  • This paper introduces a guest identity provider system for eduroam which is a global Wi-Fi service targeting users enrolled in higher education and research institutions. Developed eduroam AND (AutheNtication Delegation) system enables users to create their eduroam user accounts and to access eduroam regardless of their locations. Users with no organizational eduroam account therefore can freely access eduroam using the system. A federated authentication model is implemented in the system, and thus the system has merits of having high accessibility, indirectly verifying users and organizations possible, saving management overhead. Status monitoring is essential because authentication request and response messages are routed by eduroam network. eduroam AND performs active monitoring to check service availability and visualizes the results, which increases operational and management efficiency. We leveraged open-source libraries to implement eduroam AND and run the system on KREONET (Korea REsearch Open NETwork). Lastly, we present implementation details and qualitively evaluate the system.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) is a collective term referring to application services that provide information through sensors/devices connected to the internet. The real world application of IoT is expanding fast along with growing number of sensors/devices. However, since IoT application relies on vertical combination of sensors/devices networks, information sharing within IoT services remains unresolved challenge. Consequently, IoT sensors/devices demand high construction and maintenance costs, rendering the creation of new IoT services potentially expensive. One solution is to launch an IoT open market for information sharing similar to that of App Store for smart-phones. Doing so will efficiently allow novel IoT services to emerge across various industries, because developers can purchase licenses to access IoT resources directly via an open market. Sharing IoT resource information through an open market will create an echo-system conducive for easy utilization of resources and communication between IoT service providers, resource owners, and developers. This paper proposes the new business model of IoT open market for information sharing, and the requirements for ensuring security and standardization of open markets.

  • An "OpenNote" can be defined as the sharing of medical records between patient and doctors by online, and is a new trial to allow patients to access their medical records any time. To identify the need for the introduction of OpenNotes, which is expanding medical recrods, this study has researched the awareness and attitude towards medical records and OpenNotes among hospital workers in charge of part of medical servises. One of the results in this study is that recognizing his or her own records can impact his or her understanding his or her health status. Also, the subjects who were participated in this study generally agreed with the usefulness of the OpenNote and were willing to participate in the OpenNote. Meanwhile the subjects are admitting counterfeiting the medical records or falsifying them. The conclusion has been shown that patient-doctor sharing of medical records could help patients better understand their health information and encourage their self-care. When patients can access their own medical records easily, Unnecessary misunderstandings and distrust of records between patients and medical staff can be markedly reduced then it can help to build up the trust in a doctor-patient relationship. Considering not only the health utility of OpenNotes but also the impact on the trust of doctors, the pilot project of OpneNotes for experimental verification is proposed.

  • Currently there are wide variety of web services and applications available for users. Such services restrict access to only authorized users, and therefore its users often need to go through the inconvenience of getting an authentication from each service every time. To resolve of such inconvenience, a third party application with OAuth(Open Authorization) protocol that can provide restricted access to different web services has appeared. OAuth protocol provides applicable and flexible services to its users, but is exposed to reply attack, phishing attack, impersonation attack. Therefore we propose method that after authentication Access Token can be issued by using the E-mail authentication. In proposed method, regular user authentication success rate is high when value is 5 minutes. However, in the case of the attacker, the probability which can be gotten certificated is not more than the user contrast 0.3% within 5 minutes.

  • Service and technology for the future hyper-connected society, which is every information receive through the mobile internet, will be an Internet of Things. Thus, it is mandatory to derive key standardization work item and establish strategy for the global business with the standardization of device and service platform by the application service. In this study, by analyzing the domestic and international market trends, state of technical development, and standardization of technology, we identified the open platform is the stepping stone for achieving the goal which is establishing the virtuous circulation of IoT ecosystem. Also, we defined emphasized key standardization work item for achieving the open platform are network, server, access authentication, billing system, and software platform. After that, we proposed future strategy direction of standardization. This research could be contribute to the IoT service diffusion by realizing IP communication among low power wireless terminals and implementing light-weight standard internet protocol.

  • In this paper, we design the radio interface protocols of wideband Wireless Local Loop(WLL) that uses wideband Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA), and propose the random access procedures on access channel and analyze the performance of the channel. The structure of radio interface protocols are designed by three modular parts to meet the requirements of IMT-2000 : radio resource controlling part that depends on the radio resources, connection controlling part that is independent of the radio resources, and application part that supports the interface between different parts and user terminals. In addition, we propose the random access procedures on access channel and analyze the performance of the channel. We assume that both near-far effect and shadow fading can be compensated by open loop power control. We observe that the number of access probes(delay) depend on the initial mobile transmission power and power increment, and the poor estimation of initial mobile transmission power might increase the average number of access probes.

  • Subcondylar fractures have generally been treated by intermaxillary fixation except in cases where there is an absolute indication for open reduction. The reason behind a less aggressive surgical approach lies on the inherent difficulties in manipulating fragments in such a small area at the risk of damaging facial nerves or vessels such as the internal maxillary artery. However, long-term follow-up studies showed that conservative treatment of subcondylar fractures results in disturbances of occlusal function, deviation of the mandible, internal derangement of the temporomandibular joint, and ankylosis of the joint. We carried out open reduction of dislocated subcondylar fractures in 14 patients from 2000 to 2004 by a retromandibular approach. After the reduction of fractured bone, two H-shaped miniplates with 6 holes were fixed with screws at the anterior and posterior surfaces of the subcondyle. The retromandibular approach allowed good access and easy manipulation of the subcondyle. Immediate relief from malocclusion and correction of mandibular midline shifting were observed in all patients. Late temporomandibular dysfunction and ankylosis were not observed. Open reduction with plate osteosynthesis made it possible to avoid IMF in 7 of the 14 patients. The present study shows that open reduction through this retromandibular approach can produce good outcome in adult patients with subcondylar fracture.

  • We performed field test and analyzed results of field test in variable HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) network environments. And we investigated whether the test results is satisfied in DOCSIS(Data-over-Cable Service Interface Specification) 2.0 and OpenCable standard. Also, we propose HFC improvement problem for HFC Network quality as BcN(Broadband convergence Network) access network. We tested three sample areas. The sample areas represent various type of SO(System Operator) in korea. The field test was to measure signal level about digital channels. In results of multiple digital channels, in case of "Equalizer ON", we could be obtained very good test results. The results of field test were shown in satisfying recommended values in DOCSIS 2.0 and OpenCable. So, we could have confidence through field test that BcN will be possible to be adapted to environment of korea HFC network.
