As a result of post-verification, there were significant differences between heart type and belly type in coping behavior, strengthening marital cooperation, and pursuing social-emotional support, and heart type scored higher than belly type. When conducting interventions for families of disabled children, it will be possible to provide more effective services by predicting coping behaviors according to the personality type of mothers of disabled children and presenting individualized programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the social perception characteristics of young children with disabilities over the past decade. For this purpose, Textom, an Internet-based big data analysis system was used to collect data related to young children with disabilities posted on social media. 50 keywords were selected in the order of high frequency through the data cleaning process. For semantic network analysis, centrality analysis and CONCOR analysis were performed with UCINET6, and the analyzed data were visualized using NetDraw. As a result, the keywords such as 'education, needs, parents, and inclusion' ranked high in frequency, degree, and eigenvector centrality. In addition, the keywords of 'parent, teacher, problem, program, and counseling' ranked high in betweenness centrality. In CONCOR analysis, four clusters were formed centered on the keywords of 'disabilities, young child, diagnosis, and programs'. Based on these research results, the topics on social perception of young children with disabilities were investigated, and implications for each topic were discussed.

  • The number of people with disabilities is increasing recently in Korea, in particular the proportion of children with disabilities is approximately above 5%. While there are many studies focusing on satisfaction of payment policy due to increased concern about children with disabilities, the studies on comparison and the effect factor of user satisfaction depending on the cash and voucher are not sufficient. Based on the need to recognize and research this issue, the ultimate goal of this study is to lead to implications for the payment policy by investigating user satisfaction depending on the type of payment of policy on children with disabilities. The result that analyzes the effect of general characteristics on user satisfaction shows that in case of in-cash, children and the degree of disability affect user satisfaction. In the case of voucher, the gender of parents, the degree of disability and the average income affect it. The implication of this study suggests practical implication and policy implication. Implications of the study is that provide a customized service considering general characteristics. Second, It needs to extend the range of amount of payment of in-cash. Third, extend and pay the amount of in-cash, and the service of voucher. Fourth, provide low-income group(including public aid recipients and near poverty group) with voucher to ease financial burden.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of growth of parental empowerment of the family of the children with development disabilities in an online parental community. For this purpose, 250 posts were selected from a web-forum of an online-community(internet CAFE) for patients with developmental disabilities in a Korean portal site. In addition, the selected posts were analyzed based on the grounded theory method. The results showed that the parents with high risk children for developmental disabilities interacted with each other in short answers, self-addressing, and discussion type interactions under the causal condition in which the subject parents were in need of help and sympathy. The factors that significantly affected the focus event, which is the interactive communication between the posters of the original threads and replies, included the moderating conditions based on whether the conversation was respectful, friendly, or for general evaluation, as well as the contextual condition of exclusive attitudes. The strategies of the interactions were composed of two categories of self-reflections and sharing through a human relationship. The results of these interactions were either further interactions (sharing) or shying away. With regard to the process of reinforcing the collective empowerment of the family, the 'determination,' 'tips,' and 'empathy' models were used for the explanation of the process. Lastly, we discovered that trust, support, continuous interactions, specific and practical information, as well as provision of diversified perspectives through collective experiences are necessary to achieve such improvement of collective family empowerment.

The purpose of this study is to examine the parenting stress as a predictor of child abuse potential. For this study, 150 parents of children with disabilities were recruited. A personal questionnaire, parenting stress index, and potential factors of child abuse were responded. According to the results, parents who have children with disabilities reported high parenting stress and also parenting stress significantly affected parents' attitudes toward child abuse. Income, level of education, social involvement, governmental support, and social services for disabled were related to parenting stress and child abuse. Stepwise multiple regression analysis identified the variables of social involvement and social services for disabled as the most important variables in explaining parenting stress and child abuse. • This study is a qualitative study conducted to analyze the functions and needs of social robots for parents of children with developmental disabilities in order to utilize care robots for treatment of children with developmental disabilities. The subjects of the study were 11 primary caregivers with children under the age of 18 whose children were diagnosed with developmental disabilities or who had been receiving special education for more than one year. The interview questionnaire was composed of a semi-structured questionnaire and consisted of awareness, necessity, expectation, concern, and other opinions about social robots. The interview was conducted as a non-face-to-face online video interview due to COVID 19. As a result of the study, 4 themes and 7 sub-topics were derived. The four topics were derived from the unfamiliar but soon-to-be-faced reality, social robots with active functions, opinions on the appearance and materials of social robots, and concerns about social robots. Through this study, it was possible to identify the expectations and suggestions of the main caregivers for social robots, which could not be identified in quantitative studies, and if these can be reflected in social robots to be developed in the future, it is expected that positive results with higher acceptance will be derived.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate parental perspectives on cognitive rehabilitation using a combination of phenomenological research methodology and word cloud analysis. Methods : Interviews were conducted with five parents of children with developmental disabilities. Word cloud analysis was conducted using Python, and five researchers analyzed the meaning units and themes using phenomenological methods. Words with high frequency were considered as a heuristic tool. Results : A total of 43 meaning units and nine components related to the phenomenon of cognitive rehabilitation were derived, and three themes were finalized. The main themes encompassed the definition of cognitive rehabilitation, challenges associated with cognitive rehabilitation, and factors influencing the selection of a cognitive rehabilitation institute. Cognitive rehabilitation emerged as a treatment focused on improving learning, daily functioning, and cognitive abilities in children with developmental disabilities. The perceived issues with cognitive rehabilitation pertained to treatment methods, therapist expertise, and associated costs. In addition, parents highlighted the importance of therapist expertise, humane personality, and affordability of cost and schedule when choosing a cognitive rehabilitation institute. Conclusion : Parents expressed expectations for substantial improvements in their children's daily functioning through cognitive rehabilitation. However, challenges were identified in clinical practices. Going forward, we expect that cognitive rehabilitation will evolve into a better therapeutic support service addressing the concerns raised by parents.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to assess and compare the stress of mothers and fathers in families with epileptic children, and to assess contributing factors to their stress. Methods : We used a family stress survey with 35 questionnaires to obtain data concerning the parents' perceived stress. Data were analyzed with SPSS 8.0 program using Pearson correlation coefficient, oneway ANOVA, and multiple range test. Results : The parents' stress level seemed not so high and there was no significant difference in stress level between mothers and fathers. There was no significant correlation between most demographic variables of the parents and parents' stress level. But the time of bringing epileptic children correlates positively with the stress level. Oneway ANOVA showed the differences of parents' stress level according to the education institution, seizure type, number of antiepileptic drugs, and the combined disabilities of the sufferer. Conclusion : The results of present study indicate that the stress level in the families with epileptic children may be influenced by some treatment-related characteristics of epileptic children such as seizure type, number of antiepileptic drugs, combined disabilities and the raising method of hospital expenses.
