Fe foam with above 90% porosity and 2 millimeter pore size was successfully fabricated by a slurry coating process. In this study, the binder contents were controlled to produce the Fe foam with different pore size, strut thickness and porosity. Firstly, the slurry was prepared by uniform mixing with Fe powders, distilled water and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as initial materials. After slurry coating on the polyurethane(PU) foam the sample was dried at $80^{\circ}C$. The PVA and PU foams were then removed by heating at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. The debinded samples were subsequently sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ with holding time of 3 hours under hydrogen atmosphere. The three dimensional geometries of the obtained Fe foams with open cell structure were investigated using X-ray micro CT(computed tomography) as well as the pore morphology, size and phase.

Recently, waste concrete emission has been increased by acceleration of urban development and the rapid growth of redevelopment projects, so recycling of waste concrete is actively progressed, But the usage is limited to a lower value added such as the roadbed material etc. To produce the high quality recycled aggregate, breaking and washing process is added to the existing process and inevitably increases the occurrence of particle, because old mortal is included in the recycled aggregate. Therefore, this study purpose is analysis the properties of lightweight foamed concrete made by waste concrete sludge which is the by-product from produce the recycled aggregate. In result, possibility of manufacture of lightweight foamed concrete which gives equal performance compared with ALC was detect(scope of density : $0.5{\sim}0.6$, scope of compressive strength : $3.5{\sim}4.0MPa$). And scope of porosity is as follow ; total porosity : $27{\sim}30%$, open porosity : $1{\sim}5%$

Capsule free hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) of 12 mol% $CeO_2-88 mo% ZrO_2 (12CeO_2-88ZrO_2)$ powder was conducted at 1100~$1200^{\circ}C$ using the powder crystallized in supercritical methanol followed by supercritical drying. Porous $12CeO_2-88ZrO_2$ ceramics with ~35% open porosity, micropore diameter of ~23 nm and a narrow pore size distribution were fabricated by capsule free hot isostatic pressing at $1100^{\circ}C$. The porosity increased with decrease in HIPing temperature and was accompanied by a steady decrease in fracture strength.

A metal fiber bed has seldom been applied to the practical filtration process despite its excellent mechanical and chemical stability. The filter-bed used in this work was highly porous with open structure, of which apparent porosity was 80 ∼ 90%. Although pressure loss across the filter-bed was very low, separation efficiency was found to be quite high. This paper focuses on the basic filtration mechanisms of a metal filter-bed and a thin ceramic filter from fly ash for reference. The experimental parameters were face velocity, dust loading and porosity of filter-bed. Pressure drop increased with increasing face velocity and dust feeding load for both filters. It also showed that dust particles deposited in the deep flow path, finally resulting in clogging the pore channels. It thereby indicates that the dominating mechanism of the metal filter-bed would be depth filtration. Meanwhile, the thin fly ash composite filters trapped the aerated dust mainly on the surface of the filter medium, so that the instantaneously formed dust layer might cause a steep increase of pressure drop across the filtration system.
Wet foams formed through direct foaming were stabilized using various concentrations of amiphiphilic particles that could control pore size and porosity. These porous materials showed moderate strength upon compression with high porosity. Bubble size and wet foam stability were tailored by amphiphile concentration, particle concentration, contact angle, and pH of the suspension to obtain crack-free porous solid after sintering. Closed and open pores were obtained with sizes of 30~300 ${\mu}m$ and porosities of over 80%.
Boryung sandstone and Yeosan marble were thermally cracked at predetermined temperatures ranging $200^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$. Optical microscopy was utilized to observe thermally induced cracks and physical properties such as specific gravity, effective porosity k elastic wave velocity were measured. Optical observations show that all crystal boundaries of Yeosan marble heated to $600^{\circ}C$ open and new intracrystalline cracks seem to be occurred in all crystals, but developments of thermal cracks in Boryung sandstone heated to $600^{\circ}C$ are not pronounced. From $200^{\circ}C$ upwards, effective porosity and elastic wave velocity of Yeosan marble are sharpely increased, whereas effective porosity and elastic wave velocity of Boryung sandstone are weakly increased.
Metal foams have a cellular structure consisting of a solid metal containing a large volume fraction of pores. In particular, open pores which are penetrable pores are necessary for industrial applications such as in high temperature filters and as support for catalysts. In this study, Fe foam with greater than 90% porosity and 2-mm pore size was successfully fabricated using a slurry coating process and the pore properties were characterized. The Fe and $Fe_2O_3$ powder mixing ratios were controlled to produce Fe foam samples with different pore sizes and porosity. First, the slurry was prepared through the uniform mixing of powders, distilled water, and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA). The amount of slurry coated with the PU foam increased with increasing $Fe_2O_3$ mixing powder ratio, but the shrinkage and porosity of the Fe foams decreased, respectively, with increasing $Fe_2O_3$ mixing powder ratio.
The spheric sintered body with $6{\pm}2mm$ diameter was manufactured in a rotary kiln at $1125^{\circ}C$/15 min using green body formed by pelletizing the batch powder composing of coal bottom ash produced from power plant and dredged soil by 70:30, wt%. And the physical properties of sintered body (BD) were analyzed to confirm the possibility for applying to an absorbent to restore a contaminated soil. The sintered body had a giant pore above 100 ${\mu}m$ and a fine pore below 10 ${\mu}m$, and bulk density was 1.4. Also its specific surface area, porosity and void proportion were $12.0m^2/g$, 30.1% and 38.2% respectively. The crushed body (BD-C), produced by crushing a BD specimen into an irregular shape with a aspect ratio of about 2, was similar to BD specimen at bulk density and pore size distribution. But it had superior values of specific surface area, porosity and void proportion compared with BD specimen owing to a decreased apparent volume due to conversion of closed pore existed at interior of BD to open pore during a crushing process. The IEP of sintered body occurred at about pH=5, so the optimum pH condition of reacting aqueous solution could be known before bonding a microbe to the sintered body. Hence, the optimum void proportion and porosity of an absorbent can be obtained by appropriate mixing a BD with BD-C from the base data calculated in this study.
The sintering behaviors of the glass-alumina composites for low firing temperature were investigated as functiions of the volume fraction of alumina powder and the particle size with respect to porosity and pore shape. As the volume fraction of alumina powder was increased or the particle size of it was decreased, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was raised. When the volume fractions of alumina which had 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ median diameter were increased with 20, 30, 40, and 50%, the sintering temperatures of open pore-closing were 425, 450, 475, and 500$^{\circ}C$. And when the median particle size of alumina was diminished from 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 0.38$\mu\textrm{m}$, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was increased from 450$^{\circ}C$ to 475$^{\circ}C$. Especially, the sintering temperature, which showed maximum density, was corresponded with the stage of open pore-closing and after achieving maximum density over heating resulted in dedensification of specimen, so called, over-firing behavior.

Outlet of gas has been a big problem in deforming rubber or plastic in pressing mold. Air vent has been used to solve the problem, but it has weak points such as the increased cost, the increased number of process, and vent marks on the surface of a produce. In this study, the sintering method is used for making porous metal mold. Porous metal mold has many open pores, which are very small. When Porous metal mold is used for pressing mold, all process would be made short, produce cost would be down, and it would not leave vent marks on the surface of a produce. Porosity varies from sintering and pressing conditions, which are the pressure of compacting powder, the length of sintering time, sintering temperature and sintering atmosphere etc. This study will find optimized sintering temperature condition for the Porous metal mold.
