  • There have been many studies on the adverse effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines but the urinary incontinence after COVID-19 vaccination is rare. Here, we report an 8-year-old boy presented to outpatient department, Thai Binh University of Medicine Hospital, Thai Binh, Vietnam with complaints of urinary incontinence for the past 2 weeks, following the first dose of the messenger RNA vaccine. He had no other abnormalities in clinical and laboratory exams. This clinical situation suggested vaccine side effects. No specific treatment was administered upon diagnosis without toilet and bladder training. Subsequent monitoring revealed a gradual reduction in symptoms over 2 months, with complete recovery achieved at the 14th week from the onset of symptoms, without necessitating any medical intervention. This case highlights the need for thorough evaluation and assessment of potential adverse effects following vaccination, including uncommon presentations.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the use of computer games relating their scholastic achievements and behaviors of the first and second grade boy students in vocational high schools. The analysis based on the location of schools turned out to be meaningful because computer games seemed to deteriorate urban students' school grades more than those of the rural students. However, another analysis based on types of schools such as agricultural, technical, and commercial schools did not show any meaningful differences in their GPA(Grade Point Average). It was analyzed that such items in the given questionnaire as whether or not computer games made them less attentive to their classes, whether or not games made them put off their stud? and work, and whether or not they played computer games even during their exam periods had no meaningful results. Besides, it seemed that there was no connection between how well one plays computer games and how well he or she does at school work did not seem to be correlated. In short, most of the subjects seemed to enjoy computer games regardless of their scholastic achievements.

  • Recurrent macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is very rare. We present the case of an adolescent boy with human leukocyte antigen (HLA) B27-positive ankylosing spondylitis (AS), who experienced episodes of recurrent MAS since he was a toddler. A 16-year-old boy was admitted because of remittent fever with pancytopenia and splenomegaly after surgical intervention for an intractable perianal abscess. He had been diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) 4 different times, which was well controlled with intravenous immunoglobulin and steroids since the age of 3. We were unable to identify the cause for the HLH. He remained symptom-free until the development of back pain and right ankle joint pain with swelling at 15 years of age. He was diagnosed with HLA B27-positive AS with bilateral active sacroiliitis. He showed symptom aggravation despite taking naproxen and methotrexate, and the symptoms improved with etanercept. On admission, his laboratory data showed leukopenia with high ferritin and triglyceride levels. Bone marrow biopsy examination showed histiocytic hyperplasia with hemophagocytosis. There was no evidence of infection. He received naproxen alone, and his symptoms and laboratory data improved without any other immunomodulatory medications. Genetic study revealed no primary HLH or inflammasome abnormalities. In this case, underlying autoimmune disease should have been considered as the cause of recurrent MAS in the young patient once primary HLH was excluded.

  • Forme fruste choledochal cyst (FFCC) is one of the diverse types of choledochal cyst with little or no dilatation of the extrahepatic bile duct (EHBD). It is considered that FFCC has to do with the pancreatobiliary malunion (PBM). In children, 3 to 6 millimeters of EHBD is assumed to be normal. Even though there is no clear-cut definition, FFCC is likely to be associated with bile duct dilatation less than 10 millimeters. Almost all cases have PBMs and symptoms of the pancreatitis or cholangitis. We experienced a case of FFCC in a 4-year-old boy. His EHBD measures 10 mm diameter. He had symptoms of pancreatitis and elevated hepatic transaminases. The pancreatobiliary common channel was 28 millimeters. He underwent EHBD resection and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy and was discharged with no specific complications.

  • This study aims to investigate purchase attitude towards uniforms, wear condition and their requirements for functional school uniforms for high school boy students, and to help to present basic data for the development of functional school uniforms by reflecting requirements from high school students. First, research on school uniform brands purchased in Busan, Ulsan, and Kyungnam regions showed 2 brands were preferred, and the school uniform purchase expenses are primarily between two hundred thousand won and three hundred thousand won. Second, in terms of differences among fabrics of summer and winter uniforms, many students answered that 'they are similar' or 'there is no difference'. As for complaints about winter uniforms, thermal insulation accounts for the highest rate. As a result of research on underwear worn primarily in the winter, boy students tend to wear underwear to keep their lower bodies warm rather than their upper bodies. They tend to keep their upper bodies warm with outerwear such as vests, cardigans, and padding jumper. According to a survey on experience and satisfaction of functional uniforms, students showed satisfaction with more than three points to all questions except for two, which means their satisfaction about the functions of uniforms that they wear currently is above the average. Third, many boy students complains about the thermokeeping of winter uniforms, especially thigh parts of pants. It is required to make research for the improvement of functional pants for boy students.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dramatic play on the hyperactive-children's self concept and their hyperactivities. The subjects for this study were 144 five-year old children of Y kindergarten in Seoul. Through the Teacher-Questionary modified by Koung-ja OH(1986) 26 children were assigned to the experimental group and the control group 13 hyperactivity-children (boy:11 girl:2) in the experimental group had dramatic play of which the main themes were positive self concept formation. but the 13 children(boy:11 girl: 2) in the control group did not any dramatic activities. Experimental procedures for the self concept test and the hyperactivity test were pre-test experimental treatment and 2 times post-test by 2 months. Self concept test used for pre-test and post-test was The data was analysed using t-test and paired t-test. The result are as follows: 1. In the pre-test for self concept the scores of the control group showed higher than that of the expe imental group. But there were significantly increased difference between pre-test and the first post0-test in the experimental group. 2. In the second post-test for self concept of the experimental group after 2 months there were no significant differences between the first post-test and the second post-test. 3. In the hyperactivity test there were no significant differences in the control group,. But the experimental group showed decreased hyperactivities in the first post-test. 4. In the second post-test for the hyperactive-children's hyperactivities in the experimental group after 2 months there were no significant differences between the first post-test and the second post-test The dramatic play influenced on the hyperactive-children's self concept positively and the decrease of hyperactive-children's hyperacivities.

  • This study examined different individual and parental factors that affect children's achievement motivation. For an analysis, perceived competence, intrinsic locus of control were included in individual variables. For parental variables, parental support and achievement pressure and marital conflict were examined. The sample consisted of 561 fifth and sixth grade children. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, Factor analysis, frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlation, and Hierarchical Regression. Several major results were found from the analysis. First, girl's achievement motivation was higher than boys. No age difference was found between fifth and sixth grade. Second, boy's and girl's achievement motivation had a positive correlation with perceived competence, intrinsic locus of control, parental support and achievement pressure but a negative correlation with parental marital conflict. Third, important variables predicting boy's and girl's achievement motivation were perceived academic competence, parental achievement pressure and perceived social competence. Important variables predicting boy's individual and social oriented achievement motivation were perceived academic competence and parental achievement pressure. On the other hand, important variables predicting girl's individual oriented achievement motivation were perceived social competence, perceived academic competence, intrinsic locus of control and parental achievement pressure. Important variables predicting girl's social oriented achievement motivation were parental achievement pressure, perceived academic competence and mother's support.

  • Neuroblastomas are sometimes associated with abnormal constitutional karyotypes, but the XYY karyotype has been rarely described in neuroblastomas. Here, we report a case of an esthesioneuroblastoma in a boy with a 47, XYY karyotype. A 6-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital because of nasal obstruction and palpable cervical lymph node, which he first noticed several days previously. A polypoid mass in the right nasal cavity was detected through sinuscopy. Biopsy of the right nasal polyp was performed. Based on the result, the patient was diagnosed with a high-grade esthesioneuroblastoma. Nuclear imaging revealed increased uptake in both the right posterior nasal cavity and the right cervical IB-II space, suggesting metastatic lymph nodes. Cytogenetic analysis revealed a 47, XYY karyotype. Twelve courses of concurrent chemotherapy were administered. Three years after the completion of chemotherapy, the patient had had no disease recurrence. He manifested behavioral violence and temper tantrums, so we started methylphenidate for correction of the behavior.

  • The superficial temporal artery (STA), the terminal branch of the external carotid artery, is divided into the frontal (anterior) and parietal (posterior) branches. The frontal branch of the STA is located superficially on the anterior region of the scalp, making it especially susceptible to trauma. Here, we report a traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the STA in a 7-year-old boy who was injured in a minor car accident. A physical examination showed only a small bruise on the patient's forehead, and all vital signs were stable at the emergency room of our medical center. A facial computed tomography scan showed no significant findings. However, the boy later re-visited the hospital with slight swelling on the right forehead, and an ultrasonography scan revealed a hematoma near the right temporal artery. The resected hematoma (approximately 2 cm) was diagnosed as a traumatic pseudoaneurysm. Awareness of the possibility of a traumatic pseudoaneurysm in the STA may prevent a circumspect diagnosis in the future.

  • Central odontogenic fibroma (COF) is a rare benign tumor that accounts for 0.1% of all odontogenic tumors. A case of COF (simple type) of the mandible in a four-year-old boy is described in this report. The patient showed asymptomatic swelling in the right inferior border of the lower jaw for one week. A panoramic radiograph showed a poorly-defined destructive unilocular radiolucent area. Cone-beam computed tomography showed expansion and perforation of the adjacent cortical bone plates. A periosteal reaction with the Codman triangle pattern was clearly visible in the buccal cortex. Since the tumor had destroyed a considerable amount of bone, surgical resection was performed. No recurrence was noted.
