  • The effects of intake port eccentricity and a partition between the two intake ports on the incylinder swirl characteristics in a 4 valve diesel engine having the two intake ports, one is a helical intake port and the other is a tangential intake port, were investigated by using the impulse swirl meter(ISM) in a steady flow test rig. Mean flow coefficient ( $C_{f(mean)}$, swirl ratio ( $R_{s}$) and the mass flowrate through the two intake ports with and without intake port partition were measured. The results showed that the characteristics of in-cylinder swirl ratio formed by a 4-valve cylinder head were largely affected by valve eccentricity ratio ( $N_{y}$) and the existence of an intake port partition between the two intake ports. Mean flow coefficient ( $C_{f(mean)}$) increases and swirl ratio ( $R_{s}$) decreases in case of being the partition between the two intake ports. And also the mass flowrate through the tangential intake port is 19.0% and 7.7% more than that of the helical intake port in case of the two intake ports with and without partition respectively.ively.

  • The relationship between BAC(Blood Alcohol Concentrations) and BrACs(Breath Alcohol Concentrations) and also partition ratio of healthy Korean adult males (96 males) are researched in this paper and its dependency is described according to TBW (total body water), BMI (body mass index), BFM (body fat mass), and PBF (percentage of body fat). Among the above four variables, TBW affects significantly to the partition ratio compared to the other variables. The partition ratio of Korean healthy males showed 1,913 (95 % Confidence Interval (C.I.) from 1,889 to 1,937) for the whole time intervals. However, when Q was averaged after 60 minutes later, its values was 2,011 (95 % C.I. from 1,982 to 2,040). Bland-Altman plots showed the compatibility of measurement methods of multi-gas analyzer, and the biases according to the partition ratios (Q=2,100 and Q=1,913) gave -0.0052 % (95 % CI from -0.0059 to -0.0045%) and -0.0004 % (95 % CI from -0.0011 to +0.0003%), respectively.

  • Extractive fermentations with the extract of Jerusalem artichoke in an aqueous-two-phase-system of polyethyleneglycol(PEG) and dextran(Dx) were investigated to obtain the effects of composition of PEG and Dx on both fermentation ,characteristics and partition ratio of alcohol. The specific growth rate of K. Fraglis CBS 1555 increased with a decrease of concentration of PEG and Dx. It augmented along with concentration of initial sugar up to 80g/l but decreased thereafter. The specific production rate of alcohol showed a rising tendency up to 100g/lof initial sugar, whereafter represented a decreasing trend. The partition ratio of alcohol between two phases augmented according to decrease of Dx comic. and increase of PEG cone. regardless of initial sugar concentrations. The ratio, however, decreased with Increment of initial sugar concentration at constant composition of PEG and Dx. The partition coefficient of alcohol had an ascending effect to the increase of PEG cone, but it had little effect on the changes of concentrations of Dx and initial sugar. The present study suggests that the optimum composition of PEG and Dx in the aqueous-two-phase-system by extractive fermentation were around 6.5%(w/v) of PEG and 3%(w/v) of Dx in considerations of emulsion state, sedimentation and separation of two phases, alcohol partition ratio, and specific growth rate.

  • In the polyethylene glycol/dextran aqueous two-phase systems, volume ratio was increased and partition coefficient was decreased with the increase of potyethylene glycol molecular weight and concentration. However the volume ratio was decreased and the partition coefficient was increased with the increase of dextran molecular weight. On the other hand, the volume ratio and the partition coefficient were decreased with the increase of dextran concentration. Continuous enzymatic hydrolysis of soluble starch with $\alpha$-amylase which was produced by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IF0 14141 was investigated in polyethylene glycol/dextran aqueous two-phase systems. Nonreacted soluble starch and $\alpha$-amylase were reused in these systems. $\alpha$-Amylase activity was maintained more than 100 hrs by recycling of $\alpha$-amylase from bottom of settler to reactor.

  • The double diffusive convection of cold water in the vicinity of its density maximum in a rectangular partitioned enclosure of aspect ratio 5 with isothermal side walls and insulated top and bottom is studied numerically. A thin partition is attached to the hot wall. The species diffusivity of the fluid is assumed to vary linearly with concentration. The governing equations are solved by finite difference scheme. The effects of position and height of the partition, variable species diffusivity and enclosure width are analyzed for various hot wall temperatures. It has been found that adding partition on the hot wall reduces the heat transfer. The density inversion of the water has a great influence on the natural convection. When increasing species diffusivity parameter heat and mass transfer rate is decreased.

  • The partition behavior or proteins in an aqueous two-phase system of poly (ethyleneglycol)-potassium phosphate buffer (PEG/PPB) was investigated. The proteins of different surface hydrophobicity, i.e. Bovine serum albumin (BSA), ${\beta}-lactoglobulin$, ovalbumin. moved to the PPB-rich bottom phase in a PEG(12%)/PPB (12%) two-phase system resulting in very low partition coefficients. When the concentration of PPB increased to 15% level. the electric potential of bottom phase changed from +50 mV to zero and the partition coefficient tended to increase. The change In the molar ratio of $K_2HPO_4/KH_2PO_4$ in PPB from 1.43 to 9.55 caused the volume ratio of top to bottom phase $(V_t/V_b)$ to be decreased and protein partition coefficient increased. When the concentration of PPB was elevated from 14% to 26%, the $V_t/V_b$ decreased from 1.5 to 0.39 and the partition coefficient of proteins increased drastically; ${\beta}-lactoglobulin$ 74 fold. BSA 32 fold, ovalbumin 12 fold and lysozyme 5 fold.

  • Recently, the discussion about division and partition of fraction increases in Korea's national curriculum documents. There are varieties of assertions arranging from the opinion that both interpretations are unintelligible to the opinion that both interpretations are intelligible. In this paper, we investigated a possibility that division and partition interpretation of fraction become valid. As a result, it is appeared that division and partition interpretation of fraction can be defined reasonably through expansion of interpretation of natural number. Besides, division and partition interpretation of fraction can be work in activity, such as constructing equation from sentence problem, or such as proving algorithm of fraction division.

  • Recently, dynamic proxy caching has been proposed on the distributed environment so that media objects by user's requests can be served directly from the proxy without contacting the server. However, it makes caching challenging due to multimedia large sizes, low latency and continuous streaming demands of media objects. To solve the problems caused by streaming demands of media objects, this paper has been proposed the grouping scheme with fuzzy filtering based on partition and mapping. For partition and mapping, this paper divides media block segments into fixed partition reference block(R$_f$P) and variable partition reference block(R$_v$P). For semantic relationship, it makes fuzzy relationship to performs according to the fixed partition temporal synchronization(T$_f$) and variable partition temporal synchronization(T$_v$). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme makes streaming service efficiently with a high average request response time rate and cache hit rate and with a low delayed startup ratio compared with other schemes.

  • A theoretical study by numerical method has been performed on the natural convection of an air contained in enclosures. The enclosures have rectangular cross section with one vertical wall heated and the other cooled, and with two horizontal partition plates of finite thermal conductivity. Steady two-dimensional flow was assumed. The computation was executed by means of the Implicit Alternating Direction (I.A.D) finite-difference method. Two partition plates of Aluminium whose thickness were 0.05mm was employed in computation. Isothemals, streamlines, local Nusselt numbers and mean Nusselt numbers were obtained for various Grashof numbers and aspect ratio and these results were compared with those in the case of the enclosure with two horizontal insulated plates. From the present results, the heat transfer in the case of partition plates was greater than that in the case of insulation. This study suggests a method to measure the overall heat-transfer of coefficient in double walls which supported by partition plates for insulative construction.

  • Fractional melting process involves heating an alloy within its liquid-solid region simultaneously ejecting liquid from the solid-liquid mixture. The extent of the purification obtained is comparable to that obtained in multi-pass zone refining. The new fractional melting process in which centrifugal force was used for separating the liquid from the mixture has been developed and applied to the purification of the metallic grade. Refining ratio depends on partition ratio, cake wetness and diffusion in the solid, and it was controlled by various processing parameters such as rotating speed and heating rate. The new parameter called "refining partition coefficient" has been suggested to estimate the effects of processing variables on the refining ratio. Because major impurities in MG-silicon such as Fe, Al, Ni have a low segregation coefficient, good purification effect is expected. The results of refining MG-silicon(98%) showed that 3N-Si was obtained in refined solid of 50% of the original sample.
