A correlation between moisture and compressive strength of a damaged 15-year-old rammed soil house

  • Earthen structures have an excellent bioclimatic performance, but they are vulnerable against earthquakes. In order to investigate the edification process and costs, a full-scale rammed soil house was constructed in 2004. In 2016-2019, it was studied its seismic damage, durability and degradation process. During 2004-2016, the house presented a relatively good seismic performance (Mw=5.6-6.4). The damaged cover contributed in the fast deterioration of walls. In 2018 it was observed a partial collapse of one wall due to recent seismicity (Mw=5.6-6.1). The 15-year-old samples presented a reduced compressive strength (0.040 MPa) and a minimum moisture (1.38%). It is estimated that the existing house has approximately a remaining 20% of compressive strength with a degradation of about 5.4% (0.0109 MPa) per year (considering a time frame of 15 years) if compared to the new soil samples (0.2028 MPa, 3.52% of moisture). This correlation between moisture and compressive strength degradation was compared with the study of new soil samples at the same construction site and compared against the extracted samples from the 15-year-old house. At 7-14-days, the specimens presented a similar compressive strength as the degraded ones, but different moisture. Conversely, the 60-days specimens shown almost five times more strength as the existing samples for a similar moisture. It was observed in new rammed soil that the lower the water content, the higher the compressive/shear strength.

  • 급변하는 정보화 사회에서 필요한 IT 산업 인력의 수요는 급증하고 있지만 실제 산업체의 산업체에서 필요한 역량을 갖춘 전문인력은 부족한 형편이다. 산업환경에 맞춘 중견 전문인력 양성을 위한 교육 과정이 필요하다. 기존의 교육과정은 주어진 환경과 제한된 기간으로 인해 사고력이 가미된 교육보다는 실무에서 바로 사용할 수 있는 툴(tool) 사용 위주의 기능 교육위주로 시행되어, 이론이 뒷받침된 실무능력을 가진 전문인 양성이라는 본래의 목표에 미흡했던 것이 사실이다. 따라서 새로 도입되는 IT 분야의 3년제 교육과정은 이러한 문제점을 보완하고 본질적인 교육목표에 근접할 수 있는 전문인력을 양성하는데 큰 도움이 되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 2년제 교육과정을 토대로 산업체의 다양한 요구사항을 반영하고, 4년제 교육과정과는 차별되는 기술과 이론을 겸비한 3년제 교육과정의 모델을 개발하여 제안한다.

우리나라의 명절과 음식에 관한 주부들의 인지도 연구 -서울과 충청지역을 중심으로 - (A Study of Housewives' Attitudes on the Festive Days and Dishes in Korea -In the Region of Seoul and Choongchung Province-)

  • The purpose of this research was to determine the dishes most commonly served during various festive days. This research studied the habits of housewives in Seoul and In the Choongchung province who have children in high school. 1. Most of the housewives in Seoul graduated from high school. On the other hand. those in the Choongchung province graduated from elementary school in their education backgrounds. The monthly income ranged from 1,550,000 won to 1,190,000won to 1,190,000 won for the housewives of Seoul, and from 1,000,000 won to 1,490,000 for those of Choongchung. The nuclear family system was dominated in both areas and 63.8% of the housewives had a full-time job. 2. "Sulnal(The New Year's Day), Chusuk(Thanksgiving Day), Jungwol-daeborum(The 1st Full-Moon Day)" are among the festive days celebrated in 85% of the both areas, and "Yuwol-Yudu(6th, June), Chungyangjul(9th, September), Naphyang(8th, September)" were celebrated in 0.5%. 3. Traditional festive dishes with respect to the festive days were as follows. Tuckuk(rice cake soup) was a favorite food in Sulnal(The New Year's Day), Burum(Peanut,pine-nut, walnut, etc) in Jungwol-daeborum(The 1st Full-Moon Day), Samgyetang(chicken soup) in Dongji Songpyen(rice cake) in Chusuk(Thanksgiving day) and Patjuk(small red beans soup) in Dongji (22th, December). No significance was found in the number of dishes. 4. The Regional differences the festive days such as Sulnal(The New Year's Day), Ipchun(4th, February), Jungwol-daeborum(The 1st Full-Moon Day), Samwol-samjit(3th, March) Sawolchopail(Budda's birthday), Tano(5th, May), Yuwol-yudu(6th, March) Sawolchopail Budda's birthday), Tano(5th, May), Yuwol-yudu(6th, June), Chilwol-chilsok(7th, July), Suddal -gumum (The year's last day) were very significant 5. The festive days should continue. On the other hand, the menu(dishes) of the festive days should be simplified.hould be simplified.

한국산의 죽류에 관한 연구 (제8보) 신죽과 구죽에 있어서 비료의 종류에 따르는 효율성에 대하여 (RESEARCH ON THE BAMBOO IN KOREA (Ⅷ) On the Effectiveness of Fertilizers by kind upon the New and Old Bamboos)

  • The writer presented in the report 7th of this series(Chong, 1959. '62 a.b. '64, '65) the result of fertlizer application on Sasamorpha purpurascens var. borealis with regards to soil conditions, climate, planting position etc. and this report is on the effectiveness of fertilizers by kinds of the new (1-year old) and old(3-to 4 years old) Phyllostachys retticulata. The ineffectiveness of fertilizers for old bamboos aged more than 8-years old has been reported previously. The study site was chosen in a bamboo groven situated at Hyunnae Ri, Okkye Myun, Myungju Gun, Kangwon Do. Each plot was so designed that only one individual remained at the center of a circular area with a dimeter of meters by eliminating the clums and severing the rhizomes, of other individuals around it. And, for the fertilizer test, 10 individuals(the new and old: 5 to 5) were observed per kind of fertilizer used; thus marking the total number of 160 plots in all. The second part of this study was conducted for the potted individuals which numbered 48, successfully established ones out of 55 the transplanted to pots. The 48 were divided into 8 treatments: whole fertilization (NPK+compost+human manure); NPK; N; K; Human manure; compost; and the control. Amoung of fertilizers applied was 200 grams for the natural plots and 100 grams for pot; it continued for 3 years and applied twice a year (spring and summer) following the theory of Dr. Koichi-ro Ueda(1954, '60 a.b.). Measurements were taken in August each year. The resutls were confirming the fact that the bamboos require a great deal of fertilizers. The results show the following points: 1) Fertilizers were more effective in the 3 to 4 year old bamboos. 2) The order of effectiveness of fertilizers by kind was the whole fertilization, NPK, and N treatments for Phyllostachys reticulata. 3) Organic matter in addition to commercial fertilizers showed better result than the soil application of the latter due to better soil aeration.

시간대별 상대계수를 이용한 특수일이 포함된 평일의 전력수요예측 (Daily Load Forecasting Including Special Days Using Hourly Relative factors)

  • 본 논문은 전력계통에서의 전력수요예측을 하기 위한 네가지중 하나의 방법으로 특수일에 적용기법인 수요예측 담당자의 Know-How를 기반으로 예측하는 전문가법에 대하여 과거 15년간의 수요실적과 기상실적을 근거로 년중 모든 특수일에 대해서 수요패턴 분석을 실시하고 패턴의 변화되는 과정을 살펴보았다. 과거 전력수요 실적의 근거로 산출된 시간대별 상대계수의 수요패턴을 가지고 모의 운영한 결과 설 연휴 수요예측 오차율은 과거 5일간(2002, 2003년도)의 평균값 $3.23{[\%]}$에서 2005년도 설 연휴 실적대비 $1.78{[\%]}$로 상당한 개선효과가 있었다. 본 논문의 내용을 바탕으로 전력수요 예측 편람을 작성하는 것도 입문교재로서 수요예측 전문가 양성에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

사무소건물 조명기기와 열원기기의 고효율기기로의 교체에 관한 경제성 검토 (Feasibility Study on Retrofitting Lighting and Heat Source Equipments in Office Buildings)

  • Energy saving has been main concern, thus government supporting policies which are based on Fundamentals of Low-carbon Green Growth Act', 'Green Building Support Act, have been prepared in Korea. The objective of this study is to estimate energy conservation effectiveness and economic advantage assuming that lighting equipments and heat source equipments would be retrofitted. Office building, which has total floor area of $30,000m^2$, was a subject of this study. From the estimations, electric rate will be decreased by 62,886,000 won per year due to lighting equipments retrofit, and gas rate will be decreased 11,141,000 won or 17,332,000 won per year due to heat source equipments retrofit (in case of COP 1.2 or 1.5). Payback period of each case that are calculated by energy saving cost and retrofit cost are estimated 27.9 year, 38.6 year and 29.2 year, thus economic supporting policies is necessary for effective energy saving in buildings. Meanwhile payback period of heat source equipment for new building is estimated 6.1 year and 8.3 year.

Effect of Extraction Ethanol Concentration on Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of 30-Year-Old and 120-Year-Old Dangyuja (Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr.)

  • Dangyuja (Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr.) is a native fruit of great economic importance in Jeju island in Korea. To provide experimental evidence for the antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties on extraction ethanol concentration of Dangyuja, 2 cultivars, including 30-year-old and 120-year-old were evaluated. 30-year-old Dangyuja 50%, 70% ethanol extracts had the highest polyphenol and flavonoid content, and the strongest 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging activity. To investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of Dangyuja ethanol extracts, we used BV-2 microglia cells and induced inflammation using lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Then, we measured levels of inflammatory mediators as nitric oxide (NO). Among the 6 extracts, 30-year-old Dangyuja 50% ethanol extracts show the highest anti-inflammatory activity. The results suggest that 30-year-old Dangyuja 50% ethanol extracts provides significant health benefits and may be used for developing new functional materials.

언어대비(言語對比)와 개념(槪念)의 위계성(位階性)이 아동의 단어학습에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Linguistic Contrast and Conceptual Hierarchy on Children's Word Learning)

  • The purpose of this study was (1) to investigate whether linguistic contrast helps children map a new word into a specific semantic domain when a new word is introduced, (2) to examine the existence of a hierarchy of domains into which children will place a new word, (3) to examine whether children's existing lexicons affect how children map a new word. A total of 320 children from 3 to 6 years of age were drawn from Pusan, Korea. The children were divided into one of four age groups. There were 80 children in each age group. In each group, children were randomly assigned to one of four groups; the linguistic contrast group exposed to color, the linguistic contrast group exposed to shape, a label group and control group. All of the children were tested for production and comprehension of the new word. The results of this study were as follows; (1) The linguistic contrast helped children learn the meanings of a new word. Especially, children age 4 or more showed a significant effect for linguistic contrast; however, it was not sufficient to teach 3-year-old the correct, referent of a term. (2) There was a hierarchy of domains into which children mapped a new word. There was no significant effect for domains into which 3-year-old children mapped the new word, but from 4 years of age children showed a preference for assuming a new word refered to an object's shape rather than its color. (3) Children's existing lexicon had no effect, on how children comprehend a new word.

부산신항 컨테이너 물동량의 효율적인 처리를 위한 부산신항복합물류단지와 서부산유통단지의 기능적 연계성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Functional Relation between the West Busan New Port Distri-Park and the West Busan Logistics Park for Efficient Management of the Container Cargo Traffic Volume of the Busan New Port)

  • In order to deal with the increase of container cargo traffic volume more effectively, the ministry of maritime affairs & fisheries has a long-term plan to develop Gaduk Island. According to the plan, the New Port will handle 4,600,00TEUs annually. The completion of the project will enable the port of Busan to perform as a hub port in the Asia Pacific era of the year 2000 with sufficient port facilities, and this will lead to a new era of oceanic Korea. With the advent of the Pacific Rim Era of the year 2000, Busan metropolis has set a strategic development plan to establish the area as the center of logistics in the noreast Asian region as well as to become the stronghold of economic activity in Korea's southeast region. To this end, industries that will open the doors to a marine era and a new industrial complex focused on logistics are planned in the West Busan area where Gimhae International Airport and the Busan New Port meet. This paper aims to find out the functional relation and complement between the Busan New Port Distri-Park handing container cargo traffic volume and the West Busan Logistics Pa가 handling an air cargo and railroad goods. Especially, paper aims to suggest the West Busan Logistics Park as the efficient management of the container cargo traffic volume due to the Development Plan of the Busan New Port.
