Personality Traits in Cancer Patients

  • Background: This study was planned to investigate the personality traits of cancer patients in different treatment settings, and to correlate the demographics with the personality features. Materials and Methods: A total of 237 patients referred either to Marmara University School of Medicine (MUSM) Oncology Outpatient Unit or to the private office of the faculty between March 10th and April 22nd, 2010 were enrolled in the study. The Big Five Mini Test was used to evaluate the 40 personality traits of the patients. Results: The study group consisted of 98 males (41.35%) and 139 females (58.65%) with a mean age of 51. Out of the 237, 73.9% had an educational level beyond the junior high school, and 47.3% of all patients reported a positive family history for cancer. A significant difference in terms of reconcilability, extraversion, and responsibility was observed between patients admitting to the university outpatient clinic and the private office (p<0.05). Reconcilability and extraversion were found to differ between genders significantly (p<0.05). The description of the patients by him/herself or by relatives displayed a significant difference in terms of openness (p<0.05). Parameters such as educational level, family history of cancer, age and marital status showed no relevance to their characters. No discordance was observed between the self-analysis of the patient and the patient's relatives. Conclusions: Patients with cancer are typically highly reconcilable and responsible, moderately stable, open and extraverted.

의학전문대학원 학생의 피로, 성격특성, 학습전략과 학업성취도의 관계 (Fatigue, Personality Traits, Learning Strategies, and Academic Achievement in Graduate-entry Medical Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 의학전문대학원 학생들의 피로, 성격특성, 학습전략과 학업성취도와 관계를 분석하는 것이다. 연구대상은 의학전문대학원에 재학생 중인 1, 2, 3, 4학년 총 146명이었다. 연구도구는 피로, NEO 간편형 성격검사, 학습전략 검사이며, 학업성취도는 학기말 평점평균을 사용하였다. 연구자료는 t-test, Pearson의 r, 그리고 단계적 다중회귀분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 피로는 학년에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 저학년이 고학년보다 높았다. 그러나 성격특성과 학습전략은 학년에 따라 차이가 없었다. 학년에 따라 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 차이가 있었다. 저학년의 경우, 성격특성 중 신경증, 외향성이, 학습전략 중 시연전략이 영향을 미쳤다. 반면, 고학년의 경우, 성격특성 중 성실성과 외향성이 영향을 미쳤으며, 학습전략은 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 의학전문대학원 학생의 학업성취도 향상을 위한 의학교육과정의 개선과 학년에 따른 차별화된 학생지원 시스템을 개발하는데 활용하는 방안에 대한 논의를 하였다.

팀 리더의 수행에 대한 자기-타인 평정간 비교 : 어두운 성격을 중심으로 (Agreement in self-other ratings of leader effectiveness: The role of dark side personality)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 팀 리더의 어두운 측면의 성격과 자기-타인 평정 일치도간의 관계를 탐색적으로 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 대학의 팀 프로젝트 활동에서 팀 구성원들은 리더의 수행에 대한 평정을 실시하였으며, 팀 리더 또한 동일한 팀 수행 관련 문항에 자기평정을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 리더 자신은 수행 준거에 대해 긍정적이라고 간주하지만 타인들은 관련성이 낮거나 부정적이라고 지각하는 성격 요인은 자기 과시적 및 완벽 주의적이었다. 둘째, 리더 자신은 수행 준거에 대해 관련성이 낮거나 부정적이라고 지각하지만, 동료들은 긍정적이라고 간주하는 성격요인은 양면적인과 보수적인 요인이었다. 마지막으로 자기-타인 평정 일치에 대한 새로운 접근과 관련해서 본 연구의 의의와 추후 연구 방향을 논의하였다.

아이젱크 성격검사와 기질 및 성격검사를 통한 사상체질 특성 연구 (Study on Personality Traits of Sasang Constitution with TCI and EPQ)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to study the personality traits of Sasang constitutions by comparing the profiles of Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Methods : A total of 110 healthy people (20 to 40 years old), except for 2 Taeyangin (TY type), were analyzed; 45 Taeeumin (TE type), 32 Soyangin (SY type), and 31 Soeumin (SE type). A Sasang constitutional medicine specialist diagnosed the Sasang constitution after analyzing the result of a Two Step Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Diagnosis (TS-QSCD), the external appearance, temperament and symptoms. The dimensions of TCI and EPQ were compared among the different Sasang constitutions, using an analysis of variance, and correlations between TCI and EPQ were analyzed by a Pearson correlation method. Results : Among the four temperament dimensions of TCI, SY type showed a significantly higher score than the SE type in Novelty Seeking. SE type showed significantly higher score than TE and SY type in Harm Avoidance. SY type showed significantly higher score than SE type in Reward Dependence. TE and SY type showed significantly higher score than SE type in Persistence. There were no significant differences in the character dimensions of Self-directness, Cooperativeness and Self-Transcendence. Among the seven dimensions of EPQ, TE and SY type showed significantly higher score than SE type in Extraversion. SE type showed significantly higher score than SY type in Lie. SY type showed significantly higher score than TE and SE type in Impulsiveness. Conclusions : The results demonstrated that there are some significant differences of personality traits among Sasang constitutions. This could help diagnose and understand each Sasang constitution.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of organizational culture, personality Traits, work addiction and workplace family conflict on the life satisfaction of Korean Air crew. Methods: The collected data through the survey were analyzed using structure equation model analysis The sample used for the empirical analysis is a total of 578 questionnaires. Results: Empirical analysis summarized next. Organizational culture and personality characteristics have some effects on work poisoning. However, the compulsion of work driven does not affect work-family conflict, Family-Work Conflict does not affect Life Satisfaction. Conclusion: This paper has a contribution in that it extends the range of the academic research concerning Workaholic. Also this paper provides implications on effective human resource management method suitable for airline industry.

Creating Characters Based on the Portrait Paintings of the Chosun Period and the Death Records of the "Chosun-dynasty Sillok"

  • This study investigates the portrait paintings of the Chosun period and the Death Records of the Chosun-dynasty Sillok in an effort to find new methods to apply to character design. The basis of this study were 42 figures from a group of portrait paintings from the late Goryeo period to the Chosun dynasty of the 25th King, Chul-Jong. First, Chinese letters illustrating the personalities in the Death Records were classified into five groups based on the Big Five theory, which divides personalities into the Big Five Personality Traits of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness. Secondly, a representative facial image was created through a morphing technique after extracting the portraits using a method that relied on the high frequency of the appearance of specific Chinese letters related to each personality type.

성역할 정체감 척도 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sex-Role Identity Inventory)

  • Sex role reseach in korea has been hindered by the absence a sex role inventory which is based on the sex role stereotypes of the Korea society. This study has attempted to establish the korean sex-role identity inventory in line with the theory and methods of the androgynous perspective, In a prelinminary study 450 judges rated the desirability of 156 personality characteristics for males and females in Korean society. Following Broverman's procedure for item selection, male-oriented traits(20 items), female-oriented traits(20 items), and neutral traits(10 items) were selected. Sex-role identity inventory were administred to 982 judges. Compared to the translated versions of foreign sex role inventories or the masculinity-feminity scales of the traditional personality tents which do not correspond with androgyny theory, the results of this study have various advantages for sex-role reserach in Korea.

얼굴 영역 추출 시 여유값의 설정에 따른 개성 인식 모델 정확도 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis for Accuracy of Personality Recognition Models based on Setting of Margin Values at Face Region Extraction)

  • 최근 개인의 성향을 반영한 맞춤형 서비스가 각광 받고 있다. 이와 관련하여 개인의 개성을 인식하고 활용하고자 하는 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 각 개인의 개성을 인식하고 평가하는 방법은 다수가 있지만, OCEAN 모델이 대표적으로 사용된다. OCEAN 모델로 각 개인의 개성을 인식할 때 언어적, 준언어적, 비언어적 정보를 이용하는 멀티 모달리티 기반 인공지능 모델이 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 비언어적 정보인 사용자의 표정을 기반으로 OCEAN을 인식하는 인공지능 모델에서 영상 데이터에서 얼굴 영역을 추출할 때 지정하는 얼굴 영역 여유값(Margin)에 따른 개성 인식 모델 정확도 성능을 분석한다. 실험에서는 2D Patch Partition, R2plus1D, 3D Patch Partition, 그리고 Video Swin Transformer에 기반한 개성 인식 모델을 사용하였다. 얼굴 영역 추출 시 여유값을 60으로 사용했을 때 1-MAE 성능이 0.9118로 가장 우수하였다. 따라서 개성 인식 모델의 성능을 최적화하기 위해서는 적절한 여유값을 설정해야 함을 확인하였다.

주도적 성격과 지식 공유: LMXSC의 상반된 조절효과 검증 (Proactive Personality and Knowledge Sharing: The Contrasting Effects of Leader-Member Exchange Social Comparison (LMXSC))

  • This paper focuses on proactive personality as one of the main personality traits relevant to knowledge sharing and examines how this personal trait influences knowledge sharing behavior. Moreover, in order to consider the interactive effect between proactive personality and a contextual factor, this study utilized the construct of LMXSC which can reveal restoration of resource losses due to knowledge sharing. Because LMXSC can have opposite directions depending on used theories, this study investigates how LMXSC moderates the relationship between proactive personality and knowledge sharing behavior by using conservation of resources theory and trait activation theory. This study tests hypotheses with the data of supervisor-employee dyads in various industries. An empirical results showed that proactive personality increased knowledge sharing behavior and LMXSC strengthened the positive relationship between proactive personality and knowledge sharing behavior as conservation of resources theory predicts. Based on these theoretical arguments and empirical findings, this study suggests theoretical and practical implications, limitations, and the directions of future research.

Relationship between Personality and Biological Reactivity to Stress: A Review

  • Objective Personality traits can be the basis for individual differences in the biological response of stress. To date, many psychobiological studies have been conducted to clarify the relationship between personality and biological reactivity to stress. This review summarizes the most important findings in this area of research. Results Key findings related to the relationship between personality factors and stress-sensitive biological systems in four research models have been summarized; model of psychosocial characteristics, model based on Rumination and Emotional Inhibition, Eysenck's biopsychological model, and Five-Factor Approach of Personality. Conclusion According to the results of this review, it can be concluded that personality typology of individuals influenced their biological reactivity to stressful events. Understanding the biological basis of personality can help to better understand vulnerability to stress. Future research can be continuing based on framework of the four models.
