Effects of the multimodal intervention program including animal-assisted therapy on depression and self-esteem among university students

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of the multimodal group intervention that combined animal-assisted therapy (AAT) and integrated play therapy (IPT) on depression and self-esteem in undergraduate university students. The subjects were 40 students attending animal-related and social welfare departments of universities located in a metropolitan city. The multimodal intervention program was conducted for eight sessions (twice a week, 60 min each) in the experimental group. Data analysis was conducted using the independent sample t-test, ANCOVA, and paired sample t-test for pre- and post-test. Therefore, the multimodal intervention program applying AAT and IPT showed positive effects on depression and self-esteem in university students. Based on these results, this study proposed the operation of multidisciplinary education and practical and policy utilization methods to reduce depression among university students and help improve their self-esteem.

체감형 댄스게임이 여성노인의 균형능력에 미치는 효과 (Motion-based dance game's effect on the balance ability of the elderly Women)

  • 본 연구는 체감형 댄스게임이 여성노인의 정적 및 동적 균형에 미치는 영향을 조사하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 참가자들은 무작위 배정하여 체감형 댄스 게임 실험집단(n=10)과 통제집단(n=10)으로 나눈 후 실험집단은 일주일에 세번, 60분씩 6주간의 기간 동안 참여했고 통제집단은 일상생활 외 운동을 진행하지 않았다. 댄스게임의 균형 능력을 평가하기 위해 버그 균형검사(BBS), 기능적 팔 뻗기 검사(FRT), 일어나 걸어가기 검사(TUG)를 사용하여 평가하였다. 데이터는 통계적 유의성을 결정하기 위해 대응표본 t검정(paired t-test)과 독립표본 t검정을 사용하여 분석했다. 체감형 댄스 게임 그룹의 BBS, FRT, TUG 연구 결과, 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 결론적으로, 체감형 댄스 게임은 여성노인들의 균형 능력 향상에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 여성노인들에게 체감형 댄스게임 "댄스센트럴" 프로그램을 규칙적으로 지속한다면 균형성 향상에 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다. 후속적으로 노인에게 적합한 댄스게임 개발에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것으로 생각된다.

Location of the umbilicus in Korean women and its changes after breast reconstruction with an ipsilateral pedicled rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flap

  • Background The umbilicus makes an important contribution to the natural appearance of the abdomen. To date, studies on its position in Korean women are lacking, and no standards have been established. The purpose of this study was to investigate the position of umbilicus in Korean women and to review changes in its position after ipsilateral pedicled rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (IP-RAM) flap. Methods This research consisted of two studies. In first study, 100 females who visited the emergency department with gastroenteritis between 2007 and 2011 were included. In second study, 40 women who underwent IP-RAM flap in the same period were included. Using abdominal computed tomography, we measured the distance between xiphoid process and umbilicus, represented by value a, and the distance between umbilicus and symphysis pubis, represented by value b. Thus, the location of the umbilicus was represented by the ratio a/b. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test and paired t-test. Results In study 1, the mean value of a/b was 1.07. Pearson correlation test revealed a significant correlation between age and a/b. In study 2, the mean value of a/b was 1.16 in preoperative measurements and 1.01 in postoperative measurements. The paired t-test showed a significant difference between preoperative and postoperative measurements, indicating cephalic migration of the umbilicus after surgery. Conclusions The natural position of the umbilicus showed caudal migration with aging. Additionally, in a comparison of preoperative and postoperative measurements in patients who underwent IP-RAM flap, cephalic migration of the umbilicus was observed after surgery.

집단활동을 활용한 인간관계와 의사소통 교과목이 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통 자기효능감에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Interpersonal Relationships and Communication Curriculum were utilized Group Activities on Interpersonal Relationships and Communication Self-efficacy among Nursing Student)

  • 본 연구는 집단활동을 활용하여 인간관계와 의사소통 교과목이 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통 자기 효능감에 미치는 효과를 확인하기 위해 시도한 단일군 사전-사후 실험연구이다. 집단활동을 활용하여 인간관계와 의사소통 교과목을 편성한 후 2012년 9월부터 12월까지 매주 100분씩, 13회기로 인간관계와 의사소통 교과목을 운영하였다. 연구도구는 Shlein과 Guerney의 대인관계 측정도구와과 Ayres가 개발한 의사소통 자기효능감 도구를 사용하였다. 총 161부의 자료를 최종 분석하였고, PASW 18.0을 이용하여 기술통계, paired t-test로 분석하였다. 연구결과 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통 자기효능감 모두 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다. 본 연구결과는 집단활동을 활용한 인간관계와 의사소통 교과목 운영이 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통 자기효능감 향상시키는데 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 본 연구결과는 간호교육에서 간호대학생들의 의사소통 기술을 향상시킬 수 있는 교과목을 개발하고 활용할 수 있도록 근거자료로 제시될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

스마트러닝 기반 학습이 치위생학과 학생들의 학업성취도와 학습만족도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of smart-learning based education on dental hygiene students' study achievements and learning satisfaction)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the effects of smart-learning on the education of dental hygiene students. Methods: This study was conducted on 135 students in the dental hygiene department from a single university, with a pre-test implemented in order to verify the homogeneity of the experimental (smart-learning exposed) and control groups. Following each group's lecture, we measured the study achievements of the students via a post-test, and their learning satisfaction through a questionnaire. An independent t-test was conducted to examine the homogeneity of the two groups and to compare both study achievements and learning satisfaction. Furthermore, a paired t-test was performed in order to compare the study achievements before and after lectures. Results: The average learning satisfaction level of the experimental group was $4.65{\pm}0.43$, which was higher than that of the control group ($4.46{\pm}0.54$) (p<0.05). After comparing the study achievements of the groups, there was no statistically significant difference between them, both before and after lectures. Paired comparisons conducted on the overall study achievements showed that they significantly increased following lectures when compared to what they were beforehand, in both the smart-learning and control groups (p<0.001). Conclusions: Smart-learning can be expected to result in positive effects for dental hygiene education, and further structural studies on the various types of smart-learning are needed.

표면연마와 제작방법에 따른 임시 수복용 레진의 굽힘강도에 관한 비교 연구 (Comparative study of flexural strength of temporary restorative resin according to surface polishing and fabrication methods)

  • 목적: 표면연마와 제작방법이 임시 수복용 레진의 굽힘강도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 한다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 4가지 제작방법을 이용하여 각각 30개의 임시 수복용 레진 시편을 제작하였고, 기계적 연마로 표면연마를 시행한 그룹과 연마를 시행하지 않은 2개의 그룹으로 나누었다. 시편은 37℃ 항온기에 24시간 보관 후 만능시험기(Universal testing machine)을 이용하여 3점 굽힘강도를 측정하였다. 통계분석은 Two-way ANOVA와 Tukey's HSD test, Paired t-test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과: 표면연마 여부와 관계없이 CAD/CAM milling으로 제작한 시편이 가장 높은 굽힘강도를 나타냈고, SLA 3D printing, DLP 3D printing, Conventional method 순으로 높은 굽힘강도를 나타냈다. 결론: 표면연마는 임시 수복용 레진의 굽힘강도에 유의한 영향을 끼치지 못했지만(P > 0.05), 제작방법에 의해서는 굽힘강도의 유의한 차이가 나타났다(P < 0.05).

학습자 중심의 가상현실 시뮬레이션 교육 효과 (Effect of Learner-Centered Virtual Reality Simulation Education)

  • 본 연구는 학습자 중심의 가상현실 시뮬레이션 교육의 효과를 확인하기 위한 것이다. 그리고 교육효과 확인을 통해 가상현실 시뮬레이션 교육이 실습교육으로서 활용될 수 있게 하는 기초 자료를 제시하고자 한다. 자료수집은 2021년 4월 26일~6월 4일까지였으며 자료분석은 IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program을 활용하여 paired t-test, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, Spearman's correlation coefficient로 분석하였다. 연구결과 가상현실 시뮬레이션 교육 후 비판적 사고성향, 임상수행능력, 실습만족도가 향상되었고 각각 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 가상현실 시뮬레이션 교육은 간호학과 학생에게 효과적인 교수방법이며 향후 다양하고 체계적인 시나리오 및 실습 프로그램을 개발하고 적용해 나갈 필요가 있다.

관절염환자의 동통, 우울 및 삶의 만족도에 대한 아로마 요법 (The Effects of Aromatherapy on Pain, Depression, and Life Satisfaction of Arthritis Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aromatherapy on pain, depression, and feelings of satisfaction in life of arthritis patients. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, pre-and post-test. The sample consisted of 40 patients, enrolled in the Rheumatics Center, Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, South Korea. The essential oils used were lavender, marjoram, eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint blended in proportions of 2:1:2:1:1. They were mixed with a carrier oil composed of almond (45%), apricot(45%), and jojoba oil(10%) and they were diluted to 1.5% after blending. The data were analyzed using an 2-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test and paired t-test. Result: Aromatherapy significantly decreased both the pain score and the depression score of the experimental group compared with the control group. However, aromatherapy didn't increase the feeling of satisfaction in life of the experimental group compared with the control group. Conclusion: The result of this study clearly shows that aromatherapy has major effects on decreasing pain and depression levels. Based on our experiment's findings, we suggest that aromatherapy can be a useful nursing intervention for arthritis patients.

보호자역할증진 프로그램이 입원아동 보호자의 불확실성, 스트레스 및 돌보기 수행에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Caregiver's Role Improvement Program on the Uncertainty, Stress, and Role Performance of Caregivers with Hospitalized Children)

  • Purpose: In this study a caregiver's role improvement program was developed and tested to identify the effect on uncertainty, stress, and role performance of caregivers with hospitalized children. Methods: The design of this study was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group and a non-synchronized design. Thirty-three caregivers were assigned to the experimental group and 33 to the control group. Data were collected from March 5 2016 to April 10 2016. For the experimental treatment, each individual was given on-site education with situated learning (given 30 minutes each, for 2 sessions), and self-repetition learning activities were performed from the e-book. Data were analyzed using t-test, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Results: The level of uncertainty and stress decreased, and role performance level improved for these caregivers with hospitalized children. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that using on-site education through situated learning and self-repetition learning with an e-book as in the caregiver's role improvement program is an effective intervention. Therefore, utilizing the caregiver role improvement program developed in this study is recommended as an effective intervention for caregivers of hospitalized children.

경찰공무원을 대상으로 한 심폐소생술 교육효과 지속에 관한 연구 (Retention of CPR knowledge in the police)

  • Retention of CPR knowledge was assessed in a group of 86 police officers who participated in first aid and emergency rescue program on February, 2001 and 3 months later. Police officers were taken written test about CPR knowledge by American Heart Association Guidelines 2000 and competence level. Data were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Mean, paired t-test using SPSS program. The results for this study were as follows ; 1. In the post-test, the highest question was a rechecking time of circulation sign(98.8%), the lowest was a check for signs of circulation(17.4%), in 3months later, the highest question was a chest compression(94.2%), the lowest was a check for signs of circulation(1.2%), and a retention of CPR knowledge was a 71.7%. In 3months later, knowledge level was decreased compared to that of post-test(t=-9.09, p=.000). 2. In 3months later, the competence level was decreased compared to that of post-test(t=3.09, p=.003).
