  • This study is a systematic review of literature to analyze the characteristics and outcome variables of intervention research programs for domestic thyroid patients. We systematically reviewed the literature published until 2019 in five domestic databases. Six of the 824 confirmed articles were extracted according to the selection criteria. The results of this study were classified into education, activities, and counseling. Education and counseling therapy had a significant effect on psychosocial and physiological variables. Activity therapy had a significant effect on physiological variables. This study presented the basis for the development and implementation of various intervention programs for domestic thyroid patients and can be used for the study of the convergence program development considering physiological and psychosocial problems of the thyroid patients.

Thwarted belongingness can be defined by the following attributes: distorted beliefs, insufficient need to belong, a sense of alienation, and insufficient interaction and affection needs. The prerequisites for thwarted belongingness were social isolation, experiences of exclusion or conflict in interpersonal relationships, perfectionist tendencies, and sensitivity to rejection. The consequences occurring as a result of thwarted belongingness were suicidal ideation, decreased happiness and life satisfaction, negative emotions such as anxiety about rejection, depression, shame, loneliness, stress or anger, aggression, hostility and self-criticism, despair, suppression of emotional expression, lethargy, self-exclusion from relationships, and identity confusion. This study is valuable to identify the extent of preventable nursing interventions related to individual mental health and suicidal ideation related to interpersonal relationships, and suggests future tool development and field studies of thwarted belongingness.

  • Purpose: This study was a comparative analysis of stroke-related factors between recurrent patients and non-recurrent patients. Methods: A retrospective cohort study design was used, and data were collected from March 2020 to April 2020 using electronic medical records. 244 patients (221 first-timers and 23 recurrent) were included in this study. Results: The stroke recurrence rate in 5 years was 9.4%, the readmission rate was 39.3%, and the mortality rate was 2.0%. The number of patients hospitalized for stroke was greater among men than among women. Of the patients, 60.7% had an underlying disease. With regard to daily life abilities, over 70% of participants needed more than moderate dependence and about 40% of participants had more than mild cognitive impairment. More than 50% were moved to wheelchairs or stretcher cars. The difference in the stroke readmission rate between recurrent and non-recurrent patients was statistically significant. Conclusions: Based on our findings, a program to prevent recurrence of stroke should be developed to considering age, ability of daily living, place of discharge, gait ability at discharge, and place of discharge.

The target of analysis is 199 articles related to nurses reported in four major domestic newspapers for 10 months from January 2020 to October 2020, when the domestic COVID-19 pandemic in full swing. As a result of the analysis, compared to the past, the volume of reports of articles related to nurses increased, and there were many articles on the topic of nurses being treated poorly compared to work, having a sense of vocation and caring for patients. There were many reports of articles that were favorable or neutral, and most of them were reporters, but few were written by professional reporters or medical personnel including nurses. Unlike previous studies, the proportion of nurses in nurse-related articles was often treated as the main character. Both the nursing and the media should make systematic and continuous efforts to ensure that accurate descriptions of the various roles and activities of nurses appear in the newspaper.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate sub-health status (SHS) of people living in China during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 is a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) infection-induced acute infectious disease, which is featured by universal susceptibility and strong infectivity, and SHS (a status of low quality health) refers to a status of low-quality health. COVID-19 has gradually developed into a global pandemic, making the public in a high stress situation in physiological, psychological and social states in the short term. Methods: From March 6 to 11, 2020, a large-scale cross-sectional survey was conducted by convenient sampling, and SHS assessment scale was used in the questionnaire. The ordinal logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors affecting SHS. Results: In this study, 17,078 questionnaires were delivered with 16,820 effective questionnaires collected, and 10,715 subjects (63.7%) were found with SHS, with moderate SHS primarily. Physiological sub-scale scored the highest, followed by psychological and social sub-scales. Ordinal logistic regression analysis indicated that man, only-child, workers and farmers were risk factors of SHS. Protective factors of SHS included living in rural areas and townships, laid-off retirees and education degree. Conclusion: It shows many people in China place in a poor health status during COVID-19 pandemic. It is necessary that relevant departments pay more attention to people with poor health such as men, only-child, urban people, workers and farmers, and groups with high education degree during and after pandemic stabilization.

Data were collected from 30 C university students in C city, from March 1st to July 15th, 2020. Analysis was done using IBM SPSS 25.0 for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, and paired t-test. Creative problem solving ability was enhanced by an average of 0,63 points (p<.001), critical thinking tendency by 1.06 points (p<.001), self-leadership by 0,53 points (p<.001), and self-control by an average of 0.51 points, so was statistically significant (p=.001). Writing using media had the effect of improving creativity and integration capabilities. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the development of educational programs for creativity and integration enhancement at university-level. Also, follow-up studies on the effectiveness of writing education by utilizing web media as text and tools simultaneously and customized university-level writing education utilizing media are required.

  • Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which has occurred since the end of 2019, has caused tremendous damage not only in terms of disease and death but also in terms of economy. Accordingly, governments implemented health and quarantine policies to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19 and minimize economic effects, and implemented various countermeasures to reduce social and economic damage. However, the damage varies from country to country, and there are differences in the response of each government. Methods: Using 2020 data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries, the effectiveness of governments' quarantine and economic policies in response to COVID-19 was calculated, and what factors determine the effectiveness were analyzed. While most of the previous studies analyzed the relationship between the government's quarantine policy and corona transmission and death, this study is characterized by considering the economic aspect in addition. Results: As a result of the analysis, the following results were obtained. First, when economic aspects are not considered, Asian and European countries have similar levels of efficiency, but when economic aspects are taken into account, Asian countries have higher efficiency. Second, population density had a negative effect on the efficiency of each country's policy, and long-term orientation was found to have an important impact when considering the economic aspect. Conclusion: We found that the governance index is an important variable influencing the efficiency, which shows that the effectiveness of government policies in response to the coronavirus depends heavily on the trust relationship between the government and the people.

  • This descriptive survey aimed to investigate the health promotion behaviors of patients with reflux esophagitis and identify the factors influencing it using the health promotion model. The survey was conducted with 178 outpatients diagnosed with reflux esophagitis at C university hospital. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS win ver 20. We found that alcohol consumption, BMI, perceived benefit, internal control level, and perceived health status of the patients are significant factors influencing health promotion behavior. The explanatory power was 49%. Therefore, this study is consistent with previous studies that elucidated that changing lifestyle behaviors and obesity control are necessary to alleviate reflux esophagitis. Based on these findings, we propose to develop and apply an educational program for evaluation.
