  • Carbon nitride films have been deposited on Si(100) substrate by a high voltage discharge plasma combined with laser ablation in a nitrogen atmosphere. The films were grown both with the without the presence of an assisting focused Nd:YAG laser ablation. The laser ablation of the graphite target leads to vapor plume plasma expending into th ambient nitrogen arc discharge area. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Auger electron spectroscopy were used to identify the binding structure and the content of the nitrogen species in the deposited films. The nitrogen content of the films was found to increase drastically with an increase of nitrogen pressure. The surface morphology of the films was studied using a scanning electron microscopy. Data of infrared spectroscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicate the existence of carbon-nitrogen bonds in the films. The x-ray diffraction measurements have also been taken to characterize the crystal properties of the obtained films.

  • Fluctuation of light intensity from the keyhole becomes more significant in full penetration welding than partial penetration welding, since the plasma produced in the keyhole can escape from the rear side of the keyhole. The plasma optical radiation emitted during Nd:YAG laser welding of S45C steel samples has been detected with a Photodiode and analyzed under different process conditions. As the results, the BOP was performed for welding, behavior of plasma, spatter or plume was monitored to determine the reference signal. Then, random combination was made for comparison with the reference signal, which aimed at verifying reliability of the welding monitoring system that this study intended to develop.

  • $SnO_2$ thin films were deposited on fused silica substrate by pulsed laser deposition under transverse magnetic field. We have explored the effects of magnetic field and ablation laser wavelength on the optical properties of laser-induced plasma plume and structural characteristics of the deposited $SnO_2$ films. Optical emission from the plume was monitored using an optical fiber to examine the influence of magnetic field on the population of the excited neutral and ionic species and their decay with times after laser ablation. Also, we employed photoluminescence, x-ray diffraction, and UV-Vis absorption to characterize $SnO_2$ films.

  • Langmuir probe measurements of electron density, electron temperature and potential are mad in the early stage (<5${\mu}$s) of a laser ablated plasma plume, in which a positive current form positive ions and a electron current are overlapped. The plasma wes produced by focusing the second harmonic, 532 nm, of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser on a high purity carbon target. Then the laser intensity on the target of ~1.6${\times}$10$\^$15/ W/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The measured electron desities and temperatures are ~2${\times}$10/sip 11/ cm$\^$-3/ and -3 eV. In particluar , the phenomenon that the electron temperature decreased and then increased was observed,. It could be well explained that this phenomenon occurred in the process of inverse Bremsstrahlung of free electrons in plasma. Additionally, the plasma potential(>11V) was higher than the published values.

  • Carbon nitride films were grown on Si (100) substrate by a laser-electric discharge method with/without a magnetic field assistance. The magnetic field leads to vapor plume plasma expending upon the ambient arc discharge plasma area. Influence of the magnetic field has resulted in increased of a crystallite size int he films due to bombardment (heating) of Si substrates by energetic carbon and nitrogen species generated during cyclotron motion of electrons in the discharge zone. The surface morphology of the films with a deposition time of 2 hours was studied using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In order to determine the structural crystalline parameters, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to analysis the grown films.

  • We present an innovative real-time laser welding monitoring technique employing the correlation analysis of the plasma plume optical emission generated during the process. The plasma optical radiation emitted during Nd:YAG laser welding of S45C steel samples has detected with a Photodiode and analyzed under different process conditions. The discrete DC voltage difference, filter methods and wavelet transform has been used to decompose the optical signal into various discrete series of sequences over different frequency bands. Considering that wavelet analysis can decompose the optical signals, extract the characteristic information of the signals and define the defects location accurately, it can be used to implement process-control of laser welding.

  • The plasma emission characteristics are investigated in cylindrical syringe plasma jet device. Cylindrical syringe electrode is applied AC power using inverter. In the center of syringe is injected into a inert gas and plasma jet occurs. If there is no ground electrode, firing voltage is 3 kV and plasma column length is 10 mm. According to high firing voltage and large current, the plasma column length control is difficult. The case of an internal ground electrode, firing voltage is 1 kV. Because of the losing current from internal ground, even if a higher input voltage, plasma emission does not occur. The case of an external ground electrode, the plasma column can be controlled between 0~10 mm with change the applied voltage from 1 to 2 kV, and the discharging current changed from 1 to 4 mA.

  • The effects of multiple exposures to pesticides on plasma cholinesterase(ChE) activities and urinary p-nitrophenol excretion were evaluated in rats. Rats were received single dose i.p. with $LD_{50}/100(mg/kg)$ of organophosphorous(OP), organophosphorous-organochroline(OP-OC), organophosphorous-carbamate(OP-CAB), organophosphorous-organoarsenate(OP-OA) pesticides for 4 consecutive days. In repeated administration of pesticides, plasma ChE activities were decreased, but urinary p-nitrophenol were increased after the first injection and then decreased gradually The recovery rates of ChE activities and p-nitrophenol excretion at 48 hours after the fourth Injection were delayed in comparision with the baseline value of 24 hours before the first injection. Statistical significances were found between OP and other groups except OP-OA group after the second injection in plasma ChE activities, but in urinary p-nitrophenol excretion there was statistical significance only between OP and OP-CAB.

  • This study includes the efface of shielding gas types on $CO_2$ laser weldability of low carbon automotive galvanized steel. The types of shielding gas evaluated are He, $CO_2$, Ar, $N_2$, 50%Ar+50%$N_2$. The weld penetration, strength, formability(Erichsen test) of Laser weld are found to be strongly dependent upon the types of shielding gas used. Further, the maximum travel speed and flow rate to form a keyhole weld is also dependent upon types of shielding gas. The ability of shielding gas in removing plasma plume and thus increasing weld penetration is believed to be closely related with ionization/dissociation potential, which determine the period of plasma formation and disappearance. Further, thermal conductivity and reactivity of gas with molten pool also give strong effect on penetration and porosity formation which in turn affect on the formability and strength.
