  • A session transfer method, referred to as a Recipient Serving-call session control function (S-CSCF) Assured (RSA), is proposed in order to support both session mobility and consistency in IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) based next generation network (NGN). RSA session transfer simplifies a basic session transfer operation specified in [1] by using the user agent client (UAC) like characteristics of an S-CSCF. To show its efficiency, the session transfer delay and the traffic cost of RSA session transfer are investigated and compared with those of existing session transfer applications, including Assured and Consultative session transfers, by practically considering multiple session transfer failures. It is shown that RSA session transfer can further improve user experience by reducing session transfer delay as well as traffic cost than Assured and Consultative session transfers.

  • We propose the scheme that supports continuously service when a user tries to contact new target network in broadband convergence network even though the network resource for the service is not enough. The proposed scheme transforms original service capacity into suitable QoS for the target network using the scalable service techniques in the oncoding/decoding and supports handover for the user. We analyzed the handover blocking probability of two schemes using queueing system to show the improvement of performance by the proposed scheme. Subsequently, we showed that the handover blocking probability in the proposed scheme is lower than that in the existing scheme.

  • For the successful promotion about the NGN (Next Generation Network), centralized network control and management technology is required to guarantee QoS and Traffic Engineering. This paper describes SNMP. Web Services and Network Open Interface based connection management scheme which can be used in centralized server based network in which the control plane is separated from transport plane. We also constructed platforms about each of these connection management schemes and performed comparing and analyzing the performance of connection setup delays.

  • Various schemes for mobility are currently studied in ITU-T, 3GPP, IETF, and so on. Mobility support in NGN for seamless service is necessarily required. Currently proposed mechanisms are MIPV6,0, Q.MMF, and IMS. However the performance comparison of all existing schemes is not examined as yet. That is, the existing methods need to be compared according to each performance parameter. So, in this paper, we investigate and compare the performances of MIPv6,0, Q.MMF, IMS to location registration. In addition, this paper presents the performance comparison of handover latency times. For this, we use NS-2 simulator. As a result of analysis, Q.MMF shown the best performance as it is measured the minimum time and cost. And it has low handover latency time in comparison with other mechanisms.

  • 최근 인터넷 관련 기술의 급속한 발전으로 데이터, 음성, 화상 등의 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스가 통합된 개방형 네트워크로 진화되어지고 있다. 모든 미디어가 인터넷으로 수렴되는 NGN(Next Generation Network)으로 발전할 전망이다.

  • MPLS is one of the most important technics for the growth of the next generation network. MPLS is a kind of third layers switching technics which is combined with second layers switching speed and third layers routing ability. And a simple label switching paradigm which uses short and fired lengths of lables is available in MPLS, too. Like this way, MPLS not only can keep its competitive price but also keep its merits such as second layers speed, third layers expansion, and compatibility with existing protocols. That means the traffic engineering, VPN, QoS ran be supported easily in MPLS. In this thesis, therefore, we will implement a small inter-networking based on MPLS and analyze its performance.

  • Tn this paper we described the process and the results of an implementation of Internet terminal using G.729.1 wideband speech codec for next generation network. For this purpose firstly we chose a high performance RISC application processor having DSP features for speech codec processing and enhanced Multimedia Accelerator(eMMA) function for video codec. In the implementation of this terminal, we used G.729.1 codec recently standardized in ITU-T which is a new scalable speech and audio codec that extends 0.729 speech coding standard. To adopt G.729.1 codec to this terminal we transformed most of the fixed point C codes which require more complexity into assembly codes so as to minimize processing time in the processor. As a result of this work we reduced the execution time of the original C codes about 80% and operated in real time on the terminal. For video we used H.263/MPEG-4 codec which is supported by the eMMA with hardware in the processor. In the SIP call processing test connected to real network we obtained under looms end-to-end delay and 3.8 MOS value measured with PESQ instrument. Besides this terminal operated well with commercial terminals.

  • Mobile IP(MIP) and SIP have been proposed to support mobility in the wireless internet working at different layers of the protocol stack. However MIP has some problems such as triangle routing, the need of each host's home address, the overhead of tunneling and the lack of wide deployment. Thus we proposed a scheme for supporting mobility based on SIP in this research. A novel SIP system to provide a hierarchical registration has been designed according to this scheme. Our SIP system has been established by implementing JAIN technologies which follow next generation network standards to support the mobility of wireless terminal. This system successfully satisfied ITU-T recommendation.

  • This paper defines test methodologies and performance indices for SIP server system, and describes elements that can have influence on the test of SIP network equipments. Moreover, we implement a tester to evaluate the performance of SIP Servers such as Registrar and Proxy server. The performance indices for testing SIP servers are message processing rate, transaction delay, and call success probability. The parameters that can have an effect on the performance of SIP servers are user population, transport protocol, method of database access, method of DNS, call creation pattern, definition of transactions, and size of packets. We tested several SIP servers that act as Registrar, Proxy, and Redirect server using the implemented SIP tester, and, as a result, verified functions of the tester and performance indices and input parameters defined in this paper. Performance indices and methodologies presented in this paper can be used to evaluate SIP servers in NGN
