This work has improved the method of Kim and Gal's (6) in that of requiring less response of the DM(decision maker) and ease of reply. The underlying notion is the MCDC(maximally changeable dominance cone) for describing all efficient solutions under the particular preference structure. According to the DM's partial preference expression, enlarging the MCDC is achieved, which results in reducing the solutions needed to take into consideration. The cone generators corresponding to the DM's response are added to the MCDC, which results the MCDC is enlarged. Adopting the scheme of pairwise comparison as a means of acquiring preference attitude, an improved interactive method is proposed. And also, a scheme of choosing a reference point is suggested to achieve the computational efficiency.
This paper proposes a skewed multivariate probit model for analyzing a correlated binary response data with covariates. The proposed model is formulated by introducing an asymmetric link based upon a skewed multivariate normal distribution. The model connected to the asymmetric multivariate link, allows for flexible modeling of the correlation structure among binary responses and straightforward interpretation of the parameters. However, complex likelihood function of the model prevents us from fitting and analyzing the model analytically. Simulation-based Bayesian inference methodologies are provided to overcome the problem. We examine the suggested methods through two data sets in order to demonstrate their performances.
Two-Dimensional modelling of the Cochlear biomechanics is presented in this paper. The Laplace partial differential equation which represents the fluid mechanics of the Cochlea has been transformed into two-dimensional electrical transmission line. The procedure of this transformation is explained in detail. The comparison between one and two dimensional models is also presented. This electrical modelling of the basilar membrane (BM) is clearly useful for the next approach to the further. Development of active elements which are essential in the producing of the sharp tuning of the BM. This paper shows that two-dimension model is qualitatively better than one-dimensional model both in amplitude and phase responses of the BM displacement. The present model is only for frequency response. However because the model is electrical, the two-dimensional transmission line model can be extended to time response without any difficult.
A lot of recent researches have shown that a Pseudo Random Binary Signal is a quite effective test signal to measure the impulse response of a plant. Generally speaking, however, such a response itself is not satisfactory to determine the appropriate control parameters or control inputs. Here, the author intends to estimate the unknown parameters of the First Order Plant with Dead Time by means of correlation method using M-sequence signal. The time constant T and the dead time L of the plant are eatimated with one tracking loop by automatically adjusting delay time .tau. of M-sequence signal according to variations of T and L. In this paper, a three level M-sequence signal is used as a test signal in order to avoid troublesome operations to calculate partial derivatives of a given performance index with respect to the parameters which are usually required in the Model Method. Several experiments with analogue computer using low pass filters as averaging circuits showed good results as expected.
Vessels stability problems need to resolve the nonlinear mathematical models of rolling motion. For nonlinear systems subjected to random excitations, there are very few special cases can obtain the exact solutions. In this paper, the specific differential equations of rolling motion for intact ship considering the restoring and damping moment have researched firstly. Then the partial stochastic linearization method is applied to study the response statistics of nonlinear ship rolling motion in beam seas. The ship rolling nonlinear stochastic differential equation is then solved approximately by keeping the equivalent damping coefficient as a parameter and nonlinear response of the ship is determined in the frequency domain by a linear analysis method finally.
In this article, an analytical-numerical approach is presented in order to determine the dynamic response of thin plates resting on multiple elastic point supports with time-varying stiffness. The proposed method is essentially based on transforming a familiar governing partial differential equation into a new solvable system of linear ordinary differential equations. When dealing with time-invariant stiffness, the solution of this system of equations leads to a symmetric matrix, whose eigenvalues determine the natural frequencies of the point-supported plate. Moreover, this method proves to be applicable for any plate configuration with any type of boundary condition. The results, where possible, are verified upon comparison with available values in the literature, and excellent agreement is achieved.
A linear-prediction-based blind equalization algorithm for single-input single-output (SISO) finite impulse response/infinite impulse response (FIR/IIR) channels is proposed. The new algorithm is based on second-order statistics, and it does not require channel order estimation. By oversampling the channel output, the SISO channel model is converted to a special single-input multiple-output (SIMO) model. Two forward linear predictors with consecutive prediction delays are applied to the subchannel outputs of the SIMO model. It is demonstrated that the partial parameters of the SIMO model can be estimated from the difference between the prediction errors when the length of the predictors is sufficiently large. The sufficient filter length for achieving the optimal prediction is also derived. Based on the estimated parameters, both batch and adaptive minimum-mean-square-error equalizers are developed. The performance of the proposed equalizers is evaluated by computer simulations and compared with existing algorithms.

Most civil engineering structures, such as highway bridges, towers, power plants and offshore structures suffer structural damages over their service lives caused by adverse loading such as heavy transportation loads, machine vibrations, earthquakes, wind and wave forces. Especially, if excessive load would be acted on the structure, general or partial stiffness should be degraded suddenly and service lives should be shortened eventually For realistic damage assessment of these civil structures, System Identification method using only structure dynamic response data with unknown input excitation is required and thus becoming more challenging problem. In this paper, an improved Iterative Least Squares method is proposed, which seems to be very efficient and robust method, because only the dynamic response data such as acceleration, velocity and displacement is used without input data, and no information on the modal properties is required. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed method is proved by numerical problems and real single span beam model test.

In this study, it is demonstrated by a pseudo dynamic earthquake response tests that combination of semi-rigid partial-strength using the high performance-high strength bolts and inter-story hysteretic damper system creates a fairly good structural system that satisfies not only the serviceability requirement under moderate earthquakes but unexpected failure of damper system.
The non-linear static and dynamic response of doubly curved thin isotropic shells has been studied for the step and sinusoidal loadings. Dynamic analogues Von Karman-Donnel type shell equations are used. Clamped immovable and simply supported immovable boundary conditions are considered. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations of the shell are discretized in space and time domains using the harmonic differential quadrature (HDQ) and finite differences (FD) methods, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed HDQ-FD coupled methodology is demonstrated by the numerical examples. Numerical examples demonstrate the satisfactory accuracy, efficiency and versatility of the presented approach.
