As computing environments are more rapidly developed, an adaptive and intelligent services using post PC such as PDA. Laptop, and Tablet PC in case of rounding and examining patients are highly demanded. The objective of this study is to design and implement a context-awareness support system based on voice service for medical environments. To achieve it, we propose a context middleware which plays an important role in recognizing a client with PDA by using a Bluetooth wireless communication technology as well as in executing an appropriate execution module, like delivery for diagnosis information of patients, according to the staff's context acquired from a context server. In addition, the context server functions as a manager that efficiently stores context information such as client's current status, physical environment, and device resources into a database server. Finally, for verifying the usefulness of the proposed system, we develop an application system which provides voice playing services for notification of other physicians through our context middleware.
When designing a ship, ergonomic considerations are crucial when minimizing a navigator's fatigue due to the burden of work, and to appropriately operate the navigational equipment for each given situation by helping the operator to understand the surroundings as well as the physical functions of the ship. However, insufficient consideration of ergonomic elements in the actual design of ship Bridges is lowering the performance of safe navigation and allows for the possibility of operation or readout errors. Consequently, these errors lead to an increase in maritime accidents. Therefore, this study conducted a usability evaluation on the importance of and the usage frequency of navigational equipment, their influence on actual navigation, and the possibility of error upon operation or readout between training ship officers, to derive an optimized layout that includes the consideration of ergonomic factors for on-Bridge navigational equipment, which are currently arranged differently according to their type or size. The optimized layout of on-Bridge navigational equipment was carried out based on the evaluation results, using the Lingo program. Through the process of optimization, revised layouts of on-Bridge navigational equipments(control and display device) were suggested, considering emergency situations(ship collision, stranding, fire and explosion, sinking, etc.) during navigation.
These days mobile phone which were used mainly by grown-up persons are now widely used among children as well due to new social demands. Despite this trend, existing mobile phones are still being designed and produced according to the taste of people in their 20s and 30s, even the elderly, not satisfying physical, emotional and cognitive characteristics raised by children. This study aimed to extract the design factors of mobile phones for children by reflecting functional factors requested by children and parents in QFD's customer demands. First, functional and design factors requested in mobile phones for children were extracted from existing products and documentary records and some functional factors were selected through a process of integration and omission. The survey research was conducted on children and parents, based on the selected functional factors. Based on the survey research, functional factors were analyzed using AHP, and key functional factors considered by children and parents in mobile phones for children were investigated. Finally, in order to reflect the results in QFD, the correlation between functional factors and design factors was constructed as HOQ through experts' evaluation. The results showed that both children and parents recognized the basic functions such as telephoning, text messaging and phone directory as high priority functional factors, even though the relative importance was different between children and parents. Therefore, it is likely to satisfy the desires of both children and parents by designing mobile phones for children in consideration of design factors such as menu depth, button independence and button arrangement. It is expected that this study will promote experiments on design factors and propose basic data for and guidelines to mobile phone design for children.
This study was a quasi-experimental study of nonequivalent control group pretest- posttest design to investigate the effect of aerobic walking exercise program on the physical & psychological functions of home stayed stroke patients. The data were collected during the period of May 20th to August 15th, 2001. The subjects for this study were 40 hemiplegic stroke patients with the experimental group consisting of 19 patients and the control group being composed of 21 patients. The patients selected for this study were: (a)living in J city who had been diagnosed with stroke and at home after being discharged from the hospital, (b)suffering from stroke for 6 months to 5 years, (c)without recognition disorder with the MMSE-K score above 25, (d)below 2 on the modified Ashworth scale, (e)free from heart and pulmonary disease (f)able to walk beyond 15 minutes for themselves. The aerobic walking exercise program for the experimental group was aerobic exercise and education and supportive care. The aerobic exercise was 8 weeks' period, three times a week, 35 to 50 minutes a day. And the education and supportive care was consisted of one home visiting and 2 times telephoning a week. The data were analysed by $X^2$-test, paired t-test and unpaired t-test and ANCOVA through SAS/PC program. The results of the study were as follows: 1. There was insignificant difference in the gait length experimental and control group. There was significant difference in the gait speed between the two groups. 2. There was significant difference in the dynamic valance between the two groups. 3. There was significant difference in ADL score between the two groups. 4. There was no significant difference in the depression between the two groups. As shown above, the results of 8 weeks' the aerobic walking exercise program for home stayed stroke patients produced positive effects on gait speed, dynamic valance, ADL score. And this program was expected that it was more effective in different intervention period, verified program. Also it was needed follow study.

Basic experiments were carried out using the THT-IV low-power Hall thruster to examine the influences of magnetic field shape and strength, and acceleration channel length on thruster performance and to establish guidelines for design of high-performance Hall thrusters. Thrusts were measured with varying magnetic field and channel structure. Exhaust plasma diagnostic measurement was also made to evaluate plume divergent angles and voltage utilization efficiencies. Ion current spatial profiles were measured with a Faraday cup, and ion energy distribution functions were estimated from data with a retarding potential analyzer. The thruster was stably operated with a highest performance under an optimum acceleration channel length of 20 mm and an optimum magnetic field with a maximum strength of about 150 Gauss near the channel exit and with some shape considering ion acceleration directions. Accordingly, an optimum magnetic field and channel structure is considered to exist under an operational condition, related to inner physical phenomena of plasma production, ion acceleration and exhaust plasma feature. A new Hall thruster was designed with basic research data of the THT-IV thruster. With the thruster with many considerations, long stable operations were achieved. In all experiments at 200-400 V with 1.5-3 mg/s, the thrust and the specific impulse ranged from 15 to 70 mN and from 1100 to 2300 see, respectively, in a low electric power range of 300~1300 W. The thrust efficiency reached 55 %. Hence, a large map of the thruster performance was successfully made. The thermal characteristics were also examined with data of both measured and calculated temperatures in the thruster body. Thermally safe conditions were achieved with all input powers.
The incoherent neutron scattering cross section of molecular liquids is analyzed using a damping function model for correlation functions of molecular translations and rotations. The present approach is different from recent works in that the scattering function is evaluated directly, not through the intermediate scattering function. The damping fuction is determined from a simple relation between its long-wavelength limit and the generalized frequency distribution function, and translation-rotation couplings are assumed to be neglected. A physical model is used for the translational motions of center-of-mass of a molecule, including properly its short-time and long-time behaviors. A simple model for the rotational motions is suggested which relates the damping function to the Fourier transform of the dipole correlation function, or equivalently, the infrared vibrational absorption spectrum. Theoretical absolute scattering intensities are computed for liquid methane and shown to be in satisfactory agreement with both thermal and cold neutron measurements.
With rapid economic growth, the urban environment has created a problem of human physical and mental illness. In order to solve these problems, urban forests have emerged as a way to mitigate the environmental risks through improving the polluted environment of the city and improve the quality of life. As the urban forests have expanded, the school forests movement has also been taking an important place recently. The study focused on the performance of school forests by comparing the perceptions among teachers and students about their functions. The questionnaire was composed of 4 questions concerning human matters, 10 questions for space recognition, 4 questions for thermal environment, 2 questions for health promotion, and 20 total questions for composition of survey items. The reliability of the school forest function, number of tree planting areas and quantities, the harmony of the planting, and the satisfaction of the school forest were analyzed in the questionnaire conducted by the school members. Although it does not recognize school forests, it has a positive response to the green space that is built outdoors. It is considered that outdoor education and environmental education are sufficient in school forests and green spaces. The results showed that the outdoor green space was more satisfactory when compared with the general school. Teachers and students' preferences were similar to 'seasonal changes' and' trees of various colors and shapes'. The reliability analysis between each item shows that the coefficient for cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .700 to .834. The purpose of this study is to identify the perception of forest function among school forest members and to utilize them as a basic data in the future.
This paper proposes a real-time simulation technique for thin shells undergoing large deformation. Shells are thin objects such as leaves and papers that can be abstracted as 2D structures. Development of a satisfactory physical model that runs in real-time but produces visually convincing animation of thin shells has been remaining a challenge in computer graphics. Rather than resorting to shell theory which involves the most complex formulations in continuum mechanics, we adopt the energy functions from the discrete shells proposed by Grinspun et al. For real-time integration of the governing equation, we develop a modal warping technique for shells. This new simulation framework results from making extensions to the original modal warping technique which was developed for the simulation of 3D solids. We report experimental results, which show that the proposed method runs in real-time even for large meshes, and that it can simulate large bending and/or twisting deformations with acceptable realism.

The aging of the population has been in process all over the world including most of advanced countries. With the improvement of living standards and medical technology due to the growth and development of the modern industrial society, the continuous Increase of the average lifespan has led to an abrupt growth in the population ratio of the aged. The senescence is the period where both physical and mental functions get dwindled, and due to a loss of roles in a society and a weakened social bond, the elderly people feel often neglected and isolated. Consequently, the elderly people spend a lot of time in their houses. As this means that the elderly gets higher possibility to stay within housing units and housing complex environment, residents' public space needs to be developed within the housing complex for them. Therefore, constructive programs and plans are required for the elderly who experience distance constraint because of corporal aging, for them to sustain community activities within their housing environment. Contrary to them in the 20th century, the elderly living in the nowadays informational society tend to enjoy their leisure times with arts and cultures and underscore the significance of social exchange under diverse possibility and sustainableness. Thus, it is important to preserve those circumstances to provide continuously them. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to grope a growth direction of residents' public space for the elderly to include them to their community through a socially integrated way by grasping present condition of apartment residents' public space's facilities and to be used practically as a basic housing environment data to raise quality of community life.

The purpose of this study was to analyze relating with Faucult's disciplinary power which factors influence a dancer's self-management (weight control)Total 10 ballet major undergraduate students of two respective universities in Seoul and Daijon were selected for the research and the chosen method was an interview with them. After the researchers analyzed the interview result, they found out the following several significant results. The first reason that major ballet dancers control their weight is to show their beautiful figures on the stage and to make their appearances look slender in the mirror. Dancers adapt various methods for effective weight management (diet control) such as dietary control, 1 food intake (potatoes, bananas, grapes, etc), physical force to advise or ingest (injection, taking medicines, reflexology, vomiting, etc.) Then, what is the hidden vision that makes such a practice of weight control maintain? The study presents a "mirror" as a tool of control playing a significant role, in terms that the power of discipline functions automatically in a dancer's body. In addition, another constant factor of dancers' weight management is monitoring each other's performance continuously, which is called "synopticon" Symptoms. Lastly, the fact that a question about placing a ruler could function in the continuous practice was also revealed.
