  • There are several applications and error analysis methods using GPS(Global Positioning System) In most analysis positioning and timing errors are represented as the multiplication of DOP(Dilution Of Precision) and measurement errors, which are affected by the receiver and measurement type. Therefore, lots of DOPs are defined and used to analyze and predict the performance of positioning and timing systems. In this paper, the relationships between these DOPs are investigated in detail, The relationships between GDOP(Geometric DOP), PDOP(Position DOP) and TDOP(Time DOP) in the absolute positioning are de-rived. Using these relationships, the affect of clock bias is analyzed. The relationships between RGDOP(Relative DOP) and PDOP are also derived in relative positioning where the single difference and double dif-ference techniques are used. From the results, it is expected that using the common clock will give better performance when the single difference technique is used while the effects of clock is eliminate when the double difference technique is used. Finally, the error analyses of dual frequency receivers show that the narrow lane measurements give more accurate results than wide line of or L1. L2 independent measurements.

  • Atmospheric water vapor is a key variable in numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, but it is a crucial factor to limit the accuracy of high-precision GPS positioning technique. For both issues, knowledge about the amount of water vapor is extremely important. In this study, we perform a simulation study to utilize GPS signals through a developed tomographic scheme to retrieve 3D structure of atmospheric wet refractivity, which may be assimilated into NWP models for advancing forecasting or position calculation for improving GPS positioning accuracy. For the purpose of knowing the absolute accuracy of the developed tomographic method, a well-defined temporal and spatial varying state of atmospheric profile is utilized. Under such circumstance, several factors that may influence the retrievals can be easily examined and their impacts may be clearly quantified. They include the values of the positional dilution of precision (PDOP) factors of the GPS signals, ... etc. Based upon the use of a variety spectrum of adjustable factors, many interesting findings are obtained. For example, the more is the number of the observed GPS signals the better becomes the retrievals as expected. Also, the smaller is the PDOP value the better becomes the retrievals.

  • This paper can be used for GPS air navigation study on integrity monitoring algorithm as, the projected horizontal plane using GPS pseudorange residuals for fault detection satellites were suspected. Failure to remove the detected suspicious satellite, compare with threshold which is calculated using satellite deployment (PDOP) and determine whether the failure is presented. The theory that horizontal projection of the satellite failure residuals greater than residual of normal satellite is proved mathematically. Comparison with horizontal projection residuals are likely to malfunction in the satellite were presented. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, bias fault insert into GPS pseudorange, and compare with conventional parity space method about fault detection and isolation capability.

  • For a high resolution real-time kinematic GPS surveying using carrier phase, positioning accuracy according to the OTF initialization was better than 1 cm with more than 5-minute initialization within 20 km baseline. Also, it is recommended that measurements be carried out when PDOP and RDOP can be kept less than 4.0 since the geometrical layout of satellites has a great influence on the positioning accuracy. After considering the initial conditions and measuring time zone for real-time kinematic GPS. post-processed continuous kinematic GPS and real-time kinematic GPS measurements have been carried out. A new system has been proposed to store measured data by using a program developed to store GPS data in real time and to monitor the satellite condition through controller at the time of measurement. As a result, it has been revealed that possible noise in surveying could be corrected and the accuracy could be improved.

  • This research was focused on the analysis of navigation parameters from the received L1, C/A signal of the recent GPS, which has advanced with the SA policy change and the GPS modernization policy by the United States. It was done as a first step study for a comprehensive analysis on the multiple satellite navigation systems which will be adding or separating GPS signal. In particular, the statistical analysis on the GDOP change and positional accuracy based on the geocentric and spherical coordinate systems were investigated with carrier- to-noise ratio and the satellite geometry, The obtained GDOP values of HDOP, PDOP, VDOP are 0.5, 1.2, and 1.1, respectively in deviation. In addition, the positioning accuracies with these GDOP values were analyzed in the ellipsoidal and ECEF coordinates.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the accuracy of the vertical positioning by distance using Network RTK-GPS. The experimental results confirm that Network RTK-GPS method can acquire data quickly and accurately than conventional leveling methods so that the Network RTK-GPS method is a relatively efficient and economical way for the vertical positioning. Results of validation using permanent GPS stations indicate that visible satellites, PDOP, and VDOP are very good for the vertical positioning. Integrated reference points such as U0997 and U0921 are satisfied with 3 ratings in the rules of public leveling and all the rest are proved improper. When the vertical positioning using Network RTK-GPS is implemented, the geoid height of EGM2008 should be applied for leveling. If the number of geodetic satellite are increasing in the near future, the vertical positioning using Network RTK-GPS can be possible in all the range.

  • Kinematic GPS surveying which can obtain much 3D topographical information through short-time measurement is being utilized mainly in the short baseline less than a few kilometers. Because the decision of position for the long baseline depends on the static GPS surveying which needs long time measurement, the method for measuring the position of long baseline is needed. In this study, the accuracy of the baseline according to the baseline distance, ephemeris, and observation time by GPS surveying is analysed to confirm the application of kinematic GPS surveying for the long baseline. As the result of this, the acquisition of 3D topographical information by GPS surveying in a few minutes will be possible when PDOP is less than 4, and the fast precise ephemeris is used within 60 km. Also, the accuracy is similar to that of final precise ephemeris of IGS. If a lot of studies about the long baseline kinematic GPS surveying are processed, the acquisition of topographical information for various industry including land development will be obtained more efficiently.

  • The carrier phase measurements from GPS and GLONASS have different characteristics and therefore, have to be processed with different methods to provide precise positions or attitudes. In this contribution, at first, a measurement model is derived which can be used to not only GLONASS only applications but also both GPS and GLONASS applications. And then an error analysis of the proposed method performed using the derived model to derive analytic relationships between GDOP, PDOP and RGDOP. Finally, an integer ambiguity resolution method which was used in GPS is expanded to GPS and GLONASS. The proposed results can be directly applied to the design and analysis of GLONASS receiver and application programs. Furthermore, it is expected that the suggested method can also be effectively applied to combine the characteristically different measurements from the future satellite navigation systems such as GPS modernization, Galileo and QZSS.

  • The Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) has been fully recovered since October 2011, and it has been significantly modernized. The recently launched GLONASS 752 was set for successful performance on October 16, 2017 and has resulted in 24-satellite constellation with 22 second-generation (GLONASS-M) satellites, and a third-generation (GLONASS-K) satellite. Therefore, this paper is focused on not only the identified navigation parameters, but also the performance analysis of the project based on its real data received from the studied satellites. It is verified that the 5-11 satellites are available for receiving navigation signal at this time. The obtained values of GDOP, PDOP, HDOP, VDOP, and TDOP are 2.790, 2.424, 1.169, 2.123, and 1.381, noted respectively in standard deviation. In fact, the level of positioning precision is about 1.4m in standard deviation. As a result, the positioning performances of the measured GLONASS and GPS are virtually identical. Therefore, we determine that the GLONASS is expected to be expanded for future applications.
