Development and Evaluation of the Family Relations Enhancement Program - Applied to Rural Women in Gyeonggi do - (가족관계 증진 프로그램 개발 및 효과검증 - 경기지역 농촌여성을 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the program which aims at providing a better understanding of family role, establishing a desirable value of being good spouse and good parent, and good daughter/mother in-law and determine effects of the program on rural women in Gyeonggi do. Based on the strong & healthy family perspective, personality types theory, coping stress theory, anger control method, communication & conflict solution theory(eg; Minnesota Couple Communication Program), cognitive behavior theory, and relations enrichment theory, 6 session program was developed. The title of 6 sessions were 'Making happy family', 'Family communication', 'Coping parent-child relation stress', 'Coping conjugal personality difference', 'Becoming a good mother/daughter in-law', and 'Dissolving family conflict'. 188 women surveyed were asked to participate in the program held at 5 city located in Gyeonggi do from Jun. 22 to July, 15. 2005, with two days(3 session a day and 120 minutes per session based). The effectiveness of this program was evaluated by pre-test, post test through 188 rural women and it was analyzed by paired t-test and program evaluation questionnaire was also investigated. The major results were as follows: This program was effective in improving spouse relation satisfaction, child relation satisfaction, daughter/mother in-law relation satisfaction, their effort for making happy family, self-esteem, and depression tendency. Future research and practical implications were added.

Ways of Coping and Health-Related Hardiness in University Students (대학생의 스트레스 대처방식과 강인성)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to explain the relationship between ways of coping and health-related hardiness in university students at G city. Method: The participants were a convenience sample of 250 students. The data were collected by a questionnaire given to the students between June 1 to June 10, 2006. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: The most frequently used method of coping was pursuit of social support. The mean score for level of health-related hardiness was $3.34{\pm}0.55$. There were significant differences in ways of coping according to satisfaction with college life (F=4.036, p=.008). There were significant differences in health-related hardiness according to smoking or not (F=6.237, p=.002). There were positive correlation between problem focused coping and hardiness (r=.357, p=.000), between social support and hardiness (r=.345, p=.000), between hope seeking thought and hardiness (r=.247, p=.000). In regression analysis, ways of coping was significantly influenced by hardiness(16.6%). Conclusion: The results suggest that programs for strengthening hardiness can be considered as significant nursing interventions for helping university students cope with stress.

Stress, Stress Coping Methods, and College Adjustment according to Behavioral Styles in Freshman Nursing Students (간호대학 신입생의 행동유형에 따른 스트레스, 스트레스 대처방식 및 대학생활적응과의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe stress levels, stress coping methods, and college adjustment according to behavior styles in freshman nursing students. Methods: Data were collected through a structured questionnaire targeting general characteristics, behavior styles, stress levels, stress coping methods, and college adjustment, and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-tests, and Pearson correlation using the SPSS program. Results: Stress was related to perceived physical health status, satisfaction with school life, and behavior style. Problem-focused coping was related to exercise, satisfaction with school life, and behavior style. College adjustment was related to place of residence, personality, perceived physical health status, motivation for entrance, and satisfaction with school life. College adjustment had significant positive correlations with stress and problem-focused coping. The relationship between college adjustment and hopeful-thought coping had a significantly negative correlation. Conclusion: These results suggest that identifying the effects of self-understanding programs on stress management and college adjustment is required.

A Study on the Coping Strategy for Job Stress from the Personality Type of Security Agents (시큐리티 요원의 성격특성이 직무스트레스 및 대처방식에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is an attempt to introduce an effective human resource management way by analyzing the relationship of personality type of Security Agents and coping strategy for job stress and the job satisfaction. To achieve this purpose, this study surveyed users of the Gyeonggi and Chungnam in based on cluster sampling method. A total of 283 samples were used for this study, except 17 erroneous samples dropped. For the data process of the questionnaire, each answer content was coded and an element analysis, credibility analysis, frequency analysis, co-relationship analysis and regression analysis were performed using the SPSS version 18.0 of Angel for Windows. Through the data analysis following the research methods above, the conclusion was acquired as follows: First, the nature of the security personnel Factors affecting job stress. Second, the nature of the security personnel Factors affect coping behavior.

  • This study investigates how the five personality factors affect job-related stress levels owing to various causes and stress coping strategies in university students studying health-related majors, including dental hygiene. In subfactors for stress coping strategies (1) 'extrovert', 'likeable', and 'diligent' types for 'desire for social support' (2) 'diligent', 'extrovert,' 'likeable', and 'extrovert' types for 'problem-oriented' and (3) 'nervous,' and 'diligent' types for 'avoidance-oriented,' were shown to be most affected, in that order(SCi = ${\beta}0$ + ${\beta}1$ Neuroticism + ${\beta}2$ Extraversion + ${\beta}3$ Openness to Experience + ${\beta}4$ Agreeableness + ${\beta}5$ Conscienti- ousness + ei ).

Differences in Ego-Resiliency between Children's Personality Types (MMTIC에 의한 성격유형과 자아탄력성과의 관계)

  • The study was designed to lay the ground for effective guidance toward adaptive coping behavior by finding out differences in ego-resiliency in terms of personality types in the Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children(MMTIC). For the study, personality types and ego-resiliency of 180 fifth- and sixth-grade students from 3 elementary schools located in Busan were measured. The instrument for personality types was MMTIC, which was developed by Meisgeier and Murphy in the US in 1990 and standardized in Korea in 1993 by Jungtaek Kim and Hyesook Shim. In order to measure Ego-Resiliency, Block & Kremen(1996)'s Ego-Resiliency scale translated and remodified by Sungkyung Yoo(2004) was used. The collected data were analyzed using ANOVA. The study found the followings: Firstly, according to the children's preference for personality types, participants' ego-resiliency scores appeared significantly higher in 'Extraversion', 'iNtuition', and 'Feeling' than in 'Introversion', 'Sensing', and 'Thinking' respectively. There was no significant difference in the score between in 'Judging' and 'Perceiving'. Secondly, according to function types of MMTIC, the participants' ego-resiliency score in 'iNtuition-Feeling' type showed the highest among scores in the other three types. The score in 'iNtuition-Feeling' type was significantly higher than 'Sensing-Thinking', 'Sensing-Feeling', and 'iNtuition-Thinking' type respectively.

Effect of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI) Personality Type, Emotional Intelligence, Sress Coping Strategies on Nursing student's Adjustment to College Life (간호대학생의 MBTI성격유형, 감성지능, 스트레스 대처방식이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the MBTI personality type, emotional intelligence, and stress coping strategies of nursing students and to examine the influence of these factors on their level of college adjustment.The subjects were 267 nursing students who are located in Chonnam city. The survey was conducted from March 6th to March 31st, 2017. The level of college adjustment showed a close correlation with the emotional intelligence(r=.29, p<.001) and stress coping strategies(r=.27, p<.001), and the level of MBTI personality type was not statistically insignificant in the nursing students. It was found that the effect of the emotional intelligence and stress coping strategies on the college life adjustment was 17.5%(F=8.03, p<.001). According to the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a systematic management program to integrate the educational curriculum and extra-curricular activities(in order to enhance the) emotional intelligence and stress coping strategies in nursing students. In addition, the type of psychological function and psychological temperament of the MBTI personality type were found not to have influenced the level of college adaptation of the nursing students and this should be confirmedin a large scale sample.

The Complex relationship between employment stress and avoidance coping styles for college students (대학생들의 취업스트레스와 회피대처방식의 융복합적인 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between job stress and coping style in college students. Participants were 314 students in a college. Data were collected using a self administered questionnaire. The survey was conducted from May 02, 2018 to May 28, 2018. There were statistically significant correlations between personality stress, family environmental stress, academic stress, school environment stress and emotion - centered coping style among sub - variables of job stress, Job anxiety stress was significantly correlated with social support seeking and emotion - centered coping style. Since college students' emotional stress coping style is related to depressive emotional and physical health problems, it is necessary to provide a psychological treatment program for early detection and coping with psychological support services, and a mixed service such as education, lecture, and camp. In addition, it is thought that strategic action skill training (plan, method, and technology) is needed to change from emotion - centered coping style to problem - solving style.

  • The organization of business included many a factors that gave rise to the stress. The modem peoples in this organization lived in the flood of the stress. Job stress was an important factors which injured of the employee health, the employee health injured reduce the organizational function. The factors such as personal differences, stressors, personality, cognitive traits etc. should be considered in the study of job stress. The cognitive appraisal is an important factor in the study of job stress and a process of coping strategy. Job stress can be controlled and coped by organizational and personal ability. The coping strategy of job stress is also determined by the personal differences rather than by the intensity of stress symptoms. In copying the stress, to be considered the factors such as interpersonal correlation, organizational climate, career development, job redesign, selection and placement, training. However, these factors should be managed in the scientific, objective, reasonable manner effectively.
