철환원 박테리아에 의한 금속 환원 및 광물형성 (Metal Reduction and Mineral formation by fe(III)-Reducing Bacteria Isolated from Extreme Environments)

  • 미생물에 의한 금속이온의 환원은 탄소와 금속의 생지화학적 순환에 영향을 줄 뿐만 아니라 또한 금속, 방사성원소, 그리고 유기물로 오염된 지하수와 토양의 정화에 있어서 중요한 역할 가능성을 시사하고 있다. 지구의 극한 환경(예: 심해저 퇴적, 알칼리성 호수 등)에서 서식하는 철환원 박테리아를 분리하여 금속이온의 환원과 광물 형성 등의 실험에 이용하여 본 결과에 의하면, 이들 철환원 박테리아는 Fe(III), Mn(IV), Cr(VI), Co(III), and U(VI)이온 등을 환원시킬 뿐만 아니라, 자철석($Fe_3$$O_4$), 능철석($FeCO_3$), 방해석($CaCO_3$), 능망간석($MnCO_3$), 비비아나이트 [$Fe_3$($PO_4$)$_2$ .$8H_2$O], 우라니나이트(UO) 등의 광물을 형성한다. 철 환원 박테리아에 의한 광물 형성과 금속이온의 환원에 영향을 미치는 주요소는 대기의 조성, 화학 조성, 및 박테리아의 종이다. 호열성 철환원 박테리아는 철수화물과 금속이온(Co, Cr, Ni) 등을 동시에 환원시켜 금속 치환된 자철석을 합성하며, 또한 석탄회 등을 이용하여 탄산염 광물을 형성하여 대기 중의 이산화탄소를 고정하는 역할을 하기도 한다. 따라서 미생물에 의한 금속이온이 환원은 자연계에서 철과 탄소의 지화학적인 순환에 영향 미치며, 또한 미생물에 의한 자철석의 합성은 산업적으로 많은 이용가치가 있을 것으로 본다.

PZT 세라믹스에 있어서 길이진동모드의 경시변화 (Aging of Length-Extensional Vibration Modes in PZT Ceramics)

  • Aging stabilities of the operating frequency of piezoelectric devices such as filter, oscillator and discriminator are very important. In this study it was studied aging stabilities of the length-extensional vibration mode of Pb(Zr$\^$y/O$_3$+ x[wt%]Cr$_2$Co$_3$ ceramics. PZT ceramics in morphotropic phase boundary have higher aging rates of k$\_$31/ and resonance frequency than those in tetragonal phase or rhombohedral phase. Thermal aging moves the composition with maximum aging rate to Zr-rich side in Cr$_2$O$_3$ not added PZT system. In the PZT system, aging rates of k$\_$31/ and resonance frequency for first 30 days are bigger than those for the following 90 days. Thermal aging decrease those for first 30 days. Aging rate of resonance frequency of the ceramics with x=0.1, y=0.53 and x=0.3, y=0.53 increased by thermal aging.

Influence of Dysprosia Addition on Microstructure and Electrical Properties of Praseodymia-based Zinc Oxide Varistors

  • The microstructure and electrical properties of varistor ceramics, which are composed of Zn-Pr­Co-Cr-Dy-oxide system, were investigated at various dysprosia $(Dy_2O_3)$ addition contents. The $DY_2O_3$ microstructurally played the role of inhibition for the densification and grain growth. As the $DY_2O_3$ content increased, the density decreased in the range of $5.51-4.90 g/cm^3$, reaching maximum at $0.5 mol\%$ and the average ZnO grain size decreased in the range of $17.7-6.0{\mu}m$. The incorporation of $DY_2O_3$ significantly improved the nonlinear properties of varistors, above 30 in nonlinear exponent, compared with that without $DY_2O_3$. The varistors with the best performance of nonlinear properties was obtained $DY_2O_3$ content of $1.0 mol\%$, 49 in nonlinear exponent and $0.5{\mu}A$ in leakage current.

페놀의 촉매오존산화 반응에 관한 연구 (Catalytic Ozonation of Phenol)

  • 본 논문에서는 실험실적 규모의 순환형 회분식 반응기에서 수용액상 phenol을 처리하기 위해 $O_3/UV$ radiation, $O_3/Mg(OH)_2/UV$ radiation 그리고 $O_3/MgO/UV$ radiation 고급산화공정(AOPs)에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 오존의 유량은 1.0 L/min, 오존 농도를 $150{\pm}10mg/L$로 일정하게 유지 하였으며, 산화반응에 나타나는 $COD_{Cr}$ 및 TOC를 각각 측정하였다. $20^{\circ}C$에서 $O_3/UV$ radiation, $O_3/Mg(OH)_2/UV$ radiation 그리고 $O_3/MgO/UV$ radiation에 대한 유사 1차 반응속도 상수는 각각 $9.31{\times}10^{-5}sec^{-1}$, $1.19{\times}10^{-4}sec^{-1}$ 그리고 $1.79{\times}10^{-4}sec^{-1}$, 활성화 에너지는 각각 $3.03kcal{\cdot}mol^{-1}$, $1.79kcal{\cdot}mol^{-1}$ 그리고 $4.23kcal{\cdot}mol^{-1}$ 로 나타났다. 수용액상에서 $Mg(OH)_2$와 MgO가 phenol의 분해와 COD의 제거에 현저한 촉진작용을 나타낸다는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 실험 결과에 기초하여 $O_3/MgO/UV$ 시스템이 수용액상 phenol을 처리하기 위한 효율적이고 용이한 방법임을 제시하였다.

  • Effects on sintering and electrical properties of $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3}Cr_{0.9}Co_{0.1}O_{3-{\delta}}$ system, a interconnect material for cylindrical and flat tubular solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), have been investigated by Ca-source when using $CaCO_3$ and $CaF_2$. When using $CaCO_3$ and $CaF_2$ was mixing as Ca-source, single phased perovskite solid solution was observed for each sample. The sintering temperature was decreased by $CaF_2$ contents was increased. When using 0.1 mole $CaF_2$ was densely sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ and relative density was 93.8%. Also, electrical conductivity in oxidation and reducing atmosphere was 47, 4.3 S/cm, respectively, due to $F^-$ ion enhance the electrical conductivity in reducing atmosphere.

Thermodynamic Evaluation of Fe Effect on Alumina Solubility in Orthopyroxene coexisting with Garnet

  • In the FMAS system the effect of iron on alumina solubility in orthopyroxene has been determined by experiments with crystalline starting mixtures of garnet and orthopyroxene of known initial compositions at 20 kb, 975$^{\circ}C$ and 25 kb, 1,200$^{\circ}C$. These data have been modeled to develop a thermodynamic method for the calculation of Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ in orthopyroxene as a function of P, T and composition. The direct application of the alumina solubility data in the MAS system to natural assemblages could lead to significant overestimation of pressure, probably by about 5kb for the relatively common garnet-lherzolites with abot 25 mol per cent Ca + Fe$^{2+}$ in garnet and about 1 wt. per cent Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ in orthopyroxene since the effect of Fe is similar to that of Ca and Cr$^{3+}$in reducing the alumina solubility in orthopyroxene in equilibrum with garnet relative to that in the MAS system.

$LaMnO_3$ 의 첨가가 PZT의 소결현상 및 전기적 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of $LaMnO_3$ Addition on Sintering Phenomena and Electro-mechanical Properties of PZT)

  • The sintering phenomena and piezoelectric properties of PZT ceramics of composition $Pb(Zr_{0.54} Ti_{0.46})O_3$ were investigated when a small quantity of $La_2O_3$ , $LaMnO_3$, $LaCrO_3$ were added. The unwanted chemical composition change in PZT during sinterin porces du to PbO evaporation poses a severe problem in PZt manufacturinig. It is observed tat an addition of small amount of $LaMnO_3$ to PZT markedly decreases the evaporation of PbO during sintering . The green compact of (1-x) PZT.xLaMnO3(x=0.02~0.10) could be sintered of under O2 atmosphere alone with no significant loss of PbO. The planar coupling factor kp of the sintered $0.98Pb(Zr_{0.54} Ti_{0.46})O_{3.0.02}LaMnO}3$ is similar to that of commercial PZT 6A. Microstructure investigation shows that part of sintering process of $Pb(Zr, Ti)O_3$.$LaMnO_3$ system progresses via liquid phase sintering. It is believed that the evaporation of PbO in PZT sintering is restricted by the addition of $LaMnO_3$ due to the above phenomena. Furthermore the solid solution of $LaMnO_3$ in PZT causes diffuses phase transition.

Speciation of Chromium in Water Samples with Homogeneous Liquid-Liquid Extraction and Determination by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

  • A novel method was developed for the speciation of chromium in natural water samples based on homogeneous liquid-liquid extraction and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). In this method, Cr(III) reacts with a new Schiff's base ligand to form the hydrophobic complex, which is subsequently entrapped in the sediment phase, whereas Cr(VI) remained in aqueous phase. The Cr(VI) assay is based on its reduction to Cr(III) by the addition of sodium sulfite to the sample solution. Thus, separation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) could be realized. Homogeneous liquid-liquid extraction based on the pH-independent phase-separation process was investigated using a ternary solvent system (water-tetrabutylammonium ion ($TBA^+$)-chloroform) for the preconcentration of chromium. The phase separation phenomenon occurred by an ion-pair formation of TBA and perchlorate ion. Then sedimented phase was separated using a $100\;{\mu}L$ micro-syringe and diluted to 1.0 mL with ethanol. The sample was introduced into the flame by conventional aspiration. After the optimization of complexation and extraction conditions such as pH = 9.5, [ligand] = $1.0{\times}10^{-4}\;M$, [$TBA^+$] = $2.0{\times}10^{-2}\;M$, [$CHCl_3$] = $100.0\;{\mu}L$ and [$ClO_4$] = $2.0{\times}10{-2}\;M$, a preconcentration factor (Va/Vs) of 100 was obtained for only 10 mL of the sample. The relative standard deviation was 2.8% (n = 10). The limit of detection was sufficiently low and lie at ppb level. The proposed method was applied for the extraction and determination of chromium in natural water samples with satisfactory results.

DIAGNOSTICS OF PLASMA INDUCED IN Nd:YAG LASER WELDING OF ALUMINUM ALLOY

  • The dynamic behavior of Al-Mg alloys plasma was very unstable and this instability was closely related to the unstable motion of keyhole during laser irradiation. The keyhole fluctuated both in size and shape and its fluctuation period was about 440 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. This instability has been estimated to be caused by the evaporation phenomena of metals with different boiling point and latent heats of vaporization. Therefore, the authors have conducted the spectroscopic diagnostics of plasma induced in the pulsed YAG laser welding of Al-Mg alloys in air and argon atmospheres. In the air environment, the identified spectra were atomic lines of Al, Mg, Cr, Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn, and singly ionized Mg line, as well as strong molecular spectrum of AlO, MgO and AIH. It was confirmed that the resonant lines of Al and Mg were strongly self-absorbed, in particular in the vicinity of pool surface. The self-absorption of atomic Mg line was more eminent in alloys containing higher Mg. These facts showed that the laser-induced plasma was relatively a low temperature and high density metallic vapor. The intensities of molecular spectra of AlO and MgO were different each other depending on the power density of laser beam. Under the low power density irradiation condition, the MgO band spectra were predominant in intensity, while the AlO spectra became much stronger in higher power density. In argon atmosphere the band spectra of MgO and AlO completely vanished, but AlH molecular spectra was detected clearly. The hydrogen source was presumably the hydrogen solved in the base Metal, absorbed water on the surface oxide layer or H$_2$ and $H_2O$ in the shielding gas. The temporal change in spectral line intensities was quite similar to the fluctuation of keyhole. The time average plasma temperature at 1 mm high above the surface of A5083 alloy was determined by the Boltzmann plot method of atomic Cr lines of different excitation energy. The obtained electron temperature was 3, 280$\pm$150 K which was about 500 K higher than the boiling point of pure aluminum. The electron number density was determined by measuring the relative intensities of the spectra1lines of atomic and singly ionized Magnesium, and the obtained value was 1.85 x 1019 1/㎥.

1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 이용한 합성가스 조성 변화에 따른 SNG 1차반응기의 부식특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Corrosion Characteristics of 1.25Cr-0.5Mo in the 1st-mathanator reactor for Synthetic Natural Gas according to Gas Compositions)

  • 최근 급속한 플랜트 설비의 발전과 더불어 각종 기계 구조물들의 운전조건이 가혹해지고 사용시간이 길어짐에 따라 신뢰성에 대한 문제가 제기되고 있다. 특히, SNG 설비에 사용되는 재료는 설계조건에 따라 1.25Cr-0.5Mo 또는 2.25Cr-1Mo강과 같은 내열강들이 주로 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 Lab-scale용 합성천연가스 반응기를 제작하여 생산공정 반응기 재질인 1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 이용하여 실제 SNG 공정중 1차반응기와 동일한 운전 조건에서 부식 특성에 대하여 실험적 연구를 진행하였다. 1.25Cr-0.5Mo강을 운전 시간에 따라 각각 배출조성 조건과 주입조성 조건에 노출시켜 부식에 대한 실험을 수행하였으며 실험 결과 내구성에 가장 영향을 미치는 요소는 수소로 인한 수소취성과 산화 부식임을 알 수 있었으며, 배출조성보다 주입조성에서 더 빠른 부식이 발생함을 확인하였다. 그러나 배출조성 조건에서는 산화부식과 더불어 수소취성에 의한 부식이 동시에 발생하여 장시간 운전 후 부식정도가 갑자기 증가하고 부식강도가 급격히 강해지는 것을 나타났다. 또한 주입조성에서는 산화물들이 시편에 흡착되어 두꺼운 산화층을 형성시켰으며 이로 인하여 재료의 내산화성이 크게 저하되는 것으로 확인되었다.
