  • Poisson model and Gamma-Poisson model are popularly used to analyze statistical behavior from defective data. The methods are based on binary criteria, that is, good or failure. However, manufacturing industries prefer polytomous criteria for classifying manufactured products due to flexibility of marketing. In this paper, I introduce two multivariate Gamma-Poisson(MGP) models and estimation methods of the parameters in the models, which are able to handle polytomous data. The models and estimators are verified on defective pixels of LCD manufacturing. Experimental results show that both the independent MGP model and the multinomial MGP model have excellent performance in terms of mean absolute deviation and the choice of method depends on the purpose of use.

  • Football match predictions are of great interest to fans and sports press. In the last few years it has been the focus of several studies. In this paper, we propose the Poisson regression model in order to football match outcomes. We applied the proposed methodology to two national competitions: the 2012-2013 English Premier League and the 2015 Brazilian Football League. The number of goals scored by each team in a match is assumed to follow Poisson distribution, whose average reflects the strength of the attack, defense and the home team advantage. Inferences about all unknown quantities involved are made using a Bayesian approach. We calculate the probabilities of win, draw and loss for each match using a simulation procedure. Besides, also using simulation, the probability of a team qualifying for continental tournaments, being crowned champion or relegated to the second division is obtained.

  • In this article, we proposed a new three-parameter distribution called generalized half-logistic Poisson distribution with a failure rate function that can be increasing, decreasing or upside-down bathtub-shaped depending on its parameters. The new model extends the half-logistic Poisson distribution and has exponentiated half-logistic as its limiting distribution. A comprehensive mathematical and statistical treatment of the new distribution is provided. We provide an explicit expression for the $r^{th}$ moment, moment generating function, Shannon entropy and $R{\acute{e}}nyi$ entropy. The model parameter estimation was conducted via a maximum likelihood method; in addition, the existence and uniqueness of maximum likelihood estimations are analyzed under potential conditions. Finally, an application of the new distribution to a real dataset shows the flexibility and potentiality of the proposed distribution.

  • We prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of linear d-isometries in linear d-normed Banach modules over a unital $C^*-algebra$ and of linear isometries in Banach modules over a unital $C^*-algebra$. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate d-isometric $C^*-algebra$ isomor-phisms between linear d-normed $C^*-algebras$ and isometric $C^*-algebra$ isomorphisms between $C^*-algebras$, and d-isometric Poisson $C^*-algebra$ isomorphisms between linear d-normed Poisson $C^*-algebras$ and isometric Poisson $C^*-algebra$ isomorphisms between Poisson $C^*-algebras$. We moreover prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of their d-isometric homomorphisms and of their isometric homomorphisms.

  • Let ${\delta}$ be a derivation in a noetherian integral domain A. It is shown that a natural map induces a homeomorphism between the spectrum of $A[z;{\delta}]$ and the Poisson spectrum of $A[z;{\delta}]_p$ such that its restriction to the primitive spectrum of $A[z;{\delta}]$ is also a homeomorphism onto the Poisson primitive spectrum of $A[z;{\delta}]_p$.

  • A compact model of a depletion-mode silicon-nanowire (Si-NW) pH sensor is proposed. This drain current model is obtained from the Pao-Sah integral and the continuous charge-based model, which is derived by applying the parabolic potential approximation to the Poisson's equation in the cylindrical coordinate system. The threshold-voltage shift in the drain-current model is obtained by solving the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation for the electrolyte. The simulation results obtained from the proposed drain-current model for the Si-NW field-effect transistor (SiNWFET) agree well with those of the three-dimensional (3D) device simulation, and those from the Si-NW pH sensor model also agree with the experimental data.

  • Semi-parametric frailty model with nonparametric baseline hazards has been widely used for the analyses of clustered survival-time data. The frailty models can be fitted via an auxiliary Poisson hierarchical generalized linear model (HGLM). For the inferences of the frailty model marginal likelihood, which gives MLE, is often used. The marginal likelihood is usually obtained by integrating out random effects, but it often requires an intractable integration. In this paper, we propose to obtain the MLE via Laplace approximation using a Poisson HGLM approach for semi-parametric frailty model. The proposed HGLM approach uses hierarchical-likelihood (h-likelihood), which avoids integration itself. The proposed method is illustrated using a numerical study.

  • This study is concerned with the comparison of two time homogeneous Poisson processes. Traditionally, the methods of testing equality of Poisson processes were based on the binomial distribution or its normal approximations. The sampling plans used in these methods are to observe the processes concurrently over a predetermined time interval, possibly different for each process. However, when the values of the intensities of the processes are small, inverse type sampling plans are more appropriate since there may be cases where only a few or even no events are observed in the predetermined time interval. This study considers 9 inverse type sampling plans for the comparison of two Poisson processes. For each sampling plans considered, critical regions and the design parameters of the sampling plan are determined to guarantee the significance level and the power at some values of the alternative hypothesis. The Problem of comparing of two Weibull processes are also considered.

  • Together with the Young's modulus the Poisson's ratio is another independent material parameter that governs the behavior of a structural system. Therefore, it is meaningful to evaluate separately the influence of the parameter on the random response of the structural system. To this end, a formulation dealing with the spatial randomness in the Poisson's ratio in laminated composite plates is proposed. The main idea of the paper is to transform the fraction form of the constitutive coefficients into the expanded form in an ascending order of the stochastic field function. To validate the adequacy of the formulation, a square plate is chosen and the computation results are compared with those obtained using conventional Monte Carlo simulation. It is observed that the results show good agreement with those by the Monte Carlo simulation(MCS).

  • In case of Zero-Inflated Poisson model with a change-point, likelihood ratio test statistic was used for testing hypothesis for a change-point. A change-point and several interesting parameters were estimated by using the method of moments and maximum likelihood. In order to compare the estimators, empirical mean-square-error was used. Real data for the Zero-Inflated Poisson model with a change-point and Poisson model without a change-point were examined.
