Objectives : The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of physical therapy and related factors on cognitive function in stroke patients. Methods : Questionnaires were completed by 36 stroke patients at physical therapy room in Dongeui Medical Center from September 1999 to September 2000. The Mini-Mental State Examination-Korea(MMSR-K) was used to assess the differences for cognitive function in patients who had suffered a stroke. Results: There were severe $16.7\%$, mild $16.6\%$, and normal $66.7\%$ in distributions for cognitive function. respectively. In the difference of cognitive function score for at initial, 25.64 for smokers had significantly higher than 20.36 for nonsmokers(p<0.05). Also, 26.21 for smokers had higher than 21.27 for nonsmokers alter a month(p<0.05). However, no significant difference existed in comparison at initial with after a month. 25.0 for patients without coma was higher than 9.50 for with(p<0.05), 25.80 for patients without was also higher than 10.16 for with in after a month. There were no statistically significant variables related to difference for cognitive performance in multiple regression analysis. conclusions: Results indicated that smoker and patients without coma at onset had high cognitive functions.

An initial approach for the identification of physical causes underlying the spatial coherency of seismic ground motions it presented. The approach relies on the observation that amplitude and phase variability of seismic data recorded over extended areas around the amplitude and phase of a common, coherent component are correlated. It suffices then to examine the physical causes for the amplitude variability in the seismic motions, in order to recognize the causes for the phase variability and, consequently, the spatial coherency. In this study, the effect of randomness in the shear wave velocity at a site on the amplitude variability of the surface motions mi investigated by means of simulations. The amplitude variability of the simulated motions around the amplitude of the common component is contained within envelope functions, the shape of which suggests, on a preliminary basis, the trend of the decay of coherency with frequency.
In many cases the systems are so complex that it is not possible to obtain reasonable models using physical laws. Also a model based on physical laws contains a number of unknown parameters even if the structure is derived from physical laws. These problems can be solved by system identification. In this paper, plate activity vibration is selected as an example for system identification. The transfer functions of this system is derived by using ARMAX based on input/output data through experiment.

The Weibull family of lifetime distributions play a fundamental role in reliability engineering and life testing problems. This paper investigates the potential usefulness of transmuted new generalized Weibull (TNGW) distribution for modeling lifetime data. This distribution is an important competitive model that contains twenty-three lifetime distributions as special cases. We can obtain the TNGW distribution using the quadratic rank transmutation map (QRTM) technique. We derive the analytical shapes of the density and hazard functions for graphical illustrations. In addition, we explore some mathematical properties of the TNGW model including expressions for the quantile function, moments, entropies, mean deviation, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves and the moments of order statistics. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the model parameters. Finally the applicability of the TNGW model is presented using nicotine in cigarettes data for illustration.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the effect assesssment and related factorson cognitive function in the Elderly. Methods: Korean version of MMSE-K was tested for 40normal in the Elderly in July 15-20 2000. Their ages were 65 or more in years. Results: Age, sex, marriage and education had significant effects on the MMSE-K scores(P<.05). MMSE-K as follow definite dementia$(\geq24)$ is 47.5%, definite non-dementia$(\leq19)$ is 40.0%, and questionable dementia(20-23) is 12.5% in distributions for cognitive function, respectively. Conclusions: Results indicated that age is increased and female at onset had high cognitive functions.
In many cases the systems are so complex that it is not possible to obtain reasonable models using physical laws. Also a model based on physical laws contains a number of unknown parameters even if the structure is derived from physical laws. These problems can be solved by system identification. In this paper, a nano stage system is selected as an example for system identification. The transfer functions of this system is derived by using state-space model structure based on input/output data through experiment.
In this paper, evolutionary multi-objective selection method of RBF networks structure is considered. The candidates of RBF network structure are encoded into the chromosomes in GAs. Then, they evolve toward Pareto-optimal front defined by several objective functions concerning with model accuracy and model complexity. An ensemble network constructed by such Pareto-optimal models is also considered in this paper. Some numerical simulation results indicate that the ensemble network is much robust for the case of existence of outliers or lack of data, than one selected in the sense of information criteria.

The purpose of this study was to validate the Korean version of the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) using Rasch analysis. The data was obtained from the assessments of 59 children with cerebral palsy in Korea and were applied to Rasch's rating scale model to estimate the difficulty and goodness-of-fit of each item. Rasch modeling helped us to identify 76 items from the original 88-item GMFM that form an unidimensional hierarchical scale to rearrange 76 items in order of difficulty. Reliability coefficients of the 88-item and 76-item GMFM were .99 and .99, respectively. In this preliminary report, the Korean version of GMFM seems to have significant validity and reliability. These results may be useful in assessment of gross motor functions in children with cerebral palsy.
The purposes of this study are to develop 'Squat Scoring Scale' and identify relationship between squatting score and flexibility of the lower extremity muscles such as quadriceps femoris and soleus in terms of relationship between squatting and functions of lower extremity. Subjects have normal gait patterns only with or without musculoskeletal problems of lower extremities, lumbar and pelvis and gender. There are sixty subjects who participated in this study. The scoring are checked after squatting posture according to 'Squat Scoring Scale', and measured ROM of the ankle dorsiflexion and knee flexion for flexibility of the soleus and quadriceps femoris, respectively. Fourteen of sixty subjects have 10 score, seventeen subjects have 9 score, seven subjects have 8, 7 and 6 scores, three subjects have 5 score, and five subjects have 4 score. The gap between 10 to 9, 9 to 8 and 8 to 7 score in all values of angles has the statistical significance for t-test(p<.05). This information indicates that flexibility of quadriceps femoris and soleus acts as important factors in squatting.
