  • Nutrition information about food is written on the label paper, which is very inconvenient for visually impaired people to recognize. In order to solve the inconvenience of visually impaired people with nutritional information recognition, this paper proposes a product nutrition information guide system for visually impaired people. In the proposed system, user's image data input through UI, and object recognition is carried out through YOLO v5. The proposed system is a system that provides voice guidance on the names and nutrition information of recognized products. This paper constructs a new dataset that augments the 319 classes of canned/late-night snack product image data using rotate matrix techniques, pepper noise, and salt noise techniques. The proposed system compared and analyzed the performance of YOLO v5n, YOLO v5m, and YOLO v5l models through hyperparameter tuning and learned the dataset built with YOLO v5n models. This paper compares and analyzes the performance of the proposed system with that of previous studies.

  • We consider a product recovery system that a single product is stocked in order to meet a demand from customers who may return products after usage. This paper addresses a problem of when to release a procurement process to replenish serviceable inventory and how many new products to procure. The structure of the optimal procurement policy is examined and numerically identified as a monotonic threshold curve. A numerical procedure is presented to jointly find the optimal procurement order size, optimal procurement policy, and optimal discounted profit. Sensitivity analysis also indicates that these optimal performance measurements have monotonic properties with respect to system parameters.

  • Categorization means the process labeling or identifying an object based on what people already know or its similarity for people to be easily perceptible in external environment. If it is categorized, it is schematically conjectured from typical characteristic of the category. In this sense, the categorization of new products has an important effect upon the market performance. Nevertheless, the categorization of innovative new products is not easy and occasionally very ambiguous. In this study, we discuss how to strengthen the categorization strategy of new hybrid IT products through complementary bundling. The model of this study is based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with resistance variable and verifies the statistical significance by undertaking a survey on consumers' awareness. In addition, we review the moderating effects of prior knowledge in the adoption process of complementary bundling. Through this analysis, we find out the structural relationship among the factors affecting adoption of complementary bundling. Also, it show that the influence of prior knowledge in respect of the adoption process is greater than others in case that there exists significant heterogeneity among strategic categories and complements. In conclusion, these findings suggest the following managerial implication. The categorization strategy of new hybrid IT product can be enhanced by complementary bundling, but the suitability among strategic category and complements should be evaluated exhaustively.

  • Managers have come to realized that a large and increasing amount of sources for a corporate competitive advantage can be found in their company's supply chain. At a fundamental level, there is a similar consensus that building a collaborative supply management is a more effective way of managing firms' supply chains. This paper is an attempt to examine the effects of collaborative supply management by probing a mechanism which shows how competences and/or performance are transferred from suppliers to markets through the supply chains. Research hypotheses regarding the relationships between collaborative supply management, supplier Performance, buyer internal performance (new product development and operational performance), and buyer market performance were empirically validated by utilizing a structural equation modeling analysis. The research result Indicates the positive impacts of a collaborative supply chain on supply performance as well as buyer internal and market performance, which also well illustrate how the improved competence and/or performance of suppliers engendered from the supplier-buyer collaboration flows throughout the entire supply chain.

  • This study is an attempt to explore the nature and characteristics of strategic impact of green strategy by environmental capital, corporate reputation, and technology strengths on the firm's performance across countries. The main question addressed in this paper relates to how corporate sustainability, corporate reputation, technology strength, and capabilities influence the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance measures including sustained growth through the leading firms across countries in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific countries. Particularly, this study attempts to empirically explore the directions and magnitudes of the operational links between new emerging strategic core competencies (e.g., sustainability green strategy by environmental focus for more sustainable path, corporate reputation by corporate social responsibility and image enhancement, and technology strengths to develop a new product and market) and the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance such as accounting (ROE and EOA) - and market-based performance (Market value and Tobin's q). Considering all possible limitations that might exist with regard to selected samples and methods, this study demonstrates that environmental sustainability, corporate reputation, technological capabilities and competencies through R&D intensity and patent are most likely to be significantly associated with most market-based performance measures, but the strategic significance of other variables such as capital intensity, leverage, and administrative cost efficiency on performance tends to be different depending on which performance measure is used across different countries with diverse economic and business contexts.

  • The Collaborative Filtering (CF) is one of the popular techniques for personalization in e-commerce storefronts. For CF-based recommendation, every customer needs to provide subjective evaluation ratings for some products based on his/her preference. Also, if an e-commerce site recommends a new product, some customers should rate it. However, there is no in-depth investigation on the impacts on recommendation performance of two number of ratings, i.e. the number of ratings of an individual customer and the number of ratings of an item, even though these are important factors to determine performance of CF methods. In this study, using publicly available EachMovie data set, we empirically investigate the relationships between the two number of ratings and the performance of CF. For the purpose, three analyses were executed. The first and second analyses were performed to investigate the relationship between the number of ratings of a particular customer and the recommendation performance of CF. In the third analysis, we investigate the relationship between the number of ratings on a particular item and the recommendation performance of CF. From these experiments, we can find that there are thresholds in terms of the number of ratings below which the recommendation performances increase monotonically. That is, the number of ratings of a customer and the number of ratings on an item are critical to the recommendation performance of CF when the number of ratings is less than the thresholds, but the value of the ratings decreases after the numbers of ratings pass the thresholds. The results of the experiments provide insight to making operational decisions concerning collaborative filtering in practice.
