Purpose: As Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) has increasingly been proven as a means of cost-effective and higher-quality healthcare, its successful implementing are challenging. This study done to identify EBP beliefs, knowledge and performance among nurses experienced as a preceptor. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 249 preceptor nurses working in 9 general hospitals in Korea. Reliable and valid questionnaires (EBP beliefs scale, Evidence Based Practice Questionnaire, Research-related activities) were used and the data were analyzed using SPSS win 17.0. Result: Perceived beliefs on EBP were relatively positive (mean score 3.57 out of 5), and the level of knowledge was moderate (4.21 out of 7). However, performance of EBP was low (3.82 out of 7). Regularity in reading research journals and searching evidences using core web-database were rarely conducted. Statistically significant correlations were found between beliefs, knowledge and performance of EBP (all p<.05). Conclusions: This result indicates that education and training programs to facilitate EBP performance are needed among preceptor nurses.
The purpose of this study was to analyse the level of recognition and performance of clinical nurses about the prevention of nosocomial infection. Subjects of the study were 425 nurses working at two university hospitals. Self report questionnaires were used to measure the level of recognition and performance about the prevention of nosocomial infection. These instruments had five dimensions of the management of nosocomial infection : hand washing, fluid therapy, foley catheterization, respiratory tract, and aseptic articles. Reliability coefficients of these instruments were found Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.94-.95$. Data were collected from August 1 to August 15, 2000. The results of the study were as follows : 1) The mean score of the recognition scores about the management of nosocomial infection was 3.89. 2) The mean score of the performance about the management of nosocomial infection was 3.42. 3) The mean score of the recognition about the management of nosocomial infection was significantly higher than the performance score(t=25.72. p<.001). 4) There was significant difference in the score of the recognition about managment in nosocomial infection according to nurses working unit(p<.001).
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine psychological empowerment and awareness and performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections(HAIs) control among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. Method: The data for this study were collected using structured questionnaires from 178 nurses working in the ICUs of four hospitals with more than 500 beds. Results: The subjects'psychological empowerment, awareness and performance of HAIs control were mean over. The subjects'psychological empowerment showed statistically significant differences depending on age, marital status, academic background, clinical career, ICU career, and position and experience in infection control among their general characteristics. Awareness of HAIs control showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, clinical career, and ICU career. Performance showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, and, ICU career. Regarding the subjects' performance of HAIs control, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between psychological empowerment and awareness. Conclusion: It was found that it is necessary to strengthen differential customized training according to the subjects'characteristics for effective HAIs control, and to strengthen the nurses'awareness of HAIs control through systematic evaluation, monitoring, and feedback, as well as continuous education and training.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to assess hospital nurses' knowledge, importance and performance in keeping nursing records. Methods: The research design was a descriptive study. The sample for this study was 186 nurses with at least one year of work experience at a hospital with more than 800 beds in Seoul. Knowledge was self-reported using the Nurse Charting Knowledge Scale. Importance and performance were rated on a 4-point scale of 26 items. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program and IPA. Results: This study showed significant results that knowledge, importance and performance for keeping record are related to each other. The importance and performance of nurse's records were relatively higher than the mean. In the IPA Matrix, there were 2 items requiring improvement, 13 items requiring maintenance, and 11 items with low priority. Conclusion: Therefore, awareness of the importance of record keeping and continuous education on nursing record knowledge should be provided so that nurses can improve their record keeping skills.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing nursing performance of clinical nurses. Methods: This was a descriptive study involving 172 nurses who worked for 6 months or longer at one general hospital in B City. The data analysis was conducted with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Nursing performance of participants positively correlated with job stress (r=.16, p=.033). The factors affecting nursing performance were total clinical experience (β=.37 p<.001), salary (β=.19, p=.028), and job stress (β=.13, p=.045). These variables had a 27.2% variance to explain nursing performance. Conclusion: Based on these results, administrative and financial support are required for the development of a clinical career program, including the differentiation of salary systems of clinical nurses. There is also a need to develop and implement job stress management and coping programs.
Purpose: This study examined the effect of emotional intelligence, job stress, and communication ability on nursing performance of nurses caring for cancer patients. Methods: This is a descriptive study involving 185 nurses with an experience of longer than 6 months at K university hospital in B metropolitan city. The data was collected from March 2nd 2021 to March 31st 2021, and analyzed using the descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The factors affect the nursing performance of participants were emotional intelligence, total clinical career, communication ability, job stress and satisfaction of current department. The total explanatory power of those variables on the nursing performance was 43.8%. Conclusion: In order to improve nursing performance, it is necessary to apply a program for improving emotional intelligence and communication ability, and for controlling and coping with job stress, considering the career of a nurse taking care for cancer patients. In addition, efficient manpower management and material support at the hospital organization level are required.
Hospitals accomodate patients who have a high risk of infection due to reduced immunity as well as people who require surgical, medical or other treatments. Consequently, the role of clinical nurses, who come into close contact with these patients is very important in the control of nosocomial infection. This study was done to investigate and compare the level of perception of the importance of the control of nosocomial infections as well as the level of actual performance, and the level of satisfaction with the control of nosocomial infection by the clinical nurses. Thus, the purpose of this study is to contribute basic data for improving policies and educational programs to control nosocomial infection. A summary of the survey results is as follows. 1) The means of scores on all categories of the inquiry were 4. 51 for awareness 4.42 for actual performance, and 3.20 for satisfaction, of a possible high score of 5.00. 2) Correlations of the level of perception of importance between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection differed significantly according to the type of hospital establishment type (p=.005), age(p=.000), career(p=.000), position (p=.002), and regular conferences on infection control in working departments(p=.003), Correlation of the level of actual performance between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection diffesed significantly according to type of hospital(p=.000), hospital size (p=.009), working department(p=.000), age(p=.000), career (p=.000), school career(p=.040), position (p=.000), education experience on nosocomial infection(p=.020), and regular conferences on infection control in working department(p=.000). Correlation of degree of satisfaction between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection also differed significantly according to the type of hospital establishment (p=.003), working department(p=.000), age (p=.000), and regular conferences on infection control in working department (p=.000). 3) Correlation between clinical nurses, level of perception of importance and actual level of performance for the control of nosocomial infection was relatively positive (r=.57, p=.000). Correlation between clinical nurses degree of satisfaction and level of actual performance for control of nosocomial infection was relatively positive (r=.47, p=.000). Correlation between clinical nurses, level of perception of importance and degree of satisfaction degree with the control of nosocomial infection was also relatively positive (r=.27, p=.000).
The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare job satisfaction, job stress, and nursing task performance for nursing and nursing integrated service wards and general ward nurses to provide basic data for efficient nursing manpower management in nursing and nursing integrated service wards. For comparative research. The subjects were 136 nurses in the nursing and nursing integrated service ward and general ward nurses at a general hospital in D metropolitan area. There was no significant difference between the groups in the job satisfaction, job stress, and nursing task performance of the nursing and nursing integrated service ward nurses and general ward nurses. The performance was high. Factors influencing the performance of nursing tasks were job satisfaction and job stress, with 20.6% of nurses in nursing and nursing integrated service wards and 47.5% of nurses in general wards. Purpose: This study attempted to understand patients' and nurses' perspectives on the priority of rehabilitation nursing services using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). Methods: This study used descriptive research design. Data were collected from 121 patients and 144 nurses using self-reported questionnaires. Statistical analysis included an independent t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and IPA conducted using SPSS/WIN 21.0 version. Results: There were no statistical differences between the patients' and nurses' mean scores on perceptions of the importance (t=-0.83, p=.409) and performance (t=-0.32, p=.751) of rehabilitation nursing services. The IPA matrix showed a difference between patients and nurses in terms of their perceived priority of nursing services. Regarding the perception of patients, "helping a patient to continue to practice bedside physiotherapy and occupational therapy", "providing information on the proper care agency and community resources", and "providing education for the prevention of complications" fell in the "concetrate here" area (2nd quadrant). Conclusion: The results showed that the priorities of patients and nurses did not match in terms of some of the rehabilitation nursing services. Thus, rehabilitation nursing services need to be provided based on the patients' needs. Allocation of resources for the service items that fell in the "concentrate here" area of the IPA need be reconsidered for the quality in nursing care.
