IGRINS : Collimating Mirror Mount Opto-mechanical Design

  • The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) and the Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) are developing a near infrared wide-band high resolution spectrograph, IGRINS (Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph). The white-pupil design of the instrument optics uses 7 cryogenic mirrors including 3 aspherical off-axis collimators and 4 flat fold mirrors. Two of the 3 collimators are H- and K-band pupil transfer mirrors and they are designed as compensators for the system alignment in each channel. Therefore, their mount design will be one of the most sensitive parts in the IGRINS optomechanical system. The design work will include the computer-aided 3D modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize the structural stability of the mount models. The mount body will also include a tip-tilt and translation adjustment mechanism to be used as the alignment compensators.

궤도차량의 직진주행시 궤도장력 감지 (Track Tension Monitoring in the Longitudinal Traveling of Tracked Vehicles)

  • The track tension is closely related to the maneuverability of tracked vehicles and the durability of tracks and suspension systems. In order to minimize the excessive load on the tracks and to pre vent the peal-off of tracks from the road wheels, it is required to maintain the optimum track tension throughout the maneuver. However, the track tension cannot be easily measured due to the limitation in the sensor technology, harsh environment, etc. In this paper an indirect track tension monitoring system is developed based on idler assembly models, a geometric relation around the idler, and the tractive force estimated by using the Extended Kalman Filter. The performance of the tension monitoring system is verified with the results obtained from the Multi-Body Dynamics model.

위치 인식이 가능한 WBAN 용 UWB 수신기 (UWB WBAN Receiver for Real Time Location System)

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 통신 및 근거리 위치 인식이 가능한 WBAN(wireless body area network) 용 UWB(Ultra-wide band) 수신기 회로를 제안한다. UWB 수신기는 에너지 검출 방식의 OOK(on-off keying) 변조가 가능하도록 설계가 되었다. 고속의 sampling 을 하기 위해서 4bit ADC 는 DLL(delay locked loop) 을 이용하여 sub-sampling 기법을 사용하도록 설계되었다. 제안된 UWB 수신기는 CMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ 공정을 이용하여 설계되었으며, 전원 전압 1.8V에서 61mA의 전류를 소모하면서 -85.7dBm의 수신 감도, 42.1dB의 RF front-end 게인, 3.88 dB의 noise figure, 최대 4m 까지의 거리 감지 성능을 가지고 있다.

에너지 절약형 자동조명 장치 개발 (Development of automatic illumination controller for energy saving)

  • The auto-illumination controller for office, residence, and so on was studied. The system consists of parts of a power supply, a signal oscillator, a lamp controller and two kinds of sensor. The lamp controller has two thyristors triggered by the IR sensor(SCRI) and CdS sensor(SCR2) respectively, When the illuminance around this system is higher than operating value of its sensor, lamp is turned off automatically. Otherwise, the light of lamp gets dim by CdS sensor. In case IR sensor senses the body heat of people around itself, the illuminance of the lamp gets maximum. The illuminance of the lamp can be changed dimmly by control of the variable resistor (RV) connected with SCR2 in series. The turning - on time of the lamp can be also controlled using a variable resistor(Rt) connected with a signal oscillator in parallel. Changing resistance Rt changes the time constant(.tau.), which triggers the gate of SCR2. Though people left the surrounding of lamp, the lamp keeps light for a while.

Large deformation performance of the anti-seepage system connection part in earth core dam built on thick overburden

  • Dams are inevitably planned to be built on thick overburden with high permeability and deformability. The connection part between concrete cut-off wall in overburden and earth core in dam body is not only a key part of the anti-seepage system, but also a weak position. Large uneven settlement will be aroused at the concoction part. However, the interaction behavior and the scope of the connection part cannot be determined effectively. In this paper, numerical analysis of a high earth core dam built on thick overburden was carried out with large deformation FE method. The mechanical behavior of the connection part was detail studied. It can be drawn that there is little differences in dam integral deformation for different analysis method, but big differences were found at the connection part. The large deformation analysis method can reasonably describe the process that concrete wall penetrates into soil. The high plasticity clay has stronger ability to adapt to large uneven deformation which can reduce stress level, and stress state of concrete wall is also improved. The scope of high plasticity clay zone in the connection part can be determined according to stress level of soils and penetration depth of concrete wall.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 생체이식형 초저전력 MICS RF 트랜시버 설게에 대해 다룬다. 400 MHz MICS 표준은 WBAN 무선 센서 시스템 구현을 위해, 인체 내 전파적 특성 및 주변 네트워크와의 간접 최소화하며 고려되었다. 본 논문은 MICS 표준에 부합하는 시스템 및 송수신기 설계를 위한 link budget 및 다양한 송수신 아키텍쳐, 초저전력 송수신기 회로기법을 포함한다.

고령자를 위한 에너지 소비 추정 및 낙상 측정 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Estimation of Energy Expenditure and falls measurement system for the elderly)

  • 고령화 사회에 진입하면서, 고령자 사고 중 낙상이 차지하는 비율은 연령의 증가에 따라 높아지고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 고령자의 인체 활동 중 에너지 소비 추정 및 낙상의 유무를 판별하기 위하여 단일 칩으로 구성된 3축 가속도 센서와 다채널을 고려한 2.4GHz대역의 RF 칩을 이용하여 설계하였다. 제안하는 시스템은 인체 활동을 측정할 수 있는 신호 측정부와 RF통신부로 구성되어 있으며, 인체 활동 측정부는 인체 활동 중 소비된 에너지를 추정하고 고령자의 낙상 상태를 파악하기 위한 것으로 3축 가속도 센서를 활용하여 센서의 신호를 분석함으로써 인체 활동 및 낙상의 유무를 판별한다. RF통신부는 nRF24L01p로 구현하고, 프로세서는 저전력 8bit 마이크로 컨트롤러인 ATmega88로 구성한다. 에너지 소비를 추정한 결과 트레드밀과 비교시 제안하는 시스템과 7.8%의 오차를 보여 인체 활동 중 에너지 소비를 추정할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다. 인체활동과 낙상 검출을 위한 모니터링은 신호 벡터크기(Signal Vector Magnituge, SVM) 및 신호 크기 범위(Signal Magnitude Area, SMA)의 임계값으로 판별하며 무구속적 측정에 의한 판단이 가능하도록 구성하였다.

역도 인상동작 성공 시 최대 바벨무게 예측 (The Forecasting a Maximum Barbell Weight of Snatch Technique in Weightlifting)

  • The purpose of this study was to predict the failure or success of the Snatch-lifting trial as a consequence of the stand-up phase simulated in Kane's equation of motion that was effective for the dynamic analysis of multi-segment. This experiment was a case study in which one male athlete (age: 23yrs, height: 154.4cm, weight: 64.5kg) from K University was selected The system of a simulation included a multi-segment system that had one degree of freedom and one generalized coordinate for the shank segment angle. The reference frame was fixed by the Nonlinear Trans formation (NLT) method in order to set up a fixed Cartesian coordinate system in space. A weightlifter lifted a 90kg-barbell that was 75% of subject's maximum lifting capability (120kg). For this study, six cameras (Qualisys Proreflex MCU240s) and two force-plates (Kistler 9286AAs) were used for collecting data. The motion tracks of 11 land markers were attached on the major joints of the body and barbell. The sampling rates of cameras and force-plates were set up 100Hz and 1000Hz, respectively. Data were processed via the Qualisys Track manager (QTM) software. Landmark positions and force-plate amplitudes were simultaneously integrated by Qualisys system The coordinate data were filtered using a fourth-order Butterworth low pass filtering with an estimated optimum cut-off frequency of 9Hz calculated with Andrew & Yu's formula. The input data of the model were derived from experimental data processed in Matlab6.5 and the solution of a model made in Kane's method was solved in Matematica5.0. The conclusions were as follows; 1. The torque motor of the shank with 246Nm from this experiment could lift a maximum barbell weight (158.98kg) which was about 246 times as much as subject's body weight (64.5kg). 2. The torque motor with 166.5 Nm, simulated by angular displacement of the shank matched to the experimental result, could lift a maximum barbell weight (90kg) which was about 1.4 times as much as subject's body weight (64.5kg). 3. Comparing subject's maximum barbell weight (120kg) with a modeling maximum barbell weight (155.51kg) and with an experimental maximum barbell weight (90kg), the differences between these were about +35.7kg and -30kg. These results strongly suggest that if the maximum barbell weight is decided, coaches will be able to provide further knowledge and information to weightlifters for the performance improvement and then prevent injuries from training of weightlifters. It hopes to apply Kane's method to other sports skill as well as weightlifting to simulate its motion in the future study.

Design of Ergonomic Front-Entry Sitting Toilet System for People using Wheelchairs

  • Objective:The objective of this study is to develop an ergonomic toilet system along with constituent facilities that can be used with the front-entry sitting method when transferring from wheelchair to the toilet stool, instead of using the back-entry sitting method which is currently used. This system can offer more ease, convenience and safety for wheelchair users when using the restroom. Background: For users with disabilities, even a dedicated handicapped toilet requires maneuvering, especially when in a wheelchair. To transfer from wheelchair to the current back-entry sitting toilet, users need to get closer to the toilet and then turn or twist after erecting their body to get onto the toilet. This method induces inconvenience as well as secondary injury by falling when transferring to/from toilet. Method: To design a front-entry sitting toilet system, an ergonomics approach was applied which introduces a new design concept for people using wheelchairs. Using this toilet system, the wheelchair users don't need to turn or twist but can simply slide forward off the wheelchair directly onto the toilet stool in an easier and safer way. Results: The newly developed front-entry sitting toilet system is easier and safer for wheelchair users, and also space efficient requiring only two-thirds of the space of existing handicapped toilet. It is also usable by both individuals with disabilities and the general population. Conclusion: With the spread of the front-entry sitting toilet system developed in this study, wheelchair users can benefit from enhanced convenience and safety as well as significant restroom space savings. Additional effects can also be achieved such as improved self-esteem of people with disabilities by enabling to use the toilet on their own. Application: The newly developed front-entry sitting toilet system should enhance toilet accessibility to wheelchair users and the elderly. Introduction is needed with efforts at the national policy level and a macroscopic objective to promote the health and safety of the handicapped.

케이슨방파제 부착 OWC-MB 복합형 파력발전시스템 성능해석 (Performance Analysis of OWC-MB Hybrid Wave Energy Harvesting System Attached at Caisson Breakwater)

  • 기존 케이슨방파제 외해 측에 수로를 설치하고 수로 내에 부유체를 설치한 파력발전시스템에 대해서 연구하였다. 이 시스템은 중복파를 기진력으로 활용하고, 수로 내 수주와 부유체의 공진현상을 이용하여 에너지 추출효율 극대화할 목적으로 제안되었다(Park et al., 2014). 선형파 이론에 기초한 Galerkin 유한요소 모델(Park, 1991)을 이용하여 제안된 발전시스템의 성능을 평가한 결과, 기존의 타 시스템에 비하여 우수한 발전효율을 보임과 수로 내 수주의 공진현상이 성능에 지배적인 영향을 미침을 확인하였다. 또한, 수로와 부이 주변에서 발생하는 유체 점성감쇠가 발전효율에 미치는 영향이 커 이를 최소화하는 노력이 필요한 것으로 평가되었다.
