Bite force is created by the force of adjacent teeth accompanied with tension of masticatory muscle. The bite force value is greater in male than in female and ha maximum value at first molar. Masseter muscle is associated with bite force and during muscle contraction the electric signal is expressed in EMG form. The aim of the study is to assess recovery time for masseter muscle activity and according to each part of bite force after open reduction with internal fixation when mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture occurred. And to determine the appropriate period for mandibular fracture patients to have normal masticatory activity. 30 patients with normal bite condition was selected for control group and from April, 2007 to September, 2007, 20 patients who visited our department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of Dankook University, were selected for the study and were diagnosed as mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture. For control group, the bite force for incisors, canine, premolars and molars and activity of the masseter muscle was measured and compared for 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 weeks. That was divided as fracture side and normal side. Mann-Whitney U test was performed for significant difference and the following result was obtained. 1. The maximum voluntary bite force for incisors, canine, premolars and molars portion were 0.113 kN, 0.182kN, 0.295kN and 0.486kN and the masseter muscle activity was 0.192 volts in the control group. 2. The maximum bite force at fracture side was recovered by 4th weeks for incisors, 6th weeks for canine and premolars and 8th weeks for molars and the masseter muscle activity was recovered by 6th weeks in the experimental group. 2. The maximum bite force at normal side was recovered by 4th weeks for incisors, 6th weeks for canine, premolars and molars and the masseter muscle activity was recovered by 3rd weeks in the experimental group. 3. The method for internal fixation by 2.0mm miniplates at both superior and inferior border had no complications according for twenty patients and had a satisfactory recovery. According to the result, patient with mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture, 8 weeks was required for bite force recovery. Therefore, patients with open reduction and internal fixation under general anesthesis, it can be assumed that 8 weeks was needed after operation in order to have normal bite force and masseter muscle recovery.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the distribution and differences of the cephalometric measurements between normal occlusion and the class III malocclusion. Kim's analysis was achieved and compared on both the 141 elementary school students with proper profile and normal occlusion and the class III malocclusion group at the age of 7 to 9, in Gwang-ju area and the results were as follows; 1. The ODI, APDI, IIA, UL showed statistically significant differences between normal occlusion and class III malocclusion(p<0.01). But, no significant difference existed in both CF and EI. 2. The mean value of ODI was 72.62, APDI 80.47 IIA 121.37 in normal occlusion. 3. The mean value of ODI was 64.45, APDI 87.31 IIA 129.89 in class III malocclusion. 4. ODI decreased as APDI increased, and the correlation coefficient was -0.576 in both normal occlusion and class III malocclusion. 5. The correlation coefficient related to EI was CF 0.777, LL -0.670, UL -0.588, IIA 0.485. It means that UL and LL were very sensitively reflected on EI.
In our recent report on gene expression in gastric cancer we identified the endo-sulfatase Sulf-1 gene to be up-regulated in gastric tumors relative to apparently normal (AN), and paired normal (PN) gastric tissue samples. In the present report we investigate the protein expression levels of Sulf-1 gene in gastric tumors, AN and PN samples using tissue microarray (TMA) and immunohistochemistry. Expression data was collected from two sets of TMA's containing replicate sections of tissue samples. Scoring data from TMA set-1 revealed a significant difference in Sulf-1 immunoreactivity between tumors and "normals" (PN and AN) (p-value = 0.001928). Also, Sulf-1 expression in tumors was also significantly different from either PN (p-value = 0.019) or AN (p-value = 0.006) samples. Similar results were obtained from analysis of scoring data from the second set of arrays. Comparison of mRNA expression and protein expression in gastric tumor tissues revealed that in 6/20 (30%) tumor samples showed up-regulated protein expression concordant with over-expression of mRNA. However, a discord with mRNA being over-expressed relative to down regulated protein expression was observed in majority 14/20 (70%) of tumor samples. Our study indicates down regulation of Sulf-1 protein expression in gastric tumors relative to PN and AN samples which is discordant with mRNA over-expression seen in tumors.

Control Chart is a graph which dots the characteristic values of a process. It is the tool of statistical technique to keep a process in controlled condition. It is also used for investigating the state of a process. Therefore many companies have used Control Chart as the tool of statistical process control (SPC). Products from a production process represent accidental dispersion values around a certain reference value. Fluctuations cause of quality dispersion is classified as a chance cause and a assignable cause. Chance cause refers unmanageable practical cause such as operator proficiency differences, differences in work environment, etc. Assignable cause refers manageable cause which is possible to take actions to remove such as operator inattention, error of production equipment, etc. Traditionally ${\bar{x}}-R$ control chart or ${\bar{x}}-s$ control chart is used to find and remove the error cause. Traditional control chart is to determine whether the measured data are in control or not, and lets us to take action. On the other hand, RNELCC (Reflected Normal Expected Loss Control Chart) is a control chart which, even in controlled state, indicates the information of economic loss if a product is in inconsistent state with process target value. However, contaminated process can cause control line sensitive and cause problems with the detection capabilities of chart. Many studies on robust estimation using trimmed parameters have been conducted. We suggest robust RNELCC which used the idea of trimmed parameters with RNEL control chart. And we demonstrate effectiveness of new control chart by comparing with ARL value among traditional control chart, RNELCC and robust RNELCC.

In this paper, we propose a hearing impairment simulator considering reduced frequency selectivity and asymmetrical auditory filter of the hearing impaired, and we verified the reduced frequency selectivity and asymmetrical auditory filter affected in speech perception through experiments. The reduced frequency selectivity has made embodied by spectral smearing using LPC(linear prediction coding). The shapes of auditory filter are asymmetrical different with each center frequency. Hearing impaired person which has hearing loss was differently changed with that of normal hearing people and it has different value for speech of quality through auditory filter. The experiments confirmed subjective test and objective test. The subjective experiments are composed of 4 kinds of tests: pure tone test, SRT(speech reception threshold) test, and WRS(word recognition score) test without spectral smearing, and WRS test with spectral smearing. The experiment of the hearing impairment simulator was performed from 9 subjects who have normal ears. The amount of spectral smearing was controlled by LPC order. The asymmetrical auditory filter of proposed hearing impairment simulator was simulated and then some tests to estimate the filter's performance objectively were performed. The objective experiment as simulated auditory filter's performance evaluation method used PESQ(perceptual evaluation of speech quality) and LLR(log likelihood ratio) for speech through auditory filter. The processed speech was evaluated objective speech quality and distortion using PESQ and LLR value. When hearing loss processed, PESQ and LLR value have big difference according to asymmetrical auditory filter in hearing impairment simulator.
This study was conducted to investigate the reference value of mercury (Hg) in liver and kidney of Korean population. The mercury concentration in 244‘sudden and unexpected death’autopsies (male: 180, female: 64) aged from 0 to 87 years was analyzed. The concentration of mercury was measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Perkin-Elmer Model 5100) with mercury/hydride generating system (FIAS 400). The contents of mercury in liver and kidney fitted well the log-normal distribution rather than normal distribution. Geometric mean concentration of mercury in liver and kidney was 0.115 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g wet weight and 0.149 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g wet weight, respectively. Geometric mean concentration of mercury in female was higher than in male (p < 0.01). The mercury content in liver and kidney increased with age up to the forties and slightly decreased there-after. The regression model of mercury deposit in liver and kidney by age was predicted as the following equation : Log LHg : -1.0576+0.0045$.$Age-0.0001$.$Age$^2$+0.0873$.$Sex, Log KHg = -1.0576+0.0152$.$Age-0.0002$.$Age$^2$+0.1935$.$Sex. The liver burden of mercury was estimated to be 158.3∼161.3 $\mu\textrm{g}$ in male and 163.0∼166.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$ in female. The kidney burden of mercury was estimated to be 42.0∼42.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$ in male and 55.5∼57.1 $\mu\textrm{g}$ in female.

The most useful financial risk measure may be VaR (Value at Risk) which estimates the maximum loss amount statistically. The VaR tends to be estimated in many industries by using transformed univariate risk including variance-covariance matrix and a specific portfolio. Hong et al. (2016) are defined the Vector at Risk based on the multivariate quantile vector. When a specific portfolio is given, one point among Vector at Risk is founded as the best VaR which is called as an alternative VaR (AVaR). In this work, AVaRs have been investigated for multivariate normal distributions with many kinds of variance-covariance matrix and various portfolio weight vectors, and compared with VaRs. It has been found that the AVaR has smaller values than VaR. Some properties of AVaR are derived and discussed with these characteristics.

The SBR(Sequencing Batch Reactor) process is ideally suited to treat high loading wastewater due to its high dilution rate. SBR operates by a cycle of periods consisting of filling, reacting, settling, decanting and idling. The react phases such as aeration or non-aeration, organic oxidation, nitrification, denitrification and other bio-logical reactions can be achieved in a reactor. Although the whole reactions can be achieved in a SBR with time distributing, it is hard to manage the SBR as a normal condition without recognizing a present state. The present state can be observed with nutrient sensors such as ${NH_{4}}^{+}-N$, ${NO_{2}}^{-}-N$, ${NO_{3}}^{-}-N} and ${PO_{4}}^{ 3-}-P.$ However, there is still a disadvantage to use the nutrient sensors because of their high expense and inconvenience to manage. Therefore, it is very useful to use common on-line sensors such as DO, ORP and pH, which are less expensive and more convient. Moreover, the present states and unexpected changes of SBR might be predicted by using of them. This study was conducted to get basic materials for making an inference of SBR process from ORP(oxidation reduction potential) of synthetic wastewater. The profiles of ORP, DO, and pH were under normal nitrification and denitrification were obtained to compare abnormal condition. And also, nitrite and nitrate accumulation were investigated during reaction of SBR. The bending point on ORP profile was not entirely in the low COD/NOx ratio condition. In this case, NOx was not entirely removed, and minimum ORP value was presented over -300mV. Under suitable COD/NOx ratio which complete denitrification was achieved, ORP bending point was observed and minimum ORP value was under -300m V. Under high COD/NOx ratio, ORP bending point was not detected at the first subcycle because of the fast denitrification and minimum ORP value was under -300mV at the time.
A previous study of ours indicated that Citrus auranifoli oil possesses antifungal activity against Malassezia furfur and Malassezia pachydermatis. In this study, we evaluated the anti-M. furfur and M. pachydermatis activities of limonene, which is a major component of C. aurantifolia oil, using the disk diffusion method. We also examined cytotoxicity against human normal epithelial (Beas-2B) cells using the cytopathic effect reduction (CPE) method. The results revealed that the minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) value of limonene is lower than the value for itraconazole. The MFC value of limonene was seen to be 7.81 ${\mu}g$/mL against M. furfur and 3.90 ${\mu}g$/mL against M. pachydermatis. MFC values of itraconazole against M. furfur and M. pachydermatis were 62.50 ${\mu}g$/mL and 31.25 ${\mu}g$/mL, respectively. In addition, it was noted that limonene was not toxic to Beas-2B cells with normal morphology at a concentration of 100 ${\mu}g$/mL. However, itraconazole exhibited weak toxicity at the same concentration. Therefore, our results indicate that limonene could potentially be effective at controlling M. furfur and M. pachydermatis infections with no cytotoxicity.

The inverters used to drive Brushless DC motors (BLDC) include switching devices such as FETs and the faults in FETs cause severe performance degradation in systems where a BLDC acts as actuator. This paper presents a fault detection and isolation method for the FETs of an inverter for BLDC motor control systems, which is based on the EKF (Extended Kalman filter). Firstly, an equivalent circuit model for a BLDC motor plus its inverter system was derived. Secondly, a state-space equation was established, where the on-resistance of the FETs is expressed as a state variable and the EKF equation estimates the on-resistance. If the estimated resistance differs greatly from the known value, it can be asserted that there is a fault on that FET. Thirdly, the local convergence of the established EKF was proved. Finally, through the experiments, the performance of the proposed method was verified. The results show that the on-resistance is estimated close to the value specified in the FET data sheet in normal operation, whereas the estimated resistance is a much larger value than the normal one in case an FET fault occurs. Therefore, it is confirmed that the proposed fault detection and isolation method works appropriately in real systems.
