  • Plasma oscillation has been observed during the development of the glow discharge as detector for gas chromatography. The variation of oscillation frequency shows the better stability and detection limits than the changes in the dischange curent. To investigate the range of useful operating conditions and to gain insight into the mechanism, the effect of experimental parameters on plasma oscillation have been studied. This study includes the variation of discharge current, pressure and discharge gap. Frequency ranges of 10KHz to 10MHz have been observed with the various shapes of oscillation. Two kinds of mode for oscillation are observed with the variation of electrode gap at low pressure and low voltage.

  • The changes in discharge current, emission and/or oscillation frequency of the electric oscillation of a glow discharge are the potential sensitive measure of the concentration of an impurity in the argon plasma supporting gas. A single jet enhanced glow discharge has been interfaced with the gas chromatograph via 1/8" O.D. tube with a heating pad to study the changes in discharge current. To investigate the optimum operating conditions of the glow discharge system as detector for gas chromatography, pressure, gas flow rate, discharge current, distance between the anode and the cathode have been studied.

  • The plasma oscillation has been observed in an argon pressure between a tungsten anode and cathode consisting of an aqueous conducting solution. The effects of experimental parameters on the electrical characteristics of the glow discharge have been studied. The experimental parameters include the anode-cathode distance, pressure, methanol flow rate, and cathode materials. The glow discharge with liquid cathode and solid anode showed the potential sensitive detector for HPLC

  • In this paper, a circuit for detecting a fine oscillation in an integrated PCS and W-CDMA receiver is presented. The advantages for this design are small size and flexible compatibility for system operation compared with the conventional method. The fine oscillation level can be detected by dB unit through selecting the receiver mode as PCS of 1.8 GHz range or W CDMA of 1.9 GHz range by a RF switch and monitoring the corresponding frequency band. Also, the circuit is designed to be flexible for other communication systems with the consideration of the required dynamic range of 75 dB.

  • We designed an x-band radar for motion detector using a frequency tunable hairpin ring resonator. The proposed doppler radar sensor can vary the oscillation frequency by applying a hairpin resonator using a varactor diode to the oscillator, and this can also reduce the size by transmitting and receiving a signal from Tx/Rx dual antenna. The fabricated doppler radar sensor was fabricated in $30{\times}24mm$, and it was confirmed that the pulse width difference occurred according to the distance from the object. The measurement results showed oscillation at 10.525GHz. We confirmed that it is enough to use as radar for motion detection from the measured results.

  • Reactor neutrinos have been detected in the past 50 years by various detectors for different purposes. Beginning in the 1980s, neutrino physicists have tried to use neutrinos to monitor reactors and develop an optimized detector for nuclear safeguards. Recently, motivated by neutrino oscillation physics, the technology and scale of reactor neutrino detection have progressed considerably. In this review, I will give an overview of the detection technology for reactor neutrinos, and describe the issues related to further improvements in optimized detectors for reactor monitoring.

  • This paper presents a miniaturized electromagnetic wave detector. The dimension is reduced down to $31{\times}18{\times}13.5mm^3$ by using common OP-AMPs for amplification and oscillation. The strength from wave radiators is indicated by a color LED; green, orange and red colors mean the low, the middle and the high level, respectively. An alarm bell rings as the wave strength becomes above high level. The detector uses 3V battery. The detector could be used for a cellular phone decoration, a necklace pendant and a key holder.

  • During an earthquake on December 29th 2020, the Krško NPP automatically shutdown due to the trigger of the negative neutron flux rate signal on the power range nuclear instrumentation. From the time course of the detector signal, it can be concluded that the fluctuation in the detector signal may have been caused by the mechanical movement of the ex-core neutron detectors or the pressure vessel components rather than the actual change in reactor power. The objective of the analysis was to evaluate the sensitivity of the neutron flux at the ex-core detector position, if the detector is moved in the radial or axial direction. In addition, the effect of the core barrel movement and core inside the baffle movement in the radial direction were analysed. The analysis is complemented by the calculation of the thermal and total neutron flux gradient in radial, axial and azimuthal directions. The Monte Carlo particle transport code MCNP was used to study the changes in the response of the ex-core detector for the above-mentioned scenarios. Power and intermediate-range detectors were analysed separately, because they are designed differently, positioned at different locations, and have different response characteristics. It was found that the movement of the power range ex-core detector has a negligible effect on the value of the thermal neutron flux in the active part of the detector. However, the radial movement of the intermediate-range detector by 5 cm results in 7%-8% change in the thermal neutron flux in the active part of the intermediate-range detector. The analysis continued with an evaluation of the effects of moving the entire core barrel on the ex-core detector response. It was estimated that the 2 mm core barrel radial oscillation results in ~4% deviation in the power and intermediate-range detector signal. The movement of the reactor core inside baffle can contribute ~6% deviation in the ex-core neutron detector signal. The analysis showed that the mechanical movement of ex-core neutron detectors cannot explain the fluctuations in the ex-core detector signal. However, combined core barrel and reactor core inside baffle oscillations could be a probable reason for the observed fluctuations in the ex-core detector signal during an earthquake.

  • This study was intended to evaluate the feasibility of the vehicle detector using a coil sensor. For the evaluation, the research team built a test environment for the detector consisting of a oscillation circuit, data collecting circuit, data monitoring and saving circuit, etc. As the result of the frequency analysis of the detector from the test environment, it was verified for the detector using a coil sensor to generate stable frequencies. In addition, the ease of construction and management was tested by comparing the size of cutting areas, consumption of installation materials, and installation time for a traditional loop detector and the detector using a coil sensor. As a result, the installation of the detector using a coil sensor requires less size of cutting areas, consumption of installation materials, and installation time.
