code. The generator polynomial and the puncturing rule for generating turbo codes are chosen to show the low bit error rate. At the receiver, the joint decoding is performed by exchanging soft information iteratively between the inner decoder and the outer decoder. In the outer decoder, a local iterative decoding for turbo codes is conducted before transferring soft information to the inner decoder. Poisson distribution is used to model the deep space optical channel. It is shown by simulations that the constructed turbo-APPM provides coding gains over all previously proposed schemes such as LDPC-APPM, RS-PPM and SCPPM.
