The Design of an Intelligent Assembly Robot System for Lens Modules of Phone Camera.

  • The camera cellular phone has a large portion of cellular phone market in recent year. The variety of a customer demand makes a fast model change and the spatial resolution is changed from VGA to multi-mega pixel. The 1.3 mega pixel (MP) camera cellular phone was first released into the Korean market in October 2003. The major cellular phone companies released a 2MP camera cellular phone that supports zoom function and a 2MP camera cellular phone is settled down with the Korea cellular phone market. It makes a keen competition in price and demands automation for phone camera module. There is an increasing requirement for the automatic assembly to correspond to a fast model change. The hard automation techniques that rely on dedicated manufacturing system are too inflexible to meet this requirement. Therefore in this study, this system is designed with the flexibility concept in order to cope with phone camera module change. The system has a same platform that has X-Y-Z motion or X-Z motion with ${\mu}m$order accuracy. It has a special gripper according to the type of a component to be put together. If the camera model changes, the gripper may be updated to fit for the camera module. The controller of this system acquires the data sets that have the information about the assembly part by the tray. This information is obtained ahead of an inspection step. The controller excludes an inferior part to be assembled by using this information to diminish the inferior goods. The assembly jig used in this system has a function of self adjustment that reduces the tact time and also diminish the inferior goods. Finally, the intelligent assembly system for phone camera module will be designed to get a flexibility to meet model change and a high productivity with a high reliability.

  • In the past, a mobile phone had only a function of communication. Recently, new functions such as an mp3 player and a camera are added in a mobile phone. For the application of a camera module to a mobile phone, the size of the camera module needs to become smaller than a general Digital Camera. Furthermore, it is also required that the performance of the camera module in a mobile phone be the same as that of a Digital Camera. In order to fulfill these requirements, the camera module should have functions such as Auto Focus, Zoom, the shutter and the aperture. Therefore, we introduce a simple and effective actuator and propose the shutter composed of solenoid.

피사체 계측을 위한 스마트 폰 카메라 모듈 특성 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Smart Phone Camera Module for Measuring a Shooting Object)

  • 스마트 폰 어플의 급속한 개발과 보급으로 우리는 일상생활에서 많은 유용한 모바일 서비스를 이용하는 것이 가능하게 되었으며, 특히 스마트 기기의 카메라 모듈을 이용한 QR 코드 응용과 같은 흥미로운 어플들이 지속적으로 개발되고 있다. 우리는 스마트 기기의 카메라 모듈을 이용하여 촬영되는 피사체의 실물 크기를 측정하는 어플을 개발하는 과정에서 국내에 시판되는 안드로이드 기반 스마트 폰들의 기종이나 시스템 버전에 따라 촬영되는 피사체의 이미지의 크기나 모양이 매우 상이하게 나타난다는 점을 알게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 기기들의 카메라 모듈로 촬영할 때 스마트 폰 기종과 시스템 버전에 따라 나타나는 차이점들을 면밀히 알아보고, 스마트 폰 카메라로 촬영한 결과 영상에서 피사체의 실물 크기에 영향을 미치는 카메라 모듈의 다양한 특징들을 비교 분석하여, 이를 바탕으로 스마트 폰 카메라 모듈을 이용한 피사체 크기 계측 어플을 개발하는데 응용하고자 한다.

  • Optical properties in injection molded plastic lenses for mobile phone camera have been simulated using commercial program, 3D TIMON. Four plastic lenses are being used in mobile phone camera. The quality of photographs taken by mobile phone camera is strongly depends upon optical characteristics of lenses. The variety of optical properties has been investigated according to the injection conditions through the computer simulation. Consequently optimal injection conditions for four lenses have been determined and simulation results of birefringence have been compared with experiments.

Development of Compact Auto Focus Actuator for Camera Phone by Applying New Electromagnetic Configuration

  • In this paper, auto focus actuator, which is used to move a lens module in the mobile phone having a camera module, is developed. Camera module containing auto focus actuator requires to minimize total size because of characteristics of the application area such as mobile phone, digital camera, and personal digital assistant. There are stepping motor, voice coil motor, and piezoelectric motor as auto focus actuator. In this paper, voice coil motor having new electromagnetic configuration is proposed. And actuator using proposed voice coil motor is developed by optimal design method using magnetic circuit analysis. The sectional area of the developed actuator is reduced to 32.4% compared with actuator using general electromagnetic configuration. From the performance test, the developed actuator has moving stroke of 0.64 mm for 2.1 volt, hysteresis of 40 $\mu$m, full stroke current of 54 mA, and unit step motion of 3 $\mu$m.

네트워크 카메라의 움직이는 물체 감지를 위한 스마트폰 기반 영상처리 방법 (Smart Phone Based Image Processing Methods for Motion Detection of a Moving Object via a Network Camera)

  • In this work, new smart phone based moving target detection is proposed. In order to implement the task, methods of real time image transmission from network camera, motion detecting algorithm and its effective implementation are also addressed. The network camera transfers image data by MJPEG format which contains various information such as data and IP address, and the smart phone separates the image data received through a WiFi module. Later, the image data is converted to a Bitmap image format, and with the help of the embedded OpenCV library on a smart phone and algorithm, it was found that the moving object was identified effectively in terms of real time monitoring and detection.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기업체의 임직원이나 협력사 직원들이 스마트폰 카메라를 이용해 기업의 제품 도면이나 기밀유지가 보장되어야 하는 제품 개발 시 진행되었던 업무 내용이 저장된 문서 등을 스마트폰 카메라로 촬영하여 외부로 유출하는 것을 사전에 차단하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 허가된 사용자에 대한 사진 촬영과 기업체 내부에서만 촬영된 데이터를 공유할 수 있게 하는 인원 출입 권한과 연계한 스마트폰 카메라 제어시스템을 제안한다. 이를 위해 기업체에 상주하는 임직원, 협력사 직원들과 방문객들의 스마트폰 제어 프로그램(MCS : Mobile Camera Control System) 대한 설치현황을 개발하여 출입이 허가된 지역에서 설치된 스마트폰 제어 프로그램 작동여부를 실험 및 분석한다. 또한, 방문객들이 기업체 방문 시 스마트폰 카메라를 통한 사진 촬영의 방지효과와 스마트폰 카메라 렌즈부분에 부착하는 봉인 스티커 비용의 절감효과가 나타났다.

  • The purposes of this study were to explain consumer attitude, expenses and satisfaction of mobile-phone Users. The data of this study used from Pollever.com. This study was satisfaction of mobile-phone users in Korea. The users were consumers of Samsung, LG, SK-Telecom and Pantack. The critical success factor was on the subside for mobile-phone in the growth of mobile service, which we can analyze in its positive effects. Fifty percent of consumers were unsatisfaction with local companies without Samsung. Now most of local mobile-companies will developed music-phone, high-tec camera-phone, hi-slim phone, and health-phone. But, the results of this study are as fallow: Most of consumer' main issues were design, weight, and brand power. It was in that it played the driving force to upgrade the local mobile-phone services into international level with the explosive growth in business by providing cheap phones.

모바일 폰 카메라 패키지의 다이 본딩 에폭시가 Warpage와 광학성능에 미치는 영향 분석 (Effect of Die Bonding Epoxy on the Warpage and Optical Performance of Mobile Phone Camera Packages)

  • The warpage on mobile phone camera packages occurs due to the CTE(Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) mismatch between a thin silicon die and a substrate. The warpage in the optical instruments such as camera module has an effect on the field curvature, which is one of the factors degrading the optical performance and the product yield. In this paper, we studied the effect of die bonding epoxy on the package and optical performance of mobile phone camera packages. We calculated the warpages of camera module packages by using a finite element analysis, and their shapes were in good agreement showing parabolic curvature. We also measured the warpages and through-focus MTF of camera module specimens with experiments. The warpage was improved on an epoxy with low elastic modulus at both finite element analysis and experiment results, and the MTF performance increased accordingly. The results show that die bonding epoxy affects the warpage generated on the image sensor during the packaging process, and this warpage eventually affects the optical performance associated with the field curvature.

  • A lens system for mobile phone cameras is comprised of various lenses and designed so as to satisfy design requirements for responses such as a modular transfer function (MTF). However, it is difficult to manufacture and assemble camera modules to maintain the same performance compared with the designed camera modules, because of uncertainty. We should always design a lens system by considering uncertainty that can be caused by errors in the manufacturing and assembly process of mobile phone cameras. The robust optimization offers tools of making robust decisions with the consideration of design parameters, uncontrollable parameters, and the variance of the system. Using an efficient reliability analysis method and an optimization algorithm, we obtained robust optimization results that maximize the mean of MTF and minimize the standard deviation and proposed a new robust design process for a lens system.
